PAGE New Online Payment Processor for
Lunch Accounts
We are changing the way online deposits to lunch accounts are processed through
our new Southeast Warren Community School District Web Store. Parents can
make payments online from their home or work computer, any time of the day. It
takes just a few minutes to make an online payment using VISA, MasterCard or
Discover credit/debit card.
We have contracted with RevTrak, a national credit card payment processor, to
provide a secure site for making payments. Visit www.RevTrak.com to learn more
about our new online payment processor.
If you have used PaySchools in the past, you will need to create a new login with
RevTrak the first time you use it. There will be a link to RevTrak after you log into
your lunch account, or you can go directly to sewarrencsd.revtrak.net.
2013-14 Nutrition Program Price Increases
Lunch:
K-6 7-12 Adults $2.00
$2.10
$3.25
Breakfast:
K-6 7-12 Adults $1.10
$1.10
$1.35
Student Meal Accounts & Policies
It is important that lunch account
balances be maintained as a positive
amount. Negative balances of $10 for
an individual account or $20 for a family account will result in an alternate
but approved meal being served to the
student until the account is brought to a
positive balance.
At the K-6 level, once an account
reaches $5.00 the family/student will be
notified that the account is getting low.
At all grade levels, if you supplied an
email address on your registration form,
you will receive low-balance warning
emails at a pre-set level based on the
number of students in your family.
Students that receive free or reduced price meals MUST take a qualified meal to receive the meal at the free
or reduced price. Qualified meals are
changing this year due to the Healthy,
Hunger-Free Kids Act, and we will post
more information for the students at the
lunch/breakfast line.
Lunchline employees are not to be
aware of which students receive free
and reduced meals. Jr-Sr High students
who are unsure which foods to select
should take the full standard meal each
time in order to meet the qualified meal
status.
• Students should deposit funds in their
lunch account in the cafeteria between
7:50 a.m.-8:10 a.m. • Students with positive account balances may charge extra servings,
with parent approval. Students that
are on free or reduced lunches will be
charged full price for extra serviings.
• Ala carte items must be paid with
cash; charging of these items is not
permitted, with the exception of bottled water.

COMMENTS FROM THE AUDIENCE: Dale
Adams addressed the Board concerning school
bus safety. His daughter was involved in an incident of nearly being hit by a glass bottle that had
been thrown , students are up walking around
while the bus is moving, and the noise level is
so loud that you can’t talk back and forth. Dale
suggested the possibility of having another adult
rider on the bus to help monitor the students,
take names, etc.
Discussion followed with some possible solutions
of suspending bus riding privileges, having another adult ride the bus, and assigning seats.
REPORTS:
Transportation Report submitted by Joel Mosher:
We had 27 extra bus trips for the month. I spent
some time checking over the man lift at Liberty
Center for a hydraulic leak (found tank leaking).

the month was spent doing general repairs.

multi-purpose room, featuring animals from the
Blank Park Zoo. The Science Center of Iowa

Discovering Dinosaurs.

Ankeny on May 9th. The festival itself is celebrating its 17th year and our students along with 2000
other 5th graders from around the state spent the
day learning about the importance of water. On
May 10th our 4th graders took a trip back in time
to Living History Farms in Urbandale where they
spent the day discovering the agricultural history
of state. Our 6th grade class has scheduled their
field trip for May 21st. They plan to visit the State
Capitol for a tour and then take in an Iowa Cubs
game in the afternoon. A big thank you goes out
to PIE for providing the funding that makes these
trips possible.
Our 6th grade students will travel to Liberty Center this week to spend the morning shadowing
the current 7th graders. This year they also were
able to stay and have lunch. This has been set
up to give our students a feel of what junior high
will be like, and hopefully make the transition into
junior high an easy one.

will be submitted as the SEW Primary representative at the 2013 Iowa State Fair Spelling Bee.
Dominic will be our alternate.
On May 23rd the third graders toured the Intermediate Building, met the teachers, and learned
about fourth grade. While they were there, they
participated in the third and fourth grade spelling
bee, competing against the fourth graders. Third
grade participants included: Gracie Morhardt,
Liberty Mitchell, Zoey Sherman, Blake Fuller,
Cameron Dittmer and Guin Mozak. Fourth grader
Randy Jimenez was the first place winner, with
Allison Cooper finishing second.
Dancers from Pella performed for our students on
May 15th as part of our study of the Netherlands.
First grade and third grade toured Pella for their
field trips on May 16th and 17th. Throughout the
month, students participated in activities related
to the Netherlands. We had several students
who completed child/parent projects. Prizes were
awarded in three categories: food, project and diorama. First place, second place, third place and
participation awards were presented in each of
these three categories per grade level. All of the
students’ hard work was on display when they
performed in our annual Friendship Fair on May
30th at 1 pm. Mrs. Burgin and Mrs. DeJoode are
our building committee leaders on this program
and we appreciate the extra time they put in. We
heard a lot of positive feedback from parents regarding the Friendship Fair.
Four-year-old preschoolers completed their year
with preschool graduation on May 24th. This
celebration of their transition into kindergarten
was well attended. We had one of our biggest
crowds yet. Miss Naylor and Mrs. Hommer put
a lot of hard work into making graduation a fun
and smoothly run event. The preschool teachers
appreciated the preschool sized stage they used
for graduation built by Mr. Seuferer and his high
school class.
Kindergarten performed for their parents and
grandparents and enjoyed on a picnic lunch with
them during the kindergarten picnic on May 30th.
Kindergarteners sang many songs demonstrating their knowledge of colors, days of the week,
months of year, etc. Small groups presented
information on their study of animals and each
child shared a fact they learned. The rain dampened the outside picnic plans so students and
their families picnicked in the kindergarten rooms
and preschool even shared their space for more
families.
On the last day of school we recognized students
who had perfect or good attendance. We had

to our K-3 Afternoon Milk Fund. We have several community groups and individuals who have
sponsored a student who could not afford to purchase the afternoon “snack” milk. Thank you to
