I recently had a visitor from
the state of Texas.
For three days all I heard from
him was “In Texas we have the
best this, the largest that, the fastest that,” etc.
It eventually became very
annoying. Being from Niagara
Falls, I thought I could outdo him
by showing him the “Mighty Niagara,” knowing there was nothing
in Texas that could compare to
this “Wonder of Water and Power.”
While standing at the brink
watching millions of gallons of
water rushing over, I noticed the
look of awe in his eyes. It was then
I asked him: “Do you have anything like this in Texas?”
He waited a moment before
he answered: “No, but we have a
plumber that could fix it.”
A man came home from an
exhausting day at work, plopped
down on the couch in front of the
television, and told his wife: “Get
me a beer before it starts!”
The wife sighed and got him a
beer.
Ten minutes later, he said: “Get
me another beer before it starts!”
She looked cross, but fetched
another beer and slammed it
down next to him. He finished
that beer and a few minutes later
said: “Quick, get me another beer,
it’s going to start any minute!”
The wife was furious. “Is that
all you’re going to do tonight!
Drink beer and sit in front of that
TV! You’re nothing but a lazy,
drunken, fat slob and furthermore...”
The man sighed and said: “It’s
started.”

POPE COUNTY’S 5 YEAR CONTRACTED
REAPPRAISAL
Tax payers of Pope County, unbelievably,
5 years has passed and Pope County just finished its 5 year countywide reappraisal, and
the time has come to start a new reappraisal
cycle. In September and October an advertisement to bid on the county was placed
in the newspaper, and four response forms
were submitted back to the Pope County
Assessor’s Office.
