A culmination of over 30 years of pushing the envelope
in amplifier design, the Power series of amplifiers takes
everything that we’ve learned about power output and heat
management and puts it into a single package.
With technologies such as our Class AD and BD constant
power circuits, Rockford engineers squeeze every drop
of power out of these amps they can get. So, not only will
your system be the envy of all your friends because it’s the

loudest, but it’s going to sound amazing to boot.
Heat management is always a concern. Too much heat will
not only shut down your amp but may eventually kill it. We
combat this by using specially designed cast aluminum heat
sinks as well as our latest Dynamic Thermal Management
circuitry to maximize performance while managing the heat
production. Simply put, a cooler amp is a happy amp and will
run for a very long time.
After seeing a demand
in the marketplace for small
chassis amplifiers, our engineers
took amplifier design to the next level.
They designed amplifiers that could fit in
small spaces but also deliver on power and
performance. The goal set was to take the elements
of our larger chassis Power series amplifiers, along with
our latest technology, and put them in a smaller footprint
design without sacrificing power or performance.
Thus, our Power small chassis amplifiers were born. These amplifiers are
built on our proven Class AD and BR circuit designs allowing the amplifiers
to be over 40% smaller while producing more power than the comparable full
size Power version. Heat is managed with our 3-stage cooling system using forced
induction air flow allowing you to really push these amps without concern of overheating.

Building on the legacy that began over 35 years ago, we
completely redesigned our Punch series. This was not just
a refresh of their look but also the perfect time to add-in the
latest innovations in amplifier design. With a sleek new style
thanks to our brushed, cast aluminum chassis with stealth
top mount controls, these new Punch amplifiers truly grab
the attention of anyone who sees them.
Rockford’s original small chassis amplifier, the PBR series
was developed with a few goals and a select group of
customers vehicles in mind. We wanted a small footprint
amplifier that produced a lot of power but didn’t put a
strain on a vehicles electrical system. We had our eyes
on the motorcycle and UTV markets knowing that audio
solutions for many of these customers were few and
what was available wasn’t the highest in quality.

But of course, these amps are more than just pretty, they’re
feature rich and powerful. One such innovation is our CLEAN
setup circuit which not only tells you if and when your music
is distorting, but simplifies the setup of the amp. This gets
you listening to your music that much faster. Power has also
been addressed in the new circuit design with all models
easily exceeding their rated power which means not only is
your music clear, but it can get plenty loud.

We developed the PBR amps to be ultra-efficient by
using the vehicle’s own electrical system for a power
supply and developed our patented “boosted rail”
circuit that stores energy and then releases it when the
demands of the music require it. This means that when
you hit the road or the trails, you can enjoy your music
knowing it is powered by an amplifier built to Rockford’s
high standards.

impedance of the speaker. Rockford Fosgate’s Constant Power circuit design actively monitors
and increases voltage and current as the speaker’s impedance rises with music. Resulting in up

In the early 70’s, Jim Fosgate studied the acoustical properties of automobiles by using a real
time analyzer. Jim discovered multiple problems common in all vehicles; a midbass hump, a
steep high frequency roll off and reduced bass response. This research lead to adding Punch EQ
to Rockford Fosgate amps to help correct the acoustical deficiencies found in the automotive
listening environment. The new Punch EQ2 is an on-board equalization circuit that when set to
Low-Pass (LP) operation, becomes a variable Bass Boost. When set to High-Pass (HP) operation,
it acts as a variable Mid-Bass and Treble Boost. When set to All Pass (AP) operation, both Bass
and Treble frequencies are boosted.

MEHSA3 heat management technology takes heat sink efficiency to a new level. The key was
to create a dielectric layer between the ceramic topside and the aluminum base that retains
all of the electrical isolation and capacitive coupling of the early material increasing its thermal
conductivity. The higher power handling results in a 20% reduction in thermal impedance.

setting technology called CLEAN (Calibrated Level Eliminates Audible Noise). Using simple LED

our high efficiency BD amplifier design to a full range
application. Using our Dynamic Frequency Switching to
increase the switching frequency during lower output levels for
better signal resolution. Coupled with Post Choke Feedback
Filtering to compare the input signal to the output signal at the
speaker connector removing any unwanted distortion. These
technologies eliminate the inherent switching noise associated
with typical class D designs.
The trans•ana topology operates
the output stage with its full voltage gain, which allows
the input stage to operate from a low voltage regulated
supply. The signal is then shifted up in level to the high
voltage section by the driver stage which forms an
active node at ultrasonic frequencies. This results in a
very stable, highly linear operation.
EFFICIENCY
BD topology is more efficient than typical class AB and has
lower distortion than class D designs. Rockford BD amplifiers
are 75-80% efficient vs. 20-60% efficient class AB amplifiers.

These designs are broken out into ‘classes’. Each class has tradeoffs,
making the various classes suited for various applications…like Class

DISCREET DUAL CLAMP
Rockford’s proprietary tweeter mounting design provides concentric clamping
pressure around the perimeter of the mounting hole, utilizing a single center screw.
This applies balanced pressure to both faces of the mounting surface. From there, the
tweeter simply snaps into place and is finished with a snap on trim ring.

Frequency normalization is achieved by characterizing the frequency response of the
audio source based on a reference input signal. This reference input signal is used to
establish a reference frequency response, which is stored in memory and used to select
equalizer settings. The system restores missing spectral content by summing multiple
input signals from the audio source. The system then normalizes the frequency response
based on characterizations of the signal by utilizing equalizer settings from memory.

test the units for ever changing environmental conditions such as temperature extremes, as well as vibration
testing to make sure they can take a bump and keep

Punch is a name that has been synonymous with car
audio for over 35 years. The mobile audio enthusiast in
most cases is well versed in the quality and history of the
Punch family of products. When we redesigned the mobile
amplifier line in 2013 we knew that this new breed of Punch
products would far surpass anything we had built previously.
By integrating new circuit designs and developing our
C.L.E.A.N. setup technology our engineers have created
an amplifier family with capabilities not seen before.
With the expansion of our Moto/Marine category this year,

Knowing your life isn’t restricted to just the highways and
byways, Rockford Fosgate introduces their new series of
Element Ready small chassis Power amplifiers. Building on
the successful launch of the Mobile audio version of these
amplifiers last year and seeing how many of our customers
were also using them in their motorcycles, UTVs and boat
systems, the Rockford Engineers wanted to create a version
that was geared more toward a life in the elements.

Our new Element Ready series of Power amplifiers have all
the same benefits and features of their Mobile counterparts,
but we’ve also added additional protective components
knowing these are not likely to be safe in the trunk of your
car. With features like a brushed aluminum chassis with

epoxy coating on the circuit boards, these small chassis

Built with a powder coated cast aluminum heat sink with
integrated UV inhibitors and two part epoxy coated circuit
boards, these amplifiers have been fully tested for all kinds

features such as variable crossovers and our famous Punch
EQ circuit further completes the package making the Prime
amplifiers a perfect choice for your system.

Heat Sink - This heavy outer shell
protects the parts inside by transferring
away the heat made reproducing an
audio signal (music).
MOSFETs - A type of transistor used to
amplify audio signal (music). You’ll see
more of these guys lined up as wattage

Conformal Coated Circuit Board Sometimes referred to as the PCB, is

Our new Element Ready Prime series of speakers shows
that you don’t have to blow your yearly budget just to

SOURCE UNITS
DESIGNED AND ENGINEERED WITH A PURPOSE AND YOU IN MIND
Rockford has long recognized a person’s desire to easily
connect with their music. With that in mind we set out to
create a purpose built line of Moto/ Marine source units
equipped with all the latest technology and features. In
looking at the market, we saw that many of the source
units being used in Moto/Marine applications were simply
repurposed mobile audio units and know that they were
not originally designed to be in a boat, UTV or motorcycle
environment. This is why Rockford decided to take the
ground up approach in designing this new source unit line.

From a hardware standpoint we talked to both industry
professionals and the consumers who use these products
to determine what worked and more importantly what
didn’t. From this we designed several units with varying
capabilities to suit the needs of our customers from a simple
streaming receiver to a hide-away control box with remote
display. We also designed the software and menu system
from the ground up making the menus easy to use and
access. The last thing you want is to be shooting down the
