WHAT WE DO:
ZSA is a completely independent, family oriented
Cheerleading program that caters for every aspect
of Cheerleading. Our Motto of Fun, Excitement
and Adventures highlights our goals of making
Cheerleading enjoyable and rewarding. From our
Tiny Tigers (3-6 years) through to our International
Open Co-Ed Level 5 Worlds Team the Southern
Tigers (14 years and Over). ZSA really does have
something for everyone. In 2015 almost half of the
people joining were new to Cheerleading and have
enjoyed learning the skills and challenges that
makes Cheerleading so enjoyable.
2015 has been a watershed year for ZSA starting
with taking our Open Level 4 ZSA Roar and Senior
3 ZSA Predators teams to the NCA Championships
in Dallas Texas, USA. Competing in the USA’s
largest National Championship along with 28,000
other competitors and coming away with 4th and
5th places, was excellent for our first attempt.
Athletes who attended remarked how many great
friends they made and how much fun they had at
the event (not to mention playing in the snow at
Cheer Athletics).
In April 2015, the ZSA Southern Tigers competed at
the NCA Daytona International and placed 1st. This
was the first step in the build-up to competing in the
USASF/ISAF Cheerleading Worlds in Orlando Florida.
The ZSA Southern Tigers were the first Queensland
team to compete in the prestigious IOC5 division
coming away with 2nd place in the Nations Cup and
4th overall in their Division beating some of the
best teams from around the World.
As a result, ZSA is proud to be the highest placed
gym outside the USA in 2015, achieving the best
result of all the Australian Cheer programs at
Worlds in 2015.
2016 is already heading in the same direction with
our Senior Level 5 ZSA Southern Pride being the first
Senior team from Australia to be awarded a bid to
the Cheerleading Worlds in Orlando in 2016. We are
excited to announce that the ZSA Southern Tigers
IOC5 team will be returning, full time
to the gym in 2016.

WHO WE ARE:
The ZSA Program is a fully independent program run by husband and wife team Brett & Kelley Turner as a
family friendly program that proves you can treat everyone equally and with respect and still be successful
on the International stage. Kelley manages the office and organizing and can be found at reception
everyday to answer any question you might have. Brett is a former Rugby League player, Coach and Sports
Trainer as well as a National Track & Field Athlete and High Jumps and Javelin coach, who was also a
former Technical Director and Board member of the Queensland Athletics Association. After retiring from
a successful business career Brett dedicated his efforts to making ZSA a competitive force in Cheerleading
(becoming the self appointed Coach of The Year along the way).
Brett can be found inside the gym on any given day working with every single team from our Tiny Tigers to
our IOC5 Worlds team, leading a team of the most highly respected coaches in Australia. The ZSA coaches’
development program has seen the coaches work closely with International coaches to develop a world
class program and to ensure our program continues to develop.
The ZSA coaching team is lead by Allstar Director, Miranda Mackenzie, who has a lifetime of dance and
cheer experience having grown with the ZSA Program, and leads our Level 4 & 5 programs. Our coaching
team comprises some of the most experienced and professional coaches in the country, and include:

Yama (the tumbling guru)
At 60 years of age, Yama has too many titles in
Gymnastics and Karate to mention, suffice to say
that he still demonstrates exactly how to do a
full on the floor. Yama has never met anyone he
couldn’t teach to tumble.

WHERE WE ARE:
WHAT WE OFFER:
Due to continued growth and in keeping with our
goals of providing the best facilities for our athletes,
ZSA moved into a new state-of-the-art facility in
2015. Located only 400 metres from the Springwood
bus exchange, just off the M1 at Slacks Creek, this
dedicated cheerleading facility offers essential
elements to aid in the cheer experience.
In 2015, our Elite Allstar program included 16
teams ranging from our 3-6 year old Tiny’s
through to all competitive age divisions:
Youth (11 & under),
Junior (under 14),
Senior (10 to 18),
Open (over 14).
The gym has a separate full-out room where teams
train on a fully sprung full size competition floor in
front of a fully mirrored wall. Complete with loud
music and bright lights - just like at a competition
(but without the distraction of other teams).
We offer all levels from Novice for beginners
through Levels 1 to 5, including All Girls and
Co-Ed teams.
Regardless of your age or whether you are
beginning cheer for the very first time or an
experienced veteran, ZSA has a team
placement for you.
The room also boasts state-of-the-art TV Playback
facilities. Our second fully sprung floor also has
specialist tumble equipment, trampoline and air
In addition to cheer classes, we offer
track. Our athletes and parents can relax in the

TEAM PLACEMENTS DETAILS:
PLACEMENT DAYS:
Our ZSA Elite Allstar Teams train for 4 - 6 hours per
week and are for every level and age. The teams
compete at least 5 or 6 times per season. The
teams work on the full array of Cheer related items
every session from Stunts, Tumbling, Jumps and
Dance. This program is open to anyone who shows
the skill for each level and has the dedication to
take on the challenge of Competitive Allstar Cheer.
Because it is sometimes hard to show off
all of your skills at a higher level, we will be
conducting pre-tryout placement sessions for
the following teams on Monday, December 7th
or Wednesday, December 9th:
Our ZSA Spirit program is for athletes unable to
commit to a full time program due to school or
work commitments. These teams train once per
week and compete only twice during the year. This
program allows athletes to maintain or develop
their skills without the higher level of commitment
required in an Elite Allstar team.
The ZSA Team Placement day (for both Elite Allstar
and ZSA Spirit teams) is Saturday, December 12th
2015 for our 2016 teams. If for any reason you
cannot make the tryouts, please contact Kelley on
0403 437 881 to make arrangements for a private
tryout. Times and days are limited so please let
Kelley know ASAP.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
• Arrive at ZSA a half hour before your age
tryouts and fill in the paperwork. For anyone

• Bring your $10 tryout fee. $15 for out of hours
private tryouts.
WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED
TO KNOW?
To help everyone understand the process, it is
mandatory for a parent/legal guardian to attend
one of the meetings in regards to athletes trying
out for competitive teams. These briefings will be
held on the 12th December at the following times:
10.30am; 12.30pm; 2.30pm; 4:00pm. It is only
necessary to attend ONE meeting.
Our tryouts are fun! They will be run as per a
normal practice session or clinic with athletes
working on skills in all elements of cheer
throughout the session. When tryouts are complete,
we will begin to assemble teams. In addition to
skills, many other key factors are taken into account
when making selections.
It is often a difficult process and our coaches and
management will work together to put each athlete
in a team best suited to them. 2016 pricing will
be finalised by tryouts and explained during the
briefings. To avoid distractions, the tryouts are
for athletes only and will be closed to family and
friends.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
• Unlike some programs that expound how
cheap they are (then require a minimum of
16 hours a week meaning it wasn’t really that
cheap after all), ZSA has a family friendly
pricing structure to suit everyone. We offer
discounts for families with 3 or more children.
• We offer discounts of up to 10% for upfront
payments.
• For our Spirit program of 2 hours training per
week and competing only twice per year, is $25
per week inclusive of choreography and music.
Competition fees will be advised in term 1.
• Our Elite Allstar program for our competition
team that compete at least 5 – 6 times per year
(including Nationals in 2016) and train 3 - 6
hours per week, depending on the Level, costs
ONLY $10.00 per hour.
• Athletes cross-over fee is $10 per week for up
to 4 hours extra training.
