The Last Straw Cottage is uniquely built from straw bale
construction and will be exclusively yours for the duration
of your stay. This romantic cottage is an ideal holiday retreat
for anyone who wants total independence and privacy.
Situated in a quiet, picturesque valley on a 16 acre farmlet
this 3 bedroom cottage has all the features of a modern home
(TV-Video, CD & DVD player, shower, claw foot bath,
washing machine, dryer, microwave) but the atmosphere
and charm of an old world cottage with wonderful thick
walls, all natural materials and recycled timbers. It is the
perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy the delights of the
Nelson region.
It has its own private garden setting and courtyard with
BBQ, brazier & sun loungers. The cottage is 5 minutes from
3 of Nelsons fine rivers which offer great swimming, fishing
and picnicking. Rabbit Island beach is 10 minutes from your
door, Tahunanui Beach 20 minutes & Kaiteriteri Beach 40
There is a fully equipped kitchen, with fresh ground coffee, muffins and freshly squeezed orange juice to greet you. Pets are welcome
(outside only), paddocks for horses, warm stable and kennel provided. The Last Straw Cottage is a non-smoking property.
Spend time relaxing in front of the open fire, have a long soak in the deep bath, or enjoy a BBQ outside in the cottage’s own
garden and courtyard. Mountain bikes are available if you fancy a more active day!

There are a wide variety of recreational activities available
which include fly fishing, horse riding, tramping (Abel
Tasman National Park & Kahurangi National Park), skiing,
adventure sports etc. Wineries and potteries nearby.
An evening meal can be enjoyed at any one of Nelson’s
award winning cafes & restaurants or self catered in your
fully equipped kitchen.
Provisions for continental breakfast will be left for you in the
cottage or a delicious breakfast hamper can be ordered full of
fresh local produce.

elevate you well beyond anything we’ve experienced
both in New Zealand and Overseas.
