Cannons Creek Water Polo Tournament
Herschel entered 2 teams into the annual Cannons Creek U13 Water Polo tournament this past weekend. There
were 32 boys and girls teams from around the country and it was an incredible experience for our girls.
Our A team were up against strong opposition and after their 7 pool matches finished 3rd and booked themselves
a place in the semi-finals. They played a strong Sun Valley team who are 2nd in the province and gave them a run
for their money, only narrowly losing the game. They then met Wynberg in the 3rd and 4th play-off matches and
beat them convincingly to come 3rd overall. This is an amazing achievement as Herschel only moved up into the A
section this year. Well done to the whole team!
Hānim Abrahams was awarded a trophy for the best U13 girl defender and Tayla Brown won the trophy for the
top U13 girl goal scorer, both of these girls were also selected for the tournament ‘all stars’ team.
For the first time we entered a second team into the Pool B section, of which most
of the girls were U12. They did exceptionally well as for most of them it was their
first tournament. Out of the 8 teams in their pool, 6 were U13A teams and they did
well to win 4 of their 7 matches and finish 4th overall in their Pool B section. Well
done to this whole team.
