All Because We Care
At Rohrer Bus, we have enjoyed nearly 100 years as a respected, successful, and growing transportation company. Although there
are many factors that have contributed to this success over time, I truly believe that the main reason we are where we are today is
because we care. More specifically, we care about providing a safe environment in which our community’s residents can learn,
work, and play. In order to provide this for others, though, we must first ensure the health and safety of ourselves and our own
immediate environment.
That is why we consider the well-being of our company’s most important resources, our people, of utmost importance. To protect
our people, and ultimately our success, we must identify and eliminate the single greatest threat to our health and safety:
accidents. Accidents are usually caused by factors that can be identified, controlled, eliminated and, therefore, avoided. It is
because of this very belief that special consideration for your health and safety are an integral part of all Rohrer operations.
Healthy working conditions and safe work performance benefit everyone. A safety-conscious workforce reduces work-related
injuries or illness and damage to property and equipment. Safety reduces costs related to workers compensation premiums, lost
production time and administration. Diligent safety practices allow us to be more competitive and rewards our customers with a
high level of service. In short, it makes us a better company.
At Rohrer, we promote a type of environment that reduces the likelihood of accidents through the enforcement of our
Comprehensive Safety Program. This program includes safety training, recognition of safe working practices,
full time use of personal protection equipment, and the clear expectation that our employees must work
safely. We strive to keep safety at the forefront of everything we do and don’t take short cuts with the well Stay Safe,
being of our employees.
Safety is everyone’s right and responsibility. But, it only happens because all of us at Rohrer take an active
and enthusiastic role in making it a priority. So in our own quests to provide the absolute best environment

all, if we don’t look out for our own health and safety, how can we expect that anyone else will?

The Rohrer Bus Safety Team would like to express a special
“THANKS” to all drivers for complying with the regulations
surrounding trip logs. Through diligent monitoring, we have
improved our performance greatly. It is important, however, that we
be 100% compliant in the future. To achieve this, all drivers traveling
over 100 miles one way, over state lines, or work twelve (12) hours or
more in a twenty-four (24) hour period, a log must be completed
with a driver time record for seven (7) days before the trip. All Full
Time, Operations, and Sales drivers will need to complete logs on a
regular basis. If you have any questions on logs or completing your
record, please contact Wanda Thebes at 717-957-3811 x249 or cell
phone at 717-418-4405.

VEHICLE DAMAGE
Supervisors & drivers are to be commended for their efforts in their
reporting of vehicle damage that is discovered when doing their pre &
post-trip vehicle inspections. Cooperation in doing the vehicle body
inspection sheets at the close of last year and the beginning of this
school year was greatly improved. As we approach the end of this
school year, the Safety Team would like to remind all supervisors and
drivers to be prepared to do their fleet and personal vehicle
inspections sheets and return them to the attention of John Lowery.
John will see that all supervisors are sent a packet with the proper
forms to be used before the end of this school year.
Our “Trainer of the Year”
We are proud to recognize our very own Phil Heller for his recent
achievement as the Northeast Region’s “Trainer of the Year” by
Thomas Built Buses. Phil works very hard to ensure that all of our
service personnel and customers have the best training available
to them in the industry. As a regional winner, Phil will be attending
the upcoming Thomas Dealer Sales Meeting in Orlando, FL, where
one of the five (5) candidates will receive the national “Trainer of
the Year” honor. Please join us in congratulating Phil on this welldeserved accomplishment!
2012-13 Healthy Holiday Challenge
Our wellness coach conducted a program to allow for all participating
employees to maintain or lose weight over the holiday program.
Congratulations go to Kay Reichenbach, Jane Gerhold, Bob Miller,
Georgia Decker, and Pat Attick for their accomplishments. All 17 of
the program’s participants successfully completed the program. By
enjoying the holiday season while maintaining their weight, the
employees were able to stay active and healthy.
