體現 勤儉忠信 精神
This booklet is to compliment the endeavors and selfless contributions of the business and community elite and leaders
to the well-being of our world, our nation and our community, and the betterment of our students and teachers through
the sharing of their valuable life experiences so eagerly and openly. By interviewing the prominent community leaders,
our students and teachers have an in-depth understanding of their positive values and attitudes, which will be the focus
of our school-based values education in line with Tung Wah values -“Diligence, Frugality, Loyalty and Faithfulness”
and it is hoped that our students will be guided to the teaching by our noble and eminent leaders who also have close
connections to the developments of our school. Values Education is not distant from the daily lives of our students,
which is instead very lively and resonant in their blessings to our students at every corner in the school. It is our great
honour to have invited the following important and influential philanthropist and businesspersons namely, Mr. Sze
Wing Hang, Ivan, Chairman (2014-2015) of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Mrs. Rossana Gaw and her Gaw’s Family Mr Goodwin, Mr Kenneth and Ms Christina Gaw, School Donor, and Mr Sunny Tan, School Supervisor and 5th ViceChairman (2014-2015) of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. It is a great time for our schoolmates and teachers to have
a thorough understanding of those committed and devoted leaders paying tribute to our society, to our school for the
benefit of our students. This booklet is issued as a bridge to show our earnestness and ardour to the preaching of positive
values, morality and attitudes to our next generation sustainably. This school-based values education will be working in
parallel with the one promoted by TWGHs, which will benefit all the S. C. Gawers eternally.
“By three methods we may learn wisdom: first, by reflection, which is noblest;
second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third, by experience, which is the most bitter.”
Confucius Quote
“With faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty,
there is nothing worth while that you cannot achieve.”
Muhammad Ali Jinnah (25 December 1876 – 11 September 1948) Quote, a lawyer, politician, and
the founder of Pakistan
It is my aspiration that all S. C. Gawers will learn to be selfless, to be devoted to duty and imitate the positive behaviors,
values and attitudes of our community leaders as a habit at their stage of adolescence and adulthood.

Teaching Philosophy
This learning and teaching package mainly focuses on the promotion of values and morality education in a more
pragmatic and practical manner by using the real-life experiences of closely-connected community leaders to Tung Wah
and our school as stimulation to motivate students to understand how the underlying values system is driving each of
them to contribute to the betterment of our community, our nation and the world. As well, this package is aimed at
promoting Tung Wah values to be embedded into the innermost feelings of each of the students so that the students will
possess the right values and attitudes to encounter challenges in the future. The sharing of each of the leaders concerning
values, morality and attitudes will be used mainly in Homeroom Periods and Morning Assembly.
In addition to values education, it is our obligation to design a set of school-based teaching package for Business
Education, Integrated Humanities and Liberal Studies. The business and finance experiences of each of the eminent
leaders are so valuable that this knowledge is conducive to the understanding of some complicated theories and the
business trends of Hong Kong, China, Asia and the world. It is sure that the students taking BAFS will get benefits. The
elements related to China will be widely used in Integrated Humanities and Liberal Studies so that our students will
have a more exposure towards the latest developments in China.
At last, S. C. Gaw has a close connection to the compatriots (Overseas Chinese) who have continuously offered blessings
and support to the development of the school and it is a great opportunity to let our students understand more about
the history of the Overseas Chinese, the reasons for their ancestors or family deciding to do business overseas, and their
values system and rationale behind patriotism and education. It is our ultimate aim to let the students understand more
about the hardships facing different people and hard work is the key to success.
Design of Learning and Teaching Materials
The interview materials of different leaders will be used as visual materials as stimulus to raise the motivation level
of each of the students. As well, it is a good way to let our students understand more about the School Donor, TW
Chairman and School Supervisor who are dedicated to the developments of the school so earnestly. The school will
design a variety of learning and teaching worksheets for different levels and there will be some guiding questions for the
students to respond to.
It is speculated that the materials related to values and attitudes will be mainly designed for the whole school
Homeroom Periods and Morning Assembly and there will be cross-curricular collaboration among teachers to promote
how the values and attitudes of our leaders can be working in parallel with the ones upheld by TWGHs. The teaching
materials will be used to foster the understanding of the students towards how TWGHs contribute to the well-being of
our society, so do our VIPs.
In terms of the cultivation of a sense of belonging to our school, there will be another set of teaching materials related to
the blessings given by our community leaders towards the strengths of S. C. Gaw. This package will be used in the Form
1 classes as a kind of bridging programme.
As mentioned before, the teaching package about China and global business will be applied to the senior subjects such
as BAFS and Liberal Studies in which the corresponding teachers will select relevant materials for sharing with the
students in classroom setting. The students will grasp more updated knowledge to facilitate their studies.
Integrated Humanities will have a selection of some elements for personal money management and personal
development. The package will be used in the classroom setting supported by the teacher presentations.

education in our curriculum, and to let our students

education, the business world, TWGHs and our school,
three of our Form 5 students, Lee Cheong Wai, Brian,
Law Pui Kwan and Tse Chak Lam had a glorious and
delightful opportunity to visit and interview the whole
Gaw’s family for information to design the school-based
learning and teaching materials for the benefits of the
students in the academic year 2014-2015 onwards.
Before the interview, the students endeavored to design
different types of interviewing questions to elicit
responses from the renowned, reputed and respectful
Gaw’s family members in the following aspects:
8
»» Opportunities and threats facing hotel and
catering industry in the world;
»» Development of Hospitality Industry in Hong
Kong and China;
»» Influence of globalization on the development
of hotel industry;

front of VIPs and to present their questions in a clear,
articulate and eloquent way. Also, they said that they
enjoyed the interviewing time with the Gaw’s family in

`
Our students Interviewing our TW Chairman, Sze Wing Hang, Ivan
for School-based Tung Wah and Liberal Studies Teaching Materials
On 28th August, 2014, a group of our students, teaching
staff and technicians accompanied by our Principal spent
the whole morning interviewing our Chairman, Mr
Sze Wing Hang, Ivan at the Headquarter of Tung Wah
Group of Hospitals in Po Yan Street. Our students have
worked very hard and prepared a number of questions
related to the opportunities and threats facing real
estates in China, the influence of globalization on the
development of real estates in China, the differences
between Shanghai and Hong Kong, the importance of
education to the next generation, and his expectations
on the growth of teenagers. The students were touched
by Mr. Sze’s enthusiasm in responding to the questions
related to the recent development of China and he tried
to provide ample examples to widen the horizons of the
students. His knowledge about the construction industry
in China has helped our students understand more about
China in another perspective. It is known that ignorance
is the main obstacle leading to misunderstanding. By
listening to the explanations provided by Mr. Sze, our
students have had deeper understanding of China,
which is also a place caring about the living standard of
her citizens.
12
As well, our students have been showing their interests
in finding out the reasons why Mr. Sze is so dedicated
to TWGHs and he has shown his blueprint planning in
the development of TWGHs in terms of medical and
welfare aspects. In the interview, the students have had
a great time to learn from a prominent public figure and
philanthropist who is highly involved in contributing to
the development of China on the one hand, and spends
his time on leading a renowned charitable organization
to encounter different kinds of challenges in Hong Kong
on the other.
