On Friday January 22, 2016 at the Ottawa Police Services on
Elgin St. the National Capital Area Crime Stoppers received
a resounding endorsement and acknowledgment for their efforts
in the community and making it a safer place. The event was
hosted by Richard McMullen, President of National Capital Area
Crime Stoppers, and included speeches by Councilor Eli ElChantiry, Chair of the Ottawa Police Services Board, Ottawa
centre MPP Yasir Naqvi, Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau
and Dave Forster, President of the Ontario Association of
Crime Stoppers.

The event was attended by members of the media including CTV,
CFRA and the article “Improved Crime Stoppers tips net more
guns, stolen property, arrests” was written up by the Ottawa

Ottawa Prescription Frauds
On Monday June 2 nd 2014 the suspect attended a drug store
on Bank Street in Ottawa where he filled a fraudulent
prescription for drugs. A few days later on June 6th 2014 the
same male suspect attended another pharmacy located on St
Joseph Blvd, Orleans. Once there, he attempted to fill another
prescription for the same narcotic but was unsuccessful.

National Capital Area Crime Stoppers is a volunteer organization whose goal is
to assist police to solve crimes. We do so by offering rewards to callers who
provide information anonymously regarding a crime. Community awareness and
engagement are our two main priorities. We are looking for volunteers to join
our Board of Directors which meets monthly. If you have experience in
fundraising or communications and would like the opportunity to join we would be
happy to speak with you. The right volunteer will preferably have prior
experience in the charitable sector and able to commit to 10 hours every month
including attending one monthly Board meeting. Please contact us

Ottawa: Residential Break Ins
The Ottawa Police Service Break & Enter Team and Crime
Stoppers are warning the public of a series of residential
break-ins that have occurred over the past three weeks across
the city. A total of nine break-ins have occurred in the
daytime and involve forced entry into secure homes.
The suspect(s) is targeting the homes of persons of Asian
descent with the goal of getting high-end jewellry and
accessories such as handbags.
In some cases, safes were defeated to gain access to them
steal the contents. Ottawa Police would like to urge
public who may have valuable jewellery and/or gold bars
coins to consider placing these items in a safety deposit
and not keep these items in their home.

The National Capital Area Crime Stoppers held its Annual
General Meeting on June 26th, 2013 and are pleased to announce
the election of Mr. Richard McMullen as President. Joining him
on the Executive will be Mr. Liam Farrell as Secretary and Ms.
Monique Krempig as Treasurer. Mr. Jim Tugwell will continue to
serve as Vice-President. Each brings extensive knowledge and
expertise to the board, including having served at the
Director level.
The Board would like to acknowledge the excellent work and
dedication of immediate past President, Mr. Wayne Bissett. We
would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Mr.
Chuck Everett who has been a long term Secretary and
Treasurer. Both Mr. Bissett and Mr. Everett will continue to
serve on the board.

Crime Stoppers rewards for tips that have helped shut down
marijuana grow operations and stop the theft of power.
National Capital Area Crime Stoppers provides cash rewards for
those who anonymously provide information in order to
help Ottawa police detect and solve crime.

charges were laid for possession for the purpose of
trafficking and theft of electricity.

these cases.

Councillor Hubley Stands up
to Bus Shelter Vandalism
Wednesday April 17, 2013
Kanata – Councillor Allan Hubley of Kanata South is teaming up
with Crime Stoppers to put an end to bus shelter vandalism in
his ward.
“I have heard from many residents who are tired of the
disrespect being shown to public and private property,” says
Hubley. “This has become a concern for the community and an
unnecessary cost to tax payers.”
The Councillor has contributed $500 towards a reward for
information leading to the arrest of an individual or
individuals who are responsible for damaging OC Transpo bus
shelters in the community.

Ottawa Pharmacy Robbery East
End
On Thursday, March 21, at approximately 2:00 am, a lone
suspect entered a pharmacy situated along the 1900 block of
Portobello Drive in Orleans. The suspect produced a note
making a demand for a prescription drug (not Fentanyl) and
cough syrup with codeine.
The suspect fled with several
bottles of cough syrup. There were no injuries.
The suspect is described as being a black male, approx. 6
feet tall (183 centimeters), medium build, clean shaven,
wearing a black cap with a red visor, a black coat with fur
trim (possibly Canada Goose). He was English speaking. (see

UPDATE: MALE HAS BEEN ARRESTED.
On Saturday December 8th, 2012 shortly after 5pm a male
suspect armed with a gun entered a gas station located in the
2100 block of Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa.
The male approached the counter once customers had left and
made a demand for cash and cigarettes. He used a disguise to
cover his face. He was last seen fleeing on foot to the rear
of the building. The same male is believed to be responsible
for other similar robberies. No one was injured in the
incident.
Desc; black male, slim build, 5’8″ to 6 feet tall, wearing
a black jacket, black hooded sweatshirt underneath jacket with
hood pulled over his head, red St. Louis Cardinals baseball
cap and grey cloth covering his face. English speaking with a
noticeable accent.
