We set standards
The BWF Group has been an owner managed business for four generations with
headquarters in Offingen/Bavaria. 1,300 employees in ten production facilities
around the world make sure that the company sets standards on an international
level through innovation, competence and commitment. We are close to the
market, highly flexible and our decision-making process is fast and efficient,
thereby ensuring the best possible service for our customers. The four divisions
of the BWF Group operate independently within their market segments.
Filter media for industrial dedusting
BWF Envirotec is the world‘s leading provider of
filter media for industrial dedusting, product
filtration and solid/liquid separation. Our products
are installed in power stations, waste incineration
plants and in the cement and steel industry.
Technical needle felts
BWF Protec in Hof develops and produces
technical needle felt roll goods, endless felt stripes
as well as needled and custom products. Some of
our standard applications are felts for rollers,
transport and heat protection as well as workplace
safety. Additionally, the felt is used for insulating,
cleaning, sealing and separating applications.
Under-collar felts, decorative felts, technical felts
For almost 120 years now, BWF Feltec has been a
leading manufacturer of traditional wool felt. Natural and
synthetic needle felts complete our product range. Due
to constant new developments, we set standards in the
field of under-collar felts, coloured and decorative felts,
technical wool and needle felts.
Extruded and thermoformed plastic parts
BWF Profiles is market leader in Europe and Asia for
the extrusion of plastic profiles, tubes and sheets.
Thermoformed plastic parts, made by our subsidiary
BWF Thermoforms, further enhance our product
range. Our products are used for lighting applications, illuminated advertising, railway carriage
lighting and POS/display installations.

We work for clean air.
In order to provide our customers with an optimum
solution for their exhaust filtration needs, we apply
the experience gained in more than 40 years of researching, developing and implementing filter media.
We guarantee that emissions remain under the legal
limit for fine dust particles and contribute to reduce
power consumption.
Suitable for every kind of dust,
gas or temperature
BWF Envirotec is expert in producing
filter media for industrial dedusting. BWF
Envirotec offers the needlona®, PM-Tec
or Pyrotex® KE85 product lines in
custom-cut dimensions to suit your
individual requirements. These filter
media are ideal for filtering the most
varied kinds of dust:
• abrasive dust
• agglomerating dust
• free flowing dust
• pyrophoric dust
• acid and alkaline dust
• humid, oily and sticky dust
BWF Envirotec filter media filter the
exhaust of waste incinerators and
power stations.
Needle felt filter media
needlona® needle felt can be used for a wide variety of
applications and under different conditions due to their
versatile design. Its special feature is that the needlona®
needle felt fibre layer is applied on a stable scrim base,
resulting in excellent durability and longer life time.

Fine dust filter media with ePTFE membrane
PM-Tec filter media achieve a submicron fine dust filter result
thanks to a calendered ePTFE membrane. Smooth and sturdy
lamination made from expanded PTFE results in excellent
filtering and dedusting performance. PM-Tec filter media can
also be used for high-temperature applications.
High-temperature filter media
Pyrotex®KE85 is the perfect product for high-temperature
applications up to 850°C. In addition, the fibre material is
bio-soluble according to EU standard Q67/69/EC and is
absolutely harmless.

The history of the BWF Group
Four generations – more than 100 years
The fusion of two independent wool felt companies in
1962 resulted in the foundation of the “Bayerische
Wollfilzfabriken KG Offermann, Zeiler, Schmid & Co.
KG Offingen Hof”(BWF). One of the original companies was founded in 1892 by Theodor Wilhelm
Schmid and his partners in Hof and the other one
four years later in Offingen by the entrepreneurs
Silbermann and Lembert. In 1912, Johann Offermann
took over the Lembert shares. Until their fusion, both
companies had been in the felt production industry.
In 1956, BWF succeeded in producing the first
extruded plastic “Plexigum” profile. This milestone
marks the foundation of BWF Profiles. Expansion of
activities into the filter media segment led to the
foundation in 1968 of BWF Envirotec, which pioneered
filter media production in Europe. In the following
decades, until the turn of the millennium, BWF successfully managed to set foot in the USA, Italy and
China. Installation of further international production
facilities in Turkey and India characterised the past
decade at BWF Group under the fourth generation of
owner-management.
