**Seminar on Springer Author Workshop at the Eben Al-Haitham In-Service Training
Center in collaboration with The Research Administration:
As part of the project on «the Role of PAAET in Enhancing Research», a seminar in title «Springer Author Workshop» was
held in cooperation with Virtus company. It was given by Springer
Middle East Senior Editor Chris Bundle and Edanz Senior Editor
Dr. Warren Raye, and in the presence of the Deputy Director-General
for Applied Education and Research Prof. Fatma Al-Kandari.
During this seminar, the Deputy Director-General for Applied
Education and Research, Prof. Fatma Al-Kandari confirmed that the
goal of this seminar was based on the recommendations to support
the role of research in development. She added that the essential goal
is mainly improving the quality of the researches presented. It is
important to work on scientific fields development to reach
preference standards in selection.
The team leader of project on «the Role of PAAET in Enhancing
Research» Prof. Dalal Al-Hadhoud said that the goal of this workshop
is to train faculty members on writing and publishing research in Springer, as one of the companies that assists the investigator
with digital publishing. She added that this workshop is one of the events held by the project on «the Role of PAAET in Enhancing
Research», and she concluded by referring to the necessity of achieving the wish of His Highness Amir of the country to change
Kuwait into a commercial and financial center by preparing these researches.
**Congratulations to the Winners of the Sixth Round of the Khalifa Award for Education 2012/2013:
The Research Administration would like to give the utmost congratulations to Prof. Dalal Al-Hadhoud, faculty
member at the college of Basic Education in the Foundations and
Educational Administration Department, on the win of the sixth
round of the Khalifa award for education 2012/2013 in the
General Education Research Category for the analytic field study
in title “Academic Reliance Standards in Some Developed
Educational Programs Via WIDS System at the College of Basic
Education in Light of Some Changes”.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of Deputy Prime
Minister, UAE Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Chairman of
the Award’s Board of Trustees His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin
Zayed Al-Nahyan.
This is considered a privilege and an honor to a great academy such as the Public Authority for Applied Education and
Training. We wish her further success for the enhancement of education and serving our country.
**In addition , we extend our congratulations to Prof. Abdul-Rahman Khalid Al-Othman, faculty member at the college of
Technological Studies in the Electrical Engineering department on receiving the Scientific Production Award 2012 in the
field of Engineering Sciences.

As a faculty member, are you pleased with the research you have conducted in the academic
area and professional field?
- Yes, I am pleased and satisfied with the researches I have conducted, and the ones I will, hopefully, conduct later.

Have you ever published in reviewed academic journals?
- I have published many researches. A total of (19) researches.

In your opinion, what are the motivations for conducting research?
- Serve the country, raise the value of the organization I affiliate with, and scientific enjoyment.

In your opinion, Do you think that faculty
members conduct research for promotion and
academic title purposes?
- Unfortunately, I believe there is truth to this. As for myself I have received
promotion to the academic rank of Professor. After the Promotion I have
completed four researches and published them in reviewed academic journals,
and I am currently working on research projects. Also, I would like to
mention that I have recently visited the Federal University of agriculture,
Abeokuta – Nigeria in august 2013 for research enhancement and continuance.
What obstacles have you encountered before, during, and after the research conduct?

Lack of time due to my increased teaching responsibilities as result of shortage in number of faculty members.

Some Investigators aim to conduct research to place their names on it but without effective participation.

Some organizations wish to participate in research, however; their goal unfortunately is to take and execute the idea without
acknowledgment to the originator.

What do you think of PAAET research support system and website? And what are your
suggestions on the system and the administration website?
- The online system is good and I thank everyone who is working on it. Also, I wish them success and to continue its development as an
advanced online system that serves investigators. I suggest that the investigator conduct multiple researches simultaneously especially if they
are low budget researches.
13. A final word to investigators at PAAET?
- I would like to recommend you to continue conducting researches and studies that are important to the country and enhance research which
benefit our beloved country and bring excellence to the investigator.

- PAAET has Supported 2 research projects. One is completed and the other is ongoing.
- Radiation Physics
- Yes, in the field of Environmental Radiation Physics, and I would like to conduct some studies on the Renewable
Energies field.

Have you been supported by External organizations? Are you satisfied with this
support?
- Yes, I have a completed research project that was funded by external organizations in title “Short-Term Study on
Radon Gas Level Inside Houses in the State of Kuwait”. The project was funded by two organizations: the Environment
Public Authority and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences. I am very satisfied with their work and
follow-ups.

- Yes, the research Project in title “Short-Term Study on Radon Gas Level Inside Houses in the State of Kuwait” was
suggested by the Arab Atomic Energy Agency. In addition, I have participated in researches with foreign Organizations
abroad even though I finance some projects on my own expense. Thankfully, The results were good.

**Amendment of "the Research Support Regulations and Procedures at PAAET "Decree ;
The seventh paragraph of the regulations and provisions in article six, chapter three of the research
support regulations and procedures at PAAET issued by PAAET decree No. 612/2012 was amended as follows:
1. The faculty and training members shall not have the right to the financial and in kind advantages indicated in the
research support regulations and procedures at PAAET in case they benefit from the same financial and in kind advantages
indicated in the scientific leave for faculty and training members that is enforced by PAAET.
2. The faculty and training members fully delegated outside PAAET shall not have the right to obtain research contracts
from the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training.
