QUIET and ORDERLY fashion, and depart as directed. Please remain
seated in your pews until a council member indicates your row should go
forward. If you are standing in the back of the nave, please wait until all
seated parishioners have gone forward and a council member indicates you
should go ahead.
In receiving Communion, you should place the cloth under your chin, recite
your CHRISTIAN NAME, and wipe your mouth after receiving. Women,
please remove your lipstick prior to receiving Communion.

Epistle Reading
Acts of the Apostles 11:19-30
IN THOSE DAYS, those apostles who were scattered because of the
persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and
Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to none except Jews. But there
were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who on coming to Antioch
spoke to the Greeks also, preaching the Lord Jesus. And the hand of the
Lord was with them, and a great number that believed turned to the Lord.
News of this came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent
Barnabas to Antioch. When he came and saw the grace of God, he was
glad; and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with
steadfast purpose; for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of
faith. And a large company was added to the Lord. So Barnabas went to
Tarsus to look for Saul; and when he had found him, he brought him to
Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church, and taught a large
company of people; and in Antioch the disciples were for the first time
called Christians. Now in these days prophets came down from Jerusalem
to Antioch. And one of them named Agabos stood up and foretold by the
Spirit that there would be a great famine over all the world; and this took
place in the days of Claudius. And the disciples determined, every one
according to his ability, to send relief to the brethren who lived in Judea,
and they did so, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
Gospel Reading
John 4:5-42
At that time, Jesus came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the field
that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Jacob's well was there, and so Jesus, wearied
as he was with his journey, sat down beside the well. It was about the sixth
hour.
There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give
me a drink." For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. The
Samaritan woman said to him, "How is it that you, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a
woman of Samaria?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. Jesus
answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you,
'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him and he would have given you
living water." The woman said to him, "Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and
the well is deep; where do you get that living water? Are you greater than our
father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, and his sons, and
his cattle?" Jesus said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst
again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst; the
water that I shall give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to
4
eternal life." The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water, that I may not
thirst, nor come here to draw."
Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here." The woman
answered him, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You are right in saying,
'I have no husband'; for you have had five husbands, and he whom you now
have is not your husband; this you said truly." The woman said to him, "Sir, I
perceive that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain; and
you say that Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship." Jesus said to
her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain
nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not
know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour
is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in
spirit and truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him. God is spirit, and
those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." The woman said to
him, "I know that the Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ); when he
comes, he will show us all things." Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am
he."
Just then his disciples came. They marveled that he was talking with a
woman, but none said, "What do you wish?" or, "Why are you talking with
her?" So the woman left her water jar, and went away into the city and said to
the people, "Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the
Christ?" They went out of the city and were coming to him.
Meanwhile the disciples besought him, saying "Rabbi, eat." But he said to them,
"I have food to eat of which you do not know." So the disciples said to one
another, "Has anyone brought him food?" Jesus said to them, "My food is to do
the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work. Do you not say,
'There are yet four months, then comes the harvest'? I tell you, lift up your eyes,
and see how the fields are already white for harvest. He who reaps receives
wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice
together. For here the saying holds true, 'One sows and another reaps.' I sent
you to reap that for which you did not labor; others have labored, and you have
entered into their labor."
Many Samaritans from that city believed in him because of the
woman's testimony. "He told me all that I ever did." So when the Samaritans
came to him, they asked him to stay with them; and he stayed there two days.
And many more believed because of his word. They said to the woman, "It is
no longer because of your words that we believe, for we have heard ourselves,
and we know that this is indeed Christ the Savior of the world."

Recognizing Women of Holy Trinity Who Have Served in
the Armed Forces or the Peace Corps
PROJECT RECOGNIZE is a very special effort organized by
the Daughters of Penelope nationally to recognize women from
the parishes throughout the United States who have served or
continue to serve in any of the Armed Forces and the Peace
Corps. We have been asked to submit the names of women
(living or deceased) from Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church
in Dallas who have served our country.
The data collected will be placed in the Archives of the
Daughters of Penelope.
If you or anyone in your family or circle of friends at Holy
Trinity have served in the Armed Forces or the Peace Corps, we
would be honored to submit your names to the Project Recognize
Chairman at the end of this month. You do not need to be a
Daughter of Penelope for this special recognition.
Please submit the following to Antigoni Pappas at
[email protected]:

Dates of Service: If you are submitting someone else’s name
and do not know exact dates, it is fine to submit an approximate

Holy and Great Council
As a member of the Holy Synod this year,
Metropolitan Isaiah is a part of the
Ecumenical Patriarchate delegation for the
Holy and Great Council which will be held
in Crete next month (June 16-27, 2016). All
parishioners of the Metropolis are
encouraged to pray individually and
collectively for the safe travel of the
hierarchs, advisors, and stewards who will be participating, and
moreover for the successful completion of the Council for the
benefit of the global Church. A website has been created for the
Holy and Great Council, which contains information and
resources for parish use. The site can be found at:

Founded in 1983, Austin Street Center is an emergency
shelter that serves men ages 45 and older and women ages
18 and older. Each person who finds shelter with us is
provided a safe place to sleep, showers, clothing, and
meals. Once their basic needs are met, they can begin working on other aspects of
their lives that will help them transition out of homelessness.
On the first Tuesday of each month, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox
Church generously prepares, delivers and serves a delicious meal to the
clients of the Austin Street Shelter in downtown Dallas. This ministry has
been in place approaching 17 years, serving over 80,000 meals during that
time.
The menu of Greek-style baked chicken, green beans, good ole
Festival rice, a slice of bread and a piece of homemade cake, followed with a
cold glass of milk...is a hit every time.
We need volunteers to help us prepare the meal here at Holy
Trinity. If you would like to donate your time to this wonderful service
opportunity, please send an email to [email protected].
Thanks,
Dean Xeros

Stewardship Ambassador
By Demi Tomasides
When I was considering what to say about stewardship, my first
thought went to the different elements of the church and how they
enhance our relationship with the Lord. My second thought was, “Wait
a minute. These gifts don’t just show up on the doorstep every Sunday
morning (Although that would be really cool).” No, just as they are gifts
from God to us, they are also gifts from us to God.
We just celebrated Holy Week—a week where it’s very possible
to practically live in the church with all the services going on. And
though I’ve been through sixteen Holy Weeks before, this year was the
first time it really occurred to me… some of the things I love most about
Holy Week are made possible by the aid of tangible objects. From the
palms on Palm Sunday, to the oil we’re anointed with on Wednesday, to
the flowers that cover the Epitafio…even to the booklets that guide us
through the Lamentations. All of the things that make this the greatest
week of the year are made possible by the wonderful generosity of our
Holy Trinity congregation. Every dollar we put in the tray, every
stewardship card we renew, helps pay for these gifts.
We’re only human so sometimes we need these tangible, earthly
reminders to help us connect with God. We’re fortunate our church is
able to provide us with these things through the generosity of our
parishioners. So, whether it’s the candles, the hymnals, or the flowers, by
putting your dollar into the tray (or your Yiayia’s dollar as the case may
be) we are helping provide God’s gift to us, and consequently our gift to
Him.
Thank you to all stewards who have submitted their 2016 Stewardship cards. If you have
not submitted a card for 2016, please do it today. The new Stewardship Policy asks ALL stewards
to complete a new card for 2016.
In addition, please consider fulfilling your pledge month by month or more frequently.
Our church budget runs much more smoothly when pledges come in evenly throughout the year.
