l Geographic Location: Bandar Imam Petrochemical Complex is located on the northwest side of the
Persian Gulf at Khuzestan Province at a distance of 160 km to the southeast of Ahwaz and 84 km to the
east of Imam Khomeini port.
l Area: 270 Hectares
l Founded in: 1971 (In 1972 a Joint Venture agreement between the National Petrochemical Company
of Iran and five Japanese companies was signed)
l Ownership: Persian Gulf Petrochemical Company (69.27%), Justice Shares Broker Co. (30%), Preferred

l Management Structure: In line with decentralization policy in 2000, BIPC restructured its management
organization by establishing five independent subsidiaries as follows in order to boost its productivity and
a better potentiality achievement.

Ethane (C2), Butane and C5 which are the output from Gas-Liquid separation (NF) plant
provide the feedstock for olefins & fuels.
Output from the olefin plant provides the main feedstock for the BIPC’S polymer plants.
Benzene, mixed xylenes & paraxylene which are the output of Aromatic plants are used
in the production of paints, plastic industries, production of PTA and chemical industrial
solvents.
