THE HAPPY HEELER
From the President’s Desk …
Hello everyone,
We had a wonderful weekend at DOCOF. As usual the
weekend started Friday with set up. When we arrived it
was nearly completely set up - some of the exhibitors
camping there got bored and decided to go ahead and
start setting up. Those who help with set up are allowed
to work their dogs in the rings hey will be showing in so
I got a chance to work Knight. Saturday was devoted to
run-throughs. We got our space set up then were able to
get our dogs used to the area and the ring they will
compete in.
Sunday was the big day - twenty nine teams competing
and cheering each other on. Some of the best
handler/dog teams in our state competing. Lots of
goodies to eat.
A special thanks to all who worked so hard to bring this
together - both from our club and from the other clubs
who worked so hard. DOCOF is unique to Florida - no
other state has anything to compare. I want to especially
thank our member who were not entered yet devoted
their time to steward Sunday. We could not do without
you!
We will be looking forward to the next year and hope
more members can enter.
Now on to the next topic - our trials coming up in
October/November. All the background work has
been completed and we are looking forward to
working again with lake Eustis Kennel club to put
on the Autumn cluster. Our trials will be Friday - if
you have not been contacted to help and are able
to, let Dea or Fran know. I think our trials have a
good reputation and we have a lot of support from
the dog community. We want to make each trial a
good experience for our exhibitors. We will be
talking about the trials the next meeting.
We are also trying to set a date for our agility
trials. Hopefully we can come up with something
soon - the calendar is so full it seems every date
we look at has a conflict.
There are plenty of opportunities coming up this
fall and winter to get involved - trials and
seminars. Be sure to look over the list Chris has of
opportunities for us to have fun with our dogs.

rd
time competing at DACOF! The team Bella was on (Dog Over It) came in 3
place out of 53 teams (Deb Smith and “Stunn” were on our team too)! Bella was
nd
2 place overall 12” Open out of 27 dogs and all five of her runs were great
rd
scores! This was Bella’s 3 year at DACOF and we always have a blast!
And now the obedience news … Took Hope to OCOD Obedience/Rally Trial

Pet Emergency . . .
Are you and your pet ready?
.
How to assemble a disaster supply kit for your dog -
Take this kit with you should you need to evacuate. Include:
 Leash and collar with ID tags
 Current copy of vaccination records
 Any medication your dog needs and written directions
for dispensing medication
 Photocopy of AKC registration papers and a copy of your
dog’s enrollment papers for AKC Reunite
 Recent photo
 At least a three-day supply of food and bottled water.
Don’t forget your dog’s dishes!
 Blankets and bedding
 Crate with a few toys
 Plastic "pick-up" bags
Train your dog
Obedience-trained dogs will respond better to commands and
will be easier to handle during a stressful situation such as an
emergency evacuation.

Victory’s philosophy is based on
creating focus and motivational
play. She believes that gentle
guidance and proper leadership
achieves excellent results, as it is
based on the psychology of how
dogs learn. In addition, her varied
background allows her to bring a
fresh perspective to many areas
of training.
Her Border Collie “Reign” was the
Purina and Westminster Top Dog of
the Year in 2013 and they were
the 2nd runner up at the NOI
In 2014 they were the
3rd runner up at the NOI
Reign has earned 72 HIT and 71 HC....
Come and learn how Victory achieves
success! We have unlimited audit
spots at $150 for the weekend (or $75
each day) including breakfast and
lunch.
