ABOUT THE CDPHP WORKFORCE TEAM CHALLENGE

The CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge is the
largest annual road race between Utica and New
York City.
l
There were 9,200 runners and 470 participating
teams in the 2011 race — a record turnout.
2012 is the 32nd anniversary of the race.
l
All 31 previous editions of this event have been
produced, directed and hosted by the Hudson
Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC).
l
The 3.5-mile race has been held in downtown
Albany since its inception.
l
The race starts and finishes at the Empire State
Plaza and winds through historic downtown Albany
streets and beautiful Washington Park.
l
The event is organized by, and serves as the major
fundraiser for, the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners
Club, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which
has a roster of 2,000 members throughout the
Capital Region.
Beginning in 2004, HMRRC selected a “charity of
choice” and encourages sponsors and participants
to add a contribution to their fee, which is donated
to the charity.
Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan, Inc.
(CDPHP®) is the title sponsor.
To participate in the race, all runners and walkers
must be part of a team from a company, government
agency, school or not-for-profit organization.
All participants receive t-shirts and light refreshments
immediately following the race.
ABOUT THE HUDSON MOHAWK ROAD RUNNERS CLUB

The Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club is a
501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization
incorporated in 1971 and currently has more than
2,800 members from throughout the Capital District.
HMRRC is one of the largest running clubs
in the nation.
Since 1981, the HMRRC has relied on the
Workforce Team Challenge as the Club’s major
fundraiser to underwrite the Club’s many activities
and services, including:

exercise and running
A monthly running magazine — The Pacesetter —
offering training, nutrition and conditioning
advice
30 other running events a year, held at different
locations throughout the Capital Region, that are
open to the public and designed for runners of

conditioning

links to helpful sites
