boats leave Manaus to see the Meeting of the Waters, where the black waters of
the Negro River meet the light waters of the Solimoes River, flowing side by side

"igarapes", swim and canoe in placid lakes or simply walk in the lush forest.

Am Visit to monkey Jungle. Transfer to Manaus airport for flight to Salvador.
Salvador - Capital of the State of Bahia, and was also Brazil's capital until 1763, is
divided in two parts. The "Lower City" is at sea level and contains the old port
and the commercial area where visitors will find a complete and varied
assortment of Brazilian arts and crafts at the Modelo Market. It is also the best
place to witness a demonstration of "capoeira", a martial art developed by
African slaves in Brazil, originally as a form of combat and later as a type of dance
and folklore tradition. The "Upper City" can be reached by stone steps,
alleyways or the famous Lacerda Elevator. This part of the city contains the old
government buildings, the residential districts, museums, churches and much

Day 08 : Salvador
Am H/d Historical City tour - We start in the modern suburb of Barra and make
our way slowly by to the old historical section of town, the Pelourinho area with
the largest and the best preserved complex colonial architecture in the
Americas. We visit the church of S. Francisco with its exuberant gold-leafed
Baroque interior and the Pelourinho Square, the heart of the old town. This tour
shows two distinct aspects of Salvador, the new and the old, concentrating on
the early expansion of the city.
Evening - Bahia by Night w/dinner and show Miguel de Santana Theatre - The
Bahia Folklore Company (Balé Folclórico da Bahia) is one of the most respected
folklore dance troupes in the world. The company performs in the intimate
Miguel Santana Theatre in the Pelourinho in a seamless presentation of the
multiple African traditions that underpin Bahian culture. We will see the sacred

dances of the Candomblé; puxada de rede, a song by fishermen in honor of
Yemanjá, the goddess of the sea; maculelê, an acrobatic stick and sword dance

Day 09 : Salvador
Full day Schooner Cruise with lunch - Transfer to the pier and board a schooner
to cruise to some of the 36 islands in the bay. Stop with time to relax in the sun or
swim in the warm waters.Re-board for the short crossing to the larger Itaparica
Island for lunch. More Relaxing time on the beach or an optional visit to the
colonial town of Itaparica before returning to Salvador. Overnight at at selected

Day 10 : Salvador – Ouro Preto
Am transfer out to Salvador airport, for flight to Belo Horizonte.
Arrive Belo Horizonte - pick up at airport and immediate transfer to the city of
Ouro Preto. Ouro Preto was founded in the early 18th century. It was built on
rocky ground and declared a national monument in 1933. It is the masterpiece
of colonial architecture in Brazil with fountains, churches, ruins and towers
shining with colored tiles. Due to its distance from the coast, it is the only town
in Brazil to remain as an outstanding artistic and architectural example of that
era. Ouro Preto's baroque architecture can be viewed upon as typically

Am transfer back to Belo Horizonte Airport for flight to Iguassu Falls.
Iguaçu's falls are one of the planet’s natural wonders. Thousands of Brazilian
and foreign tourists visit one of the main tourist attractions on the country. Foz
do Iguassu is the municipality where the main tourist attractions go hand-inhand with the most exuberant scenery provided by nature and mankind in the
“Land of the Falls” it is possible to take in the splendor of the Native and manmade forests, rivers and lakes, and still in this ecological paradise, have the
opportunity to shop for the most varied products, not only in Foz do Iguassu but
in Ciudad del Leste (Paraguay) and Puerto Iguaçu (Argentina). Formed on Iguaçu
river, the falls go down an average height of 60 meters by an extension of 2700
meters.
The number of falls varies from 275 to 150, depending on the river's outflow.

Safari boat tour - Towed by jeep, visitors are driven through the forest watching
birds wild animals and exotic vegetation. At the end of 2 miles ride, a boat takes

Morning: Arrive in Salvador da Bahia, meet and transfer to your selected hotel.
Afternoon: African-oriented historical city tour We will trace the African roots of
Salvador on a city tour that includes both the newer, modern section and the
older Historical Center of Salvador, the Pelourinho, named after the pillory that
stood in the main square in front of the central slave market. We will visit the
Afro-Brazilian Museum which traces the West African origins of the city and see
the superb wooden, sculpted panels of the orixás by Salvador's most celebrated
artist, Carybé. We will visit the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, the famous
Black church, built with meager resources over a period of nearly 100 years. The
Casa do Benin (Benin House) nearby further investigates this permeating
African influence. We look in on artists and sculptors at work and let the senses
do the rest as we soak up the feel of this vibrant city. Evening: At leisure

Day 02 :
Daytime: Excursion to Historical Farmlands We will leave the city behind and
drive through the oldest farmland in Brazil. This is the land of sugar cane and
tobacco plantations, peaceful colonial towns and busy country markets. We will
visit an experimental cacao plantation and stop nearby at a small but selfsufficient farmstead with its own manioc flour mill, offering valuable insight into
rural life in Brazil. We also visit the Sisterhood of the Boa Morte, a sorority which
traces its origins back to the time of slavery. A journey back in time to the Brazil
of yesteryear! Evening: Bahia by Night On “Bahia by night”, we will enjoy an
excursion that takes us to Solar do Unhao, one of Salvador´s oldest and most
somber buildings, originally used as a loading station for the importation of
slaves. We will begin with a full buffet of the best in the exotic Bahian cuisine.
Soon after, a dazzling folklore show of Bahian music, dance and pageantry will
follow, illustrating all that is unique in the Afro-Brazilian culture

Daytime: The Axé Project The issue of Brazil's street children is one of the
country's most pressing problems. These children spend their days on the
streets and their nights in the alleyways of Salvador. The Axé Project was
established to help these children find their way in society by offering them real
opportunities for education and training, as well as involving them in creative
and cultural activities. We will visit one of their training centers where we will
see the positive work of the Axé Project and learn of the aims, hopes, challenges
and success stories of the project. Afterwards we will visit a traditional capoeira
school to see these kids at leisure, learning this martial art of Angolan
origin.Evening: At leisure

Day 05 :
Daytime: Mysteries of the Candomblé This tour offers insight into the
complexities of the worshipping of Africa's ancestral spirits. We will be given a
brief lecture on the history Candomblé and then visit a Candomblé terreiro
(place of worship) to experience daily life within these communities. Depending
upon group size, we will also visit a mãe de santo for a reading of the jogo de
buzios, the divination process where corie shells are thrown and interpreted.
Evening: Olodum Performance In this excursion to a uniquely Bahian event, we
will enjoy a rehearsal show of Olodum, one of the many Afro-blocos, (musical
groups) enjoying great success in the current renaissance of Afrobased rhythms
in Salvador. This frenetic, pulsating music is directly derived from the music of
West Africa. This visit is particularly interesting, as Olodum is famous for their
collaborations with Paul Simon on the “Rhythm of the Saints” album.

Daytime: At leisure Evening: Urban Development Tour Like most Brazilian cities,
Salvador is growing but not always in a controlled fashion. This tour will take us
to side of the city not always visited by the majority of Salvador's tourists. We
will see the different realities of urban life for both the fortunate and those who
are less so. Our tour ends in the Calabar Community, a favela within steps of
some of the most exclusive residential areas of Salvador. We will be met by
Calabar's community leaders and learn about the work being done within the
community. We will visit the school, children's day-care center, medical center
and small business project, all financed by the community itself. This is a
heartwarming example of a community bravely finding solutions for its
problems. Evening: At leisure.

and Catholic faiths will be explained and used to illustrate how African culture

Daytime: City Tour This exciting tour will take you to Sugar Loaf, Rio de Janeiro's
famous mountain set at the mouth of Guanabara Bay, and reached by a series of
thrilling cable car rides. After enjoying the view, you will begin an excursion into
the Afro-influenced world of samba and Carnival, with your first stop at the
Sambadrome, the locale for the city's famous carnival parades. Here, the

Carnival Museum. Next, you will proceed to a nearby barracão, or workshop,
where you will meet the local artisans designing and creating the fantastic floats
and costumes that will appear in the renowned parade (visit to barracão
available from October to February only). Evening: Traditional Afro-Brazilian
Dinner and Dance In this excursion, you will enjoy dinner in a restaurant
specializing in feijoada, the native Brazilian dish developed by slaves. Next, you
will proceed to downtown Rio and stop by a famous gafieira, or traditional
dancehall originally established by emancipated slaves.
Day 03 :
Daytime: Corcovado Excursion After touring Rio´s beautiful beaches, you will
pass through the charming neighborhood of Cosme Velho, home to the base of
Corcovado Mountain. From here, take a small gauge railroad through the lush
Tijuca Rainforest to the mountain's top, where the fabled Christ the Redeemer
statue stands. Enjoy an unsurpassed view of the Cidade Maravilhosa from this

worldrenowned landmark. Evening: At leisure Optional excursion, “Rio by
Night”, will be offered to those interested in a trip to one of the city's favorite
nightspots for a review of Brazilian Carnival, dance and folklore. We also suggest
dinner at a churrascaria, a typical all-you-can eat Brazilian barbecue dinner at a
fine restaurant.
Day 04 :
Transfer to Rio airport for flight back to Salvador. Arrive Salvador da Bahia, meet
and transfer to your selected hotel. Evening at Leisure.
Day 05 :
African-oriented historical city tour We trace the African roots of Salvador on a
city tour which combines the newer, modern section and the older Historical
Center of Salvador, the Pelourinho area, so called after the pillory which stood in
the main square, in front of the central slave market. We visit the Afro-Brazilian

Museum which traces the West African origins of the city and see the superb
wooden, sculpted panels of the orixá's by Salvador's most celebrated artist,
Carybé. We visit the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, the famous Black church,
built with meager resources over a period of almost 100 years. The Casa do
Benin (Benin House) nearby further investigates this permeating African
influence. We look in on artists and sculptors at work and let the senses do the
rest as we soak up the feel of this vibrant city. The buildings may be European
but the rest is African. Evening excursion to a uniquely Bahian event: a rehearsal
(show) or “ Olodum”, one of the many Afro-blocos, or musical groups, enjoying
great success in the current renaissance of Afro-based rhythms in Salvador. This
frenetic, pulsating music is directly derived from the music of West Africa. This
visit is particularly interesting, as Olodum is famous for their collaborations with
Paul Simon on the “ Rhythm of the Saints” album.

Day 06 :
We leave the city behind and drive through the oldest farmland in Brazil. This is
the land of sugar cane and tobacco plantations, peaceful colonial towns and
busy country markets. We visit an experimental cacao plantation. Nearby we
stop at a small but self-sufficient farmstead with it's own manioc flour mill and
have a great insight into rural life in Brazil. We also visit the Sisterhood of the Boa
Morte, a sorority which traces it's origins back to the time of slavery. A journey
back in time to the Brazil of yesteryear!
Day 07 :
Am visit THE TREET CHILDREN OF BRAZIL. The question of the street children in
Brazil is one of the country's most pressing problems. These are the children
who spend their days on the streets and their nights in the alleyways and
doorways of Salvador. The AXÉ PROJECT was set up to help these children find
their way in society by offering them real opportunities for education and

training as well as involving them in creative and cultural activities. We will visit
one of their training centres where we will see the positive work of the Axé
Project and given an explanation of the aims, hopes, challenges and success
stories of the project. Afterwards we will visit a traditional capoeira school to
see these kids at leisure, learning this martial art of Angolan origin. Tonight
features “Bahia by night”, an excursion that takes us to Solar do Unhao, one of
Salvador´s oldest and most eerily atmospheric buildings, originally used as a
loading station for the importation of slaves. We begin here with a full buffet of
the best in the exotic cuisine of Bahia. Soon after, a dazzling folklore show of
Bahian music, dance and pageantry follows, illustrating all that is unique in the
Afro-Brazilian culture.
Day 08 :
Check out and transfer to Salvador International airport for flight back home.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS - CONSOLID TOURS
Reservations and Deposits: At the time of reservations for
packages, a deposit of 50%per person is required; balance is
due 30 days before departure. For airfares, payments are due
at time of booking.
Cancellations: If cancellations is within 30 days prior to
departure there will be a penalty of 15% of the total cost per
person. Cancellations between 15 and 30 days prior to
departure will charge deposit plus 25% of the total cost might
be additional penalty cancellations charges levied by our
overseas contractors. There may be special payment and
cancellations policies incurred during holiday’s periods,
certain cruises, and special packages.
No refunds given for unused portions of tour components,
hotel stays or any services requested.
Change fees: No changes fees charges for changes made
before complete payment. Consolid Latin America charges
USD 30.00 service fee per passenger for all changes made
within 15 days of departure for re-issue of documents, plus
any additional fees made by our overseas contractors.
Refunds : No refunds for modifications or cancellation made in
route by participants, unless Consolid Latin America and/or
supplier abroad determines reason to be beyond the control
of traveler. All claims for refunds must be in writing and
received within 30 days from end of services provided by
Consolid Latin America with details and substantiation. After
30 days, our department will NOT handle any request.
Refunds given will be in accordance with the cost of the
unused services.
Documents: Consolid Latin America send all documents and
vouchers within 30 days of departure date via e-mail. If
documents need to be mailed out, paper vouchers or any
other information provided by our contractors, it would be
mailed out at no charge via US Postal service (regular service).
If agency wants documents mailed via Federal express,
charges may apply.
Rates: All rates are in US Dollars and subject and are subject to
change without notice. Consolid Latin America reserves the
right to adjust the rates accordingly.
Travel Insurance: Consolid Latin America strongly
recommends the purchase off travel insurance. Our insurance
policies provide trip cancellations/trip interruptions/travel
delay/baggage loss/baggage delay/emergency medical
expenses/rental car damage.
Responsibility clause: Consolid Latin America at 5975 Sunset
drive, Suite 107, South Miami, FL 33143, and its agents act
only as agents for the passengers. It arranges with Airlines,
hotels and others independents firms to provide these
services; we do not control them and therefore can not be
responsible for their acts or omissions. The operator assumes
no liability of injury, loss, accident, damage, delay, weather or
any other irregularity, which may occur during your
participation in the tour.
