SHOW PROFILE
TELSA, the ONLY dedicated B2B Telecommunications & ICT Exhibition and Conference
in Saudi Arabia concluded on 31st January 2012 and was widely acknowledged as a
huge success. Under the patronage and support of H.E. Eng Mohamed Jamil Bin Ahmed
Mulla – Minister of Communications and Information Technology, TELSA proved to be
the premier arena for local, regional and international telecom operators, regulators,
service providers, wholesale carriers, government agencies, vendors, corporations plus
other relevant stakeholders to meet, network and do business in a vibrant business
environment.
Focused on networking and creating the perfect platform to conduct business, the
international, regional and local telecoms and ICT industry descended on the Four

THE TELSA SUMMIT WAS SOLD OUT
The first ever TELSA Summit was a phenomenal success. Over 300 delegates
gathered over the course of 3 days including numerous presentations, panel
discussions and workshop opportunities. Highlights included a Special Address
from Dr. Abdulrahman bin Sulaiman Al Uraini, Adviser to HE the Minister of
Communications & Information Technology who inaugurated proceedings followed
by an address from Dr. Marwan Al Ahmadi, CBO of Mobily, Official Telecoms
Partner for TELSA. Day Two commenced with an active discussion including
Keynote Speakers Dr. Sulaiman Mirdad, Deputy Governor of IT, Communication
and Information Technology Commission; Ali Eid, President, Ericsson Saudi Arabia
Branch; and Wael Ali Al Ghamdi, VP Data Solutions at Mobily.
The workshop on Day Three focusing on Telecoms Solutions for the
Public Sector was also sold out with delegates gaining practical, hands
on solutions and case study work from our knowledgeable Workshop
Leaders Keith Read, formerly of British Telecom and Kevin Hourigan
of Nova Incepta.
At the Saudi Telecoms and ICT Summit I was able to meet industry leaders and
engage them on understanding the telecom landscape and way forward for Saudi
Arbaia and the region. I was impressed by the quality of people and discussions.

2012 MARKETING CAMPAIGN
TELSA 2012 was more than just a three day event. Our marketing campaign began 12 months prior to the event
and an extensive marketing plan was executed with precision. A wide variety of mediums were used to further
promote and enhance the profile of TELSA. This lead to significant media coverage prior, during and after the
event.
Television
Onsite, the event was covered by recognised
international, regional and local news channels
including a news report on CNBC Arabia.
Email
TELSA has built a database of over 60,000
industry professionals. They are kept updated
with event and industry information via
e-bulletins, updates and reminders that are
sent out on a regular basis. In total, over
300, 000 emails were sent including emails
sent out by our media partners to their
subscribers, individually targeting segments
of the target audiences with customised
messages to suit the viewer’s profile. Our
emails average a 19% opening rate which is
amongst the highest in the industry.
Print Advertising
The TELSA marketing strategy consisted of a
print advertising campaign which extended
itself across leading local and regional trade
publications, magazines and newspapers. In
total over 30 advertisements appeared as part
of the event promotion campaign, covering
region’s most renowned Telecoms and ICT
titles. Some of the prominent titles that carried
TELSA 2012 advertisements included:

TELSA invests heavily on ensuring that every
record on our database is updated regularly,
helping the marketing team to reach out
to more than 60,000 unique records in a
targeted and personalised fashion. Catering
to the needs of right segment of audiences
with the right message. The mailing campaign
for the launch edition of TELSA comprised a
variety of collateral including, Visitor leaflet to
local and regional audience, and personalised
invitations.
The TELSA Summit marketing campaign
reached out to more than 40,000 individuals
via email, fax, direct mail, print and online
advertising and in addition invitations were
sent to partnering associations, sponsors,
exhibitors and speakers to further distribute to
their clients and add more prominence to their
participation at the show.
Website
The TELSA website is one of the primary
mediums through which the event is
promoted all year round. 32,577 pages
were viewed between December 2011 to 28
January 2012 (source: Google analytics) –
which represents 6,301 unique visitors.
Online Advertising
The TELSA marketing team worked closely
with leading business portals from around
the globe to ensure the event reached
their subscribers and visitors through web
advertising and targeted email campaigns,
amounting to 41,717 pages of the TELSA
website viewed in the 5 months prior to the

event. This number also represents 9,718
unique visits.
SMS
TELSA sends out regular updates to its opt-in
database of mobile phone users via SMS
broadcasts. With research showing of all text
messages sent are read, the campaigns proved
to be an effective tool for keeping visitors up
to date with the progress of the event. 7,000
messages were sent out reminding targeted
audiences about their participation at
TELSA 2012.
Telemarketing
TELSA has a dedicated team of industry
specific, knowledge rich telemarketers that
personally invite key delegates and industry
professionals to ensure their attendance. More
than 2,000 top job titles were contacted via
telephone prior to the event.
Social Media
Social media sites have become extremely
popular in today’s digital age. Capitalising on
this new, cost-free era, TELSA has created a
number of groups on sites such as Facebook,
LinkedIn, Twitter and AreebaAreeba to keep
senior-level professionals updated on the latest
Saudi Telecoms and ICT market trends and
inform of various announcements being made
at the event. By January the TELSA Facebook,
Twitter and Linkedin pages accumulated over
700 followers in less than 4 months.

TELSA 2012 marketing campaign did not end with the opening of the show – far from it – onsite at TELSA, our
