Parent Notification System
Lake Travis Independent School District officials use SchoolMessenger to provide parents with
timely and relevant information regarding school emergencies, weather alerts and other news
by using voice messages, email, social media and SMS text messaging.
The contact information you provided during your child’s registration process earlier this year
will automatically be used for notifications as part of the SchoolMessenger system. However,
you must indicate your willingness to receive text messages to your mobile phone. The process
is simple and only takes a few seconds to complete:
1. Send a text message to 68453
2. In the body of the message, type: yes
3. Send the message.
You’ll know you were successful if you receive the following reply message: “You are
registered to receive aprox 3 msgs/mo. Txt STOP to quit, HELP for help.” You may repeat the
opt-in process for any wireless numbers that you wish to include. Although the District does
not charge for this service, it does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by
you for sending or receiving text messages. Check with your wireless carrier for possible
charges.
In addition to performing the opt-in process above, you’ll want to insure that we have your
wireless number in our student information database. If you haven’t already provided that
information—or should it need to be updated, please contact us via email at
[email protected], or call us at 512-533-6029.
Please note, the SchoolMessenger notification service is not intended to replace existing means
of communication. You are encouraged to subscribe (or update your preferences if you are a
current subscriber) to other district and campus news services such as newsletters,
announcements, Tuesday Folders, etc., by visiting the LTISD website or your child’s school
website and select Subscribe to Our E-News.

LTISD Senior Gold Card Program
Your Ticket to great entertainment
Over the years, our senior residents have made many contributions to the students and schools of
the Lake Travis community. Now, the Lake Travis Independent School District (LTISD) wants to say
‘thank you.’
The Senior Gold Card is for residents of LTISD who are 65 years of age or older. This special card
will provide a means for our senior residents to continue to be active in programs sponsored by
LTISD schools.
Any resident of LTISD who is 65 years of age or older is eligible for membership in the Senior Gold
Card program at no charge.
Senior Gold Card benefits include free admission to LTISD cultural events such as plays, musicals
and concerts in all District schools. (Reservations may be necessary when sell-out performances
are anticipated.) Members will also receive free admission to LTISD regular athletic events in District gymnasiums and general admission seating at District stadiums. (Cards will not be valid for
activities beyond regular District schedules.)
To apply for membership in the LTISD Senior Gold Card program, simply complete the application
and send it via standard mail, fax, or email to:

Hudson Bend Middle School earns architectural awards
The Hudson Bend Middle School Expansion Project, of one of four major projects contained in the Lake
Travis Independent School District’s 2012 bond program, has been selected to receive two Criteria Awards
for excellence in the planning and design of Texas public education facilities. The award program is a collaborative project of the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), the Texas Association of School
Boards (TASB), and the Texas Society of Architects.
The Hudson Bend Middle School Expansion Project received Criteria Awards in the Educational Appropriateness category for design of learning spaces; instructional program delivery; space relationships (student
and staff); technology integration; safety and security impact; activity appropriateness; and innovation.
The project also received a Criteria Award in the Process of Planning category for student, parent, teacher,
and community collaboration; structure of the collaboration process; and evaluation of the educational program.
The Hudson Bend Middle School Expansion Project will be featured as part of the Exhibit of School Architecture at the TASA/TASB Annual Convention to be held September 26-28, 2014 in Dallas. The Exhibit and
awards competition highlight new educational construction and renovation projects in Texas that have taken
place over the past five years.
