Introducing Our Spectacular Guest Speakers
Dr. Teresa Hoban is a 1997 graduate of New York Chiropractic College’s Chiropractic program, has an MBA from
Wilmington College, and has a very successful practice in Penn Yan, New York. Her goal is to help others enhance
learning and develop skills that will take everyone to the next level. Dr. Hoban, Director for the Academy for Professional
Success, is a certified Physicians Coach and a certified Co-Active Coach.
Dr. Sandra Hartwell graduated from New York Chiropractic College in April 1996. She has extensive postgraduate education in sports medicine and Active Release Techniques®. She is currently full-time as an assistant professor teaching
human gross anatomy courses as well as neuroscience anatomy. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Hartwell
also has a private practice.
Dr. Elise G. Hewitt is board certified in chiropractic pediatrics and certified in craniosacral therapy through the Upledger
Institute. An alumna of the University of Colorado, she has been in private practice since graduating summa cum laude
from WSCC in 1988. In her waiting-list pediatric practice, she specializes in the care of infants. Dr. Hewitt currently
serves as president of the American Chiropractic Association’s Pediatrics Council. She is a founding member of both
the ACA Pediatrics Council and the Pediatrics Council of the International Chiropractors Association. In addition, she
serves on the board of directors for the multidisciplinary Integrative Pediatrics Council. In recognition of her service to
and achievements within the chiropractic profession, Dr. Hewitt has been elected a Fellow in the International College
of Chiropractors.
James M. Shinol holds a Master of Science in East Asian Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College, Boulder, Colo. He is a
Diplomate of Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology and East Asian Medicine (including Asian Bodywork Modalities, NCCAOM).
Special interests include internal medicine, women’s health and patient education. James believes that treating each patient holistically involves extensive questioning, diverse treatment methods, and dedication from both patient and practitioner. Examination of each patient’s lifestyle (diet, stress, activities) allows for recommendations that can greatly impact the individual and
the speed of their recovery. He is a Board Certified Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist, as well as a Licensed Acupuncturist
in both New York and New Jersey and an educator at several local colleges. He practices in Huntington, Long Island, where he
works closely with medical doctors, chiropractors and other alternative therapists to achieve optimal results.
Dr. Anthony J. Lisi received a B.A. from Fordham University in New York, N.Y., and his D.C. degree from Palmer College
of Chiropractic West in San Jose, CA. In 2007 Dr. Lisi was named Director of Chiropractic Services for the Veterans
Health Administration. In this role he oversees all national programmatic issues related to the integration of chiropractic services into the largest healthcare system in the U.S. Previously, in 2004 he became the first chiropractor appointed
to the medical staff of the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, where he developed processes for integrating hospitalbased clinical services and interprofessional clinical education for CAM and traditional medical trainees. He is currently
the Chief of Chiropractic Service at the VA Connecticut facility, and Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic. Dr. Lisi has authored or co-authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications
and presented over 25 abstracts at scientific conferences throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Michael Taromina, Esq., is a graduate of Fordham University and has received his juris doctor from the City University
of New York Law School (CUNY). Michael is Chair of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and
Oriental Medicine’s Professional Ethics and Disciplinary Committee. For over a decade he has litigated, educated, advocated and authored for the advancement and protection of the AOM profession in the United States. During his career,
Mr. Taromina has lectured before government officials, state regulators, practitioners, attorneys, vendors and students
across the country and overseas. In addition, he received the 2008 AAAOM Award for Excellence and has assisted many
states through their efforts to introduce and amend AOM legislation.
Dr. Louis Lupinacci has served as the Chiropractic representative to the Medicare Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC)
for New York State since 2005. He is also the New York State Medicare Representative for the ACA Chiropractic Contractor Advisory Committee (CCAC). Dr. Lupinacci is currently the Vice President of the New York State Chiropractic Association (NYSCA) and is a past president of the Suffolk County chapter of NYSCA. He is the Chairman of the NYSCA
Medicare committee since 2005. In 2010 he was inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Chiropractors and
was the recipient of the NYSCA Award of Excellence. A 1979 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Lupinacci
has been in private practice for over 30 years.

David Seaman, DC, MS, DABCN, DACBN, received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Rutgers University, and then
attended New York Chiropractic College, graduating in 1986. He earned his master’s degree in nutrition from the University of Bridgeport in 1991 and completed his postdoctoral studies in neurology at Logan College of Chiropractic the next
year. Dr. Seaman is a faculty member at Palmer Florida, where he teaches nutrition applications. He is also a popular
and prolific author of nutrition, chiropractic and neurology articles, Dr. Seaman is author of the text Clinical Nutrition
for Pain, Inflammation and Tissue Healing.
Dr. Stuart Kinsinger is a chiropractor and bioethicist. He teaches at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, cares for
patients, and works as an ethics consultant in various capacities. His contribution to the literature includes publications in JMPT, Journal of Chiropractic Humanities, Journal of Chiropractic Education and Journal of the Canadian
Chiropractic Association. He enjoys facilitating workshops for chiropractors on the ethics of care and managing patient
boundaries, and works to make these fun and time well spent.
Ms. Anna Allen, NCMIC professional relations representative, received her BSN in nursing from Grandview College and
her master’s degree in Nursing Education and Administration from Drake University. Prior to joining NCMIC, Ms. Allen was a medical fraud analyst supervisor for Unisys Corporation, head nurse/outreach coordinator/educator at Iowa
Methodist Medical Center, and emergency department R.N. Her specialties included care of the psychiatric and emergency room patient. She has conceived, planned and presented workshops nationally on health care fraud and care of
chronically ill patients and given hundreds of other presentations throughout the U.S. Ms. Allen is an adjunct professor
for postgraduate education at National University of Health Sciences, and an adjunct assistant professor to the postgraduate and continuing education faculty of the New York Chiropractic College.
Ms. Honora Lee Wolfe has been involved in professional health care education since 1976. Director at the Boulder College
of Massage Therapy for five years, Ms. Wolfe went on to study tuina massage at the Shanghai College of TCM and completed her acupuncture training in 1988. She has taught at many national and regional acupuncture colleges and conferences in North America and Europe and is the author or co-author of several books, including Prince Wen Hui’s Cook:
Chinese Dietary Therapy, How to Have a Healthy Pregnancy Healthy Birth with Chinese Medicine, Managing Menopause

Dr. Lisa Bloom is an associate professor in the Chiropractic Clinical Sciences Department. She holds a Diplomate and
Board Certification from the International Board of Chiropractic Neurology and a Diplomate in Applied Chiropractic Sciences. Dr. Bloom is a popular lecturer and has been the featured speaker at conferences in over 40 states in the U.S., as well
as an invited speaker internationally. She has lectured on topics in neurology in the UK, Canada, and the Netherlands.
A multiple winner of the Faculty Excellence and Pride in Chiropractic Awards, Dr. Bloom served on the National Board
of Chiropractic Examiners Test Committee from 1999-2007. An examiner and lecturer for the International Academy of
Chiropractic Neurology, she currently serves as a board member of the International Academy of Neurology. Dr. Bloom
is an Associate Professor in the Diagnosis Division of the Clinical Sciences Department of New York Chiropractic College.
Dr. Chad Warshel earned his DC from Western States Chiropractic College in 1997, completed the WSCC radiology residency in 2001, and successfully achieved the designation of DACBR. Prior to coming to NYCC, he maintained a dual
practice in California, both treating patients and interpreting diagnostic imaging studies. An Associate Professor at
NYCC in the Chiropractic Clinical Sciences department, he teaches primarily in the radiology curriculum, and is also the
Director of the MS in Diagnostic Imaging residency program.
Dr. Mariangela Penna received her Bachelor of Science degree from St. John’s University and then attended New York
Chiropractic College, graduating in 1986. She was adjunct faculty at NYCC, Levittown Health Center and is past president of the New York State Chiropractic Association. She has been elected Fellow in the International College of Chiropractors and the American College of Chiropractors. Dr. Penna currently serves as alternate carrier advisory committee
member for Medicare in New York State and maintains a private practice in Bayside, NY.
