In our last newsletter, we announced the addition of a new lead teacher in our
preschool room. She did a wonderful job organizing the classroom and preparing engaging and creative activities for the children in her care. We all quickly
grew to admire her for her kindness, patience, and numerous teaching abilities.
We did not have the opportunity to get too comfortable with her, however; unforeseen family responsibilities required that she leave the position. She continues to serve Mom’s House with giving of her time and talents in a volunteer
capacity which we very much appreciate.
Where God closes a door, he opens another! We could never have imagined
that we would be so blessed with another unique and gifted teacher for the preschool class, especially in an industry where it is so difficult to find qualified staffing. Mom’s House welcomes Debbie Barrett as the new preschool teacher in our “Penguin” room. Debbie is New York State
certified to teach preschool through 6th grade, with a Master’s degree in education from Nazareth College.
She has four years’ experience teaching preschool and kindergarten in Rochester, NY. Debbie also spent
many years as a stay-at-home mom while actively volunteering in the schools and community, including
the last two years at Mom’s House. She also volunteers through her church, Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in
Vestal. Debbie is married and has four beautiful daughters.
