Dorms and hostels are the most convenient and affordable
type of accommodation in South Beach. It is very practical
for students because the options available are located within

is easily accessible to public transportation for all other areas
of Miami-Dade and important landmarks. By sharing rooms,
students will experience typical student life, spend their free

Homestay
Hotels
Homestay in Miami Beach is a very unique experience due
to the history of the city. Most families are fully bilingual,
which comes from a strong Latin/Hispanic influence in the
area, even though the hosts were raised in the United States.
The students will spend quality time with the members of
the family, as they also learn about the American and Latin
cultures. Since Zoni is conveniently located in popular South
Beach, with a large concentration of tourists, hotels, shops
and restaurants, most of our host families live within Miami
Beach and North Miami Beach, in typically residential areas.
There are over 100 hotels available in South Beach from
all different sizes, rates and star ratings. Upon request, our
representatives will be glad to assist our students finding
the most suitable option according to the budget and quality
level requested. Local sales taxes are generally applicable to
all hotel daily rates.

IMPORTANT NOTE!
Hotel reservations are only accepted by providing a credit card number. Rooms in most hotels tend to book fast due to the high volume of tourists and events in the area. Therefore, we recommend early reservations in order to guarantee your space.
The Zoni Option
Since 2007, Zoni students have been referred to the Clay Hotel
for its proximity to the school, strategic location and low cost. It
is a very “beach-style” hotel, simple and clean, great for students
who want to spend almost “zero” time commuting and enjoy the
nightlife in South Beach.
The Clay Hotel offers single, double and triple rooms with private
bathrooms and cable TV.
Helpful Tips for Students
Before departure…
• Purchase insurance in your home country; it will always be more expensive to purchase after you arrive.
• If using Zoni accommodations, make sure to review all of the rules before departure. • Check the weather before leaving and bring appropriate clothing. However, in Miami, remember to bring a jacket; sometimes it is very cold in the air conditioning!
• Remember to pack all medications from your home country and the prescriptions
• Make sure to bring these items on the plane with you:
oYour passport and I-20
o The address of your accommodations along with directions and the phone number, just in case.
o A credit card and extra money, in case of emergency.
o Any phone numbers you may need, including the number for Zoni
o A toothbrush and extra clothes in case of emergency
• Make copies of all important documents to bring with you and leave with your family.
• Be aware of the refund policy and the terms and conditions for accommodations.
After arrival…
• Contact your family as soon as you arrive
• If you arrive early, visit the school before your starting date to take the placement test early and know where
the school is located
• On your first day of class, make sure to bring: your I-20, passport and I-94
• Make sure you have submitted all of your payments before your first day, or be prepared to pay the rest
before starting classes.
• If you have any concerns, just talk to us! We will help you as best we can.
• On your last day of class, don’t forget to sign the withdrawal form
• Have fun! Make friends! Participate in the activities on the Zoni social calendar to meet new people and
practice your English!
In general, most states prohibit:
•
•
•
•
Public consumption of alcohol
Drinking while driving
Texting or talking on the phone while driving
Littering
Also keep in mind:
• Safety belt use is mandatory in most states
• When parking near the school, check to see whether there are any
time restrictions
• Dial 911 only for emergency (any serious medical problem, any type
of fire or any life threatening situation)

Zoni – Toronto
Yonge Eglinton has what everyone is looking for – and then some. This city is within a city and offers everything one
would expect from a vibrant community.
The ‘rush’ of downtown, yet the ‘calm’ of uptown, has given Yonge Eglinton its unique and attractive reputation. A hub
of activity, the popular intersection of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue touts a subway station, bus terminal, shopping
centre and various commercial and residential towers.
From this focal point, you can expect to find a mix of commercial, retail and residential development which spans several
city blocks: from Davisville Ave. to the south, Lawrence Ave. to the north, Avenue Rd. on the west and Mt. Pleasant Rd.
to the east.

The Bridge Program
The Bridge Program for Children and Youth
Children (aged 8 - 12) and Youth (aged 13 - 18)
The Bridge Program is designed to help elementaryand secondary-school international students make a
smooth transition from their school system into a
Canadian school system.
Core components of the Bridge Program:
• Extensive English and Language Arts
• A strong focus on the communication skills needed for
Math, Science, Social Studies, Information Technology,
Fine Arts and other non-academic subjects
• Extra-curricular activities that enhance social and personal
development
• Follows the BC curriculum as determined by the Ministry
of Education
Schooling in Canada:
Most elementary and secondary schools in Canada have a
limit to the number of international students that they can
accept each year and starting dates are either September or
February. The Bridge Program allows students to maintain
their academic pace and gives them an advantage over
students who may not have attended any readiness programs.
We also have a referral system in place for graduates of our
program – many go on to attend local Vancouver and Toronto
area schools.
Some of our international students are here for the cultural
experience and to learn more English, with no plans to enroll
in a Canadian school. These students also benefit from the
rich learning environment and take home many new skills and
strategies that will be useful on their own educational path.
