John D’Angelico, one of the finest guitar builders of all time, we are reviving our brand for the modern
age. Our models are genuine incarnations of John D’Angelico’s legendary aesthetic and attention to
detail. As we move forward, we promise to bring you instruments that respect and honor D’Angelico’s
pedigree as the standard for excellence in the guitar world. In response to the tremendous success of
the D’Angelico Standard series, we are expanding the product line to include various electric, acoustic,
and bass models. Additionally, we are releasing a limited-run USA Masterbuilt series, offering users
the chance to own exact replications of some of D’Angelico’s most historic instruments, such as the
Excel and New Yorker. Following an MRI scan of the original instrument, these guitars are built to
match their precise physical and stylistic specifications. We are both proud and excited to carry on

Our highly anticipated D’Angelico USA Masterbuilt reissues will be phased in beginning
2013. These limited run models are being built by acclaimed boutique luthier Gene Baker,
Chief Master Builder at Premier Builders Guild (PBG), and his expert build team at the
PBG Workshop in Arroyo Grande, California.
The first reissue in the USA Masterbuilt Series is the iconic 1942 D’Angelico Excel, to be
introduced at NAMM 2013. Based on extensive research beginning with MRI’s of the
original, the Excel Reissue will be an authentic update enhanced by modern hardware
and appointments.
Sunburst and Natural options featuring: 3A flame maple back/sides, spruce top,
ebony fretboard, Mother of Pearl inlay/headstock design, tortoise multi-bound pickguard,
vintage friendly varnish finish, Grover Imperial tuners, D’Angelico trapeze tailpiece,
gold hardware and 6105 fret wire. Electric option features Johnny Smith Lollar pickup
with one volume and tone pot mounted in pickguard.
