President’s Report
From the Desk of David Duer
The month of August has been a very busy time for the Roswell Chamber of
Commerce and for the community as school is now in session. The Chamber has
put a survey out to the membership to keep all information about your business
as accurate as possible. Make sure that you fill this out and send it back in to the
office staff. Our membership is very important to us and we want to make sure
that we are able to serve you, so if you are not receiving information or if have
changes please let us know.
David Duer
I want to express how proud I was that the Roswell
Invaders won the World Series for their league the first
year. I am so excited to have another season. They
played great baseball and I want to thank everybody that supported them.
The Chamber of Commerce hosted your 11th Annual Business Showcase held at the Roswell Convention
and Civic Center on August 11th. The Showcase was attended by numerous individuals and businesses
were thrilled to show off their key products.
President, Board of
Directors
2011-2012
The Roswell Chamber of Commerce was co-host in the Out of this World Job Fair along with Work Force
Connection, Hispano Chamber of Commerce, Eastern New Mexico University - Roswell, Congressman
Steve Pearce and Economic Development. There were over 60 businesses with hundreds of jobs to offer
and over 500 employees looking for a job. This was held at the Roswell Convention and Civic Center
August 16th and was a terrific success! Congressman Steve Pearce along with Mayor Del Jurney
addressed the group and officially opened the event with a Ribbon Cutting from the Roswell Ambassadors
(RedCoats). Tim Keithly from Congressman Pearce’s office was the M.C. for the event and a fashion show
was hosted by the Eastern New Mexico University – Roswell.
The Chamber of Commerce sponsored two very fine young artists at the Roswell Fine Arts League & New
Mexico Miniature Arts Society 28th Annual Juried Art Show held at the Roswell Museum and Art Center on
August 18th.
Business after Hours this month was held at J.P. Stone Community Bank. Kenneth Berry and his staff had the
bank decorated to the hilt! Thank you all for such a wonderful and successful event on August 23rd. The
Business after Hours Event’s are provided for the Members of the Roswell Chamber of Commerce to
extend an opportunity to market you and your business and to network with other business owners and
professionals throughout the community. Who knows your business better than you do? Is there any
doubt that you are your own best marketing brochure? Take advantage of these community activities to
promote who and what your business does and the benefit you can bring to everyone.
Thank you to Sonny Espinoza and Chris Simons for bringing the awareness of the Health Care Reform to the
attention of businesses in Roswell. The Roswell Chamber of Commerce is hosting a series of Health Care
Reform seminars to let you know how this Reform will affect your business and how you can be pro-active.
The 1st seminar was held on August 26th with another series on September 30th, so make sure that you get a
seat and hear how the Reform changes are taking place.
