Photo: actives from both chapters pictured above Photo courtesy of Ralph Saroyan By Cynthia Liu Alpha Psi and Gamma Iota brothers hosted the Super Bowl Raffle Kick-‐off Party at Al The Wop’s on Friday, October 9th. Al The Wop’s is a very old school bar that proudly boasts a photo of Ralph on its wall and is famous for its steaks served with peanut butter. The event began with brothers catching up over drinks and meeting new brothers from the other chapter. Many active brothers were in attendance, as well as recent alumni, Erika Cho (2014) and Dr. Alex Van Zuiden (2015). Ed Larimer (1969) announced the first-‐ever friendly competition between Alpha Psi and Gamma Iota to see who can sell the most Super Bowl raffle tickets. The winning chapter will win a party hosted by Ralph Saroyan (1964) and Michael Conner (2012). Following the announcement was an arm wrestling competition to establish the “stronger” chapter. Brother Claire said that she got to “meet a lot of new GI brothers and thought [Al The Wop's] was a great place to meet between the two schools.” The Kick-‐off Party was a success and we’re all excited to see who will sell the most tickets this year! Helen Rowland Memorial Scholarship Awarded to Khoa Luong In Memoriam Wayne Gohl (Aug. 13, 1941-‐Aug. 25, 2015) This foundation would like to remember and thank Wayne Gohl for his contribution to this organization. Wayne’s knowledge and dedication to help make this organization what it is today will always be appreciated. Congratulations to Khoa Luong on being awarded the 2015 Helen Rowland Memorial Scholarship. This award was established in 1994 in memory of Helen Rowland, wife of our chapter’s founder Ivan W. Rowland. This scholarship is presented to a graduating senior who has demonstrated above and beyond service and leadership within the school of pharmacy. This is open to any graduating Pacific senior, but we are delighted to announce that this year’s award was presented to one of our brothers. Khoa is from the Fresno area and was active within the school of pharmacy and served in the student leadership association. He’s also one of the newest contributors to the foundation.
