About the CS Series of Products
The CS Series of products provides sites with the ability to use a full range of
RIS/PACS features on customer-supplied client stations. The CS Series expands
the set of application features previously supported on customer-supplied
hardware.
Advantages of customer-supplied hardware
Sites request customer-supplied client stations for several reasons:
ƒ Cost reduction by installing DR Systems RIS client software on existing
stations.
ƒ When replacing a PACS from another vendor, ability to run DR Systems
PACS client software on the existing hardware of the replaced PACS
system.
ƒ Preferred hardware platforms and vendors mandated by the facility’s IT
department. The IT department also wants to administer the stations.
ƒ Ability to run additional programs on a workstation. The standard
RIS/PACS workstations supplied by DR Systems have access restrictions
to ensure data security, because of they connect directly to the PACS
Central Server. In CS Series products, you can access other programs
including File Explorer and the Command Prompt.
Customer responsibilities
The system administrator at your site is responsible for:
ƒ Software installation.
ƒ First-line software support for your users.
ƒ Hardware support.

Third-party program interface. You must ensure that third-party
applications that interface with the DR Systems are the versions
validated with the system.
For details on supported third-party products, see the appropriate Technical Specification
for CS Series products.” For details on accessing the Technical Specifications, see
“Accessing documentation” on page 1-8.
Software licenses
Software licenses are controlled by a unique identifier on the network interface
card. This identifier must be provided to DR Systems for proper software
licensing control.
Note:
Each CS Series product requires purchase of a software license from DR Systems.
Installation, configuration and setup requirements
DR Systems Customer Support assists the system administrator or a designated
representative with details on software configuration, setup, and troubleshooting.
