ENLARGEMENT
Task 1 : There are many ways we can use to make a picture larger or smaller in
art. In this task you should use the grid system provided to enlarge the drawing
by Sarah-Jane Szikora in a ratio of 1:2
In other words for each section represented in the picture the lengths in your
drawing are 2 times the lengths in the original image. With this in mind what
will happen to the area?______________________________________________

ARTIST RESEARCH
Task 2: Look at the paintings below linked to the theme of food. Try to find out which artists
painted them using the internet. Remember when you search that google images will not always
give the best and fastest results, try searching on the artist websites as well.
The Artists names are as follows but not in order!

EXTENDED WRITING
You have probably seen the questions below laminated around the
department. You should try to answer the questions as fully as possible in
sentences. You should use the internet or books to help you research the
artist fully before you start to write your response. Your own thoughts are
important, try not to copy directly from the internet.
ANALYSING ARTISTS & THEIR WORK
What is the artists name? DOB? Where are they from? When were they
making their artwork? What type of art do they do?
Do you like/ dislike the work and why? How does it make you feel?
Does the work tell a story? Is there a theme throughout the work? Does it
make you think of anything else?
Are there any historical or cultural links to the work?
How has the work been made? What materials has the artist used? Why do
you think the materials are appropriate for the work? Why?
Are there any images, objects, materials or symbols that are important ?
Which of the visual elements are important in the work?
COLOUR, LINE, COMPOSITION, TONE, TEXTURE, SHAPE, FORM, & PATTERN
TASK 3: This task is designed to get you to research and think about the work of
the artists for this unit of work. You need to use the prompt questions above to
give YOUR thoughts and opinions on their work. Remember to write in 1st person,
for example ‘I think ……’ ‘My opinion is …..’ For each page you should select 3
images of the artist’s work and stick them into the spaces provided.
Each page should contain the following:



Basic information about the artist eg Name, DOB, Nationality etc.
2-3 PHOTOGRAPHS of the artist’s work
An ANALYSIS of the artist including your own thoughts and opinions.
You should complete this task for any of the portrait artists you have found during your study
or any from the list researched on page 3.

SELF PORTRAIT
Task 5: From a photograph or using a mirror, produce your own self portrait in the style of any
artist you have studied in this project. Your portrait should reflect the style of the artist you
have looked at and you can use any media. If you want to work bigger please feel free, simply stick a photo of
your outcome here and bring it with you when you hand in your project. (Minimum 2 hours)
