I want to publicly acknowledge all of the volunteers that we have in our
music ministry. We have six Masses each weekend and it takes many
people to minister effectively.
These people pour their lives into this ministry and they spend much time
at rehearsal and preparation (which is all unseen). Let us be grateful for their selfless
dedication. And there’s always a need for more people to become involved. Some of
them take a summer break, others remain active here 52 weeks a year! We could not
function without these people!

at Holy Family, Inverness. Are you widowed? Have you
reached a crossroads? Are you at a turning point? Do you
want to move forward with your life, while still treasuring your
memories? The Joyful Again program brings understanding
and hope to help you in your life’s new journey. For
information or to register call 708-354-7211. Early registration
is encouraged.
Parishioners who have children to be baptized are asked
to attend a Baptismal Preparation Session. Because
Baptism is a commitment by the parents to raise the child in
the Catholic faith, it is necessary that the parents presenting
their children for Baptism are also living up to their own
Baptismal commitment.
No date for the Baptism is made until the parents have
attended one of the Baptismal Sessions. Reservations for
the sessions are limited and they fill up quickly. Parents are
encouraged to attend before the baby is born.
PLEASE CALL THE PARISH OFFICE AT 223-4731
TO SCHEDULE A BAPTISMAL PREPARATION SESSION.
The monthly baptism schedule is as follows:

Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO
Summer, 2016
Jubilee of Mercy
Dear Friends in Christ,
On the weekend of June 11-12, 2016, we will take up a
special collection for the Retired Priests of the Archdiocese.
Throughout the year, I have had several opportunities to
meet many of our 206 retired priests who continue to share
their priestly ministry in our parishes. It has come to my
attention that many parishes depend upon their service for
daily and Sunday Masses and for countless funerals.
Without the help of our retired priests many parishes would
have to reduce Mass schedules and other sacramental
services.
In April, it was my honor to celebrate the funeral Mass for
Monsignor Richard O’Donnell, our oldest priest. Monsignor
O’Donnell was 105 years old when he died. He was
ordained a priest in 1935, which means he served as a priest
of Chicago for almost 81 years. He spent his retirement
years at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish where he had
been pastor. Parishioners visited him every day and
somewhere in that time his ministry was returned to him
through their care and love.
Our retired priests rely upon your help now. The Priests’
Retirement and Mutual Aid Association (PRMAA) cares for
our retired priests. As you know the costs for health care,
prescription drugs and nursing home care continues to
increase. This special collection in June is different from the
December collection for retired men and women religious
where the collection goes to those in religious orders;
Archdiocesan priests do not receive any funds from that
collection.
Many thanks to all of you for your most gracious generosity
in this collection last year and I ask that you repeat that
kindness this year. Your donations, your prayers, and your
good wishes are an affirmation of our retired priests. With
this letter, I wish to take this opportunity to share my
heartfelt appreciation for the ministry and devotion of our
retired priests and I ask you to remember all the faithful
priests who have gone to their eternal reward.
Wishing you every blessing, with kind regards I remain,
Episodes will be available for a limited time
on FORMED.org as a special event beginning
on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 3rd! Each
video will be placed sequentially on FORMED
- one episode each week until end of June.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Blase J. Cupich
Archbishop of Chicago
