arena floor and an additional 37,000 square feet of
concourse space with flexible layouts.

as 100 people that can be divided into smaller
rooms.

chairback seats in the arena "bowl," and another
1,400 floor seats.

For 6 weeks, late February to early April, something magical happens in the heart of
Nebraska. More than 80 percent of the world’s population of Sandhill Cranes
converges on Nebraska’s Platte River. The Sandhill Cranes travel from
southern wintering grounds to northern breeding grounds in Canada,
Alaska and Siberia. They stop along the Platte to rest and gain body fat
for a month as they prepare for their journey. Fossils of
wing bones dating back nine million years have
been discovered in Nebraska. Whooping Cranes,
eagles, ducks & geese, and shorebirds are
among the other wildlife that migrates
through Central Nebraska during February
and March. It’s an amazing sight and one
that can only be truly appreciated in person.

viewing experience is to contact the Audubon’s Rowe
Sanctuary or visit the Fort Kearny Recreational Area
Hike/Bike Bridge at either sunrise or sunset. The bridge is 300 yards from the
parking area and offers a great view of the river.
The Nebraska Firefighters Museum and
Education Center is designed to provide a
place to safeguard and preserve Nebraska’s
proud firefighting heritage and to educate
individuals about fire prevention. The

Robert M. Merryman Performing ArtsCenter
The Robert M. Merryman Performing Arts Center is a 760 seat community arts center located in an active
elementary school. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Our mission is to be the finest
performing arts center in western Nebraska! Our purpose is to offer quality dance, music and theatre
performances, educational events and workshops that will culturally reward and entertain audiences and
participants. Our goal is to become an “engine of creativity” for area youth and a place of enjoyment and
“affirmation” for the community. To fulfill our mission and purpose and to reach our goal, we make
available a series of programming to our audiences featuring renowned national and regional artists.

KidZone: Kearney Area Children’s Museum
KidZone/Kearney Area Children’s Museum, is dedicated to developing within children and adults a feeling of excitement about

Kearney Raceway Park is an NHRA Division V sanctioned racetrack and is home to drag racing yearly
from April to October including the National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) National Open. During the

The New Expo Building will offer diversity to larger
events. The main arena will be a 300’ x 175’ (52,500 square feet)
concrete arena with bleachers that can be pushed in our pulled out
at your preference. The dirt arena will be a 180’ x 110’ (28,600
square feet) arena with a dirt floor. Portable bleachers can be
placed on the cement concourse if needed. This building will also
contain office space and a meeting room to serve as your event
headquarters. Our sound system in this building is being custom built
to fulfill the needs of the many events that use our facilities. We feel
that this building will give a lot of new options for your event!
The Outdoor Skills and Youth Development Facility offers a
variety of shooting sports entertainment that includes trap,
skeet, sporting clays and 5-stand. Open shooting is available during the

Fort Kearny State Recreation Area
Fort Kearny State Recreation Area offers 186 acres dotted with sandpit lakes. In the
spring, the world’s largest concentration of sandhill cranes and waterfowl gathers in
the central Platte River Valley. Facilities include electrical and primitive camp pads,
showers, dump station, modern restrooms, water, picnic tables, grills, shelters,
wheelchair accessible fishing pier, nature trail, non-power boating and hike-bike trail.
Modern camping is permitted year round. A Nebraska State Park permit is required for

Frank House
The Frank House is a Richardsonian Romanesque mansion constructed of red sandstone in the 1880's. It
features hand-carved oak and one of the largest Tiffany windows installed in a residence. It is listed on the
National Register of Historic Places and is located on the University of Nebraska-Kearney campus, 2010

Great Platte River Road Archway
The Great Platte River Road Archway is a tribute to American heroes and their amazing journeys as they
travel across the United States. Enjoy spectacular interactive exhibits of pioneers, wagon, trains, stampeding
buffalo and much more that followed the Great Platte River Road. A tour through the Archway gives guests
an appreciation for the importance of the Kearney area in the history of the overland trails, being the
location where the Oregon, Mormon and California Trails converged and moved West. Completed in June of
2000, the non-profit museum prominently spans I-80 in Kearney. The Archway was envisioned and founded
by the late Nebraska Governor Frank Morrison. Visit our TrailBlaze Maze and run through a labyrinth of twists
and turns as you race against the clock for fun and prizes! Group races and rates can be arranged. The
Archway welcomes visits from conventions, with the ability to handle hundreds of guests at a time
during their one-hour self-guided tour. The unique Archway facility can host conferences as well as

Classic Car Collection
This is the best public car attraction between Chicago and Denver
that includes more than 130 vintage automobiles from the early 1900’s
to the 1980’s. The attraction includes video and multi-media displays throughout.
The entire Collection will be photographed inside and out and be displayed on a multimedia show on ipads. Visitors will be able to read the story of each automobile as they
tour the attraction. The Collection is housed in a 50,000 sq. ft. space in the Kearney
Cabela’s building. The Classic Car Collection was created to house automobiles donated
by Bernie and Janice Taulborg and is located at 3600 East Highway 30. For more

Cottonmill Park & Recreation Area
Cottonmill Park and Lake offers various opportunities for fun and recreational activities just west of Kearney. Visitors can hike in a native
prairie or tour a Nature Barn. A central feature to the park is the 43 acre lake. The lake underwent a complete restoration in 1998 to
create a top quality fishing lake. Swimming is allowed from sunrise to sunset with no lifeguard on duty. If boating and fishing is more
to your liking, the lake is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, channel fish and northern pike. The more athletic visitors can
play disc (Frisbee) golf on the east side of the park. The 2,263 foot, par 33 course meanders through cedar forest areas and along the
lake shore. Visitors can picnic at any of the scattered picnic sites throughout the park. Small shelters, grills and water are available at
some sites. The two large groups shelters, which can accommodate up to 48 people, a lodge, which will hold around 80 people and the
