We will do our best to help you out. Belly Dancing Instructor: Stacey Mccanham $50 Tuesdays, 6:00 - 7:00 pm March 24 - May 19 (8 weeks) Want to shake up your exercise routine? How about learning Belly Dancing? This is the class for you. Learn the basic moves for traditional belly dancing while getting some great exercise. Students will learn the correct posture and muscle control to be come proficient at belly dancing. Belly Dancing is for any age, size and shape. Anyone can learn and have fun. No previous experience is necessary. Students should wear comfortable clothes. Oil Painting: Bob Ross Style Smart Phone Usage Instructor: Carrie King Instructor: Tracy Stokes $58 (includes paints needed) Students need to bring a 16 x 20 canvas, baby wipes, paper towel, and box to bring painting home. $48 (supplies not included) Mondays, 4:30 - 8:30 pm; Each class is independent Classes held: March 9, April 13, May 11, & June 9 (Cost is per class and Due In Advance) No experience or “talent” is required, just a desire to paint. This painting class teaches the wet-on-wet method of oil painting. Paintings are completed in one session. Yoga Instructor: Susan Daves $50, Wednesdays, March 25 - May 20, (8 weeks) 6 00 - 7:00 pm Come stretch yourself with us! You will learn the basics of yoga to help get you up and going in this short eight-week beginning yoga class! You’ll feel better, have better posture, and get in shape. Kundalini Yoga Instructor: Susan Daves $50, Wednesdays, March 25 - May 20, (8weeks) 7:00 - 8:00 pm Come enjoy this meditative and physical discipline that uses the mind, senses and body to refresh and energize. Some mantra is involved. This is a Yoga of awareness. Green Cleaning with Essential Oils Instructor: Naysa Heilig Call for details on the classes. Get your name on the list to participate. Learn how to make your own cleaning products from natural ingredients for a safer and most often cheaper way to do your regular household chores. These classes will be hands on with student participation. Students will be able to take some product home to use. If you would like to learn how to clean your house using safer products, these classes are for you. There may be a small additional fee to cover the cost of containers and ingredients used in these recipe. Certified Nurse Aide Refresher Instructor: Sue Noble $45, Mondays, 3:00 - 5:30 pm March 23 & March 30 (2 weeks) Has it been a while since you took your Certified Nurse Aide class and you want to get ready to take your state test? Do you need a refresher on the information and clinical skills you will be tested on to be certified? Have you taken your Certified Nurse Aide State test and failed and want to be successful on your next attempt? This class is for you! Does your family like Mexican food? Learn how to make Chicken Enchiladas with Pico deGallo sauce. This is a chicken entrée with fresh salsa. A great make-ahead meal you can use for busy nights. Line Dancing Lessons Instructor: Carole Daugherty Thursdays, April 16 - May 21 (6 weeks) Basics: 6:30 - 8:00 pm $8.00 per session Beyond Basics: 7:30 - 9:00 pm $8.00 per session Both classes: 6:30 - 9:00 pm $12.00 per session Learn the basics to Country Line Dancing. This class will start you out at the beginning of each dance with easy steps that you can build on each week. Don’t worry if you miss one, you will be able to catch up in no time! Photoshop and More $125, Tuesdays, 6:00 - 8:00 pm (8 weeks) April 14 - June 2 Enhance your digital photos, restore old family pictures or just print with confidence using these professional photo editing tools. Get the most out of digital imaging by learning Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. This is an easy-to-learn, easy-to-use version that is very user-friendly! Preserve Your Pictures $20, Monday, 5:00 - 8:00 pm (1 week) May 4 Students will learn how to upload photos and documents, print them, and save their photos and documents in various formats. Bring memory card with photos to scan and a CD or USB flash drive. Windows Photo Gallery $20 Monday, 5:00 - 7:00 pm (1 week) May 18 Learn how to use Windows Photo Gallery to manage your pictures with organizing and tagging tools. Students will also learn how to edit pictures using the resizing, cropping, and other specialized editing tools available. Pharmacy Technician Program $1,199 (includes books) Instructor: TBA Tuesdays & Thursdays March 24 - May 12 6:00 - 9:30 pm 50 hours + 60 Clinical hours. This comprehensive 50 hour program will prepare students to work as a pharmacy technician in a retail or other pharmacy setting and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Course content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Through classroom lecture and hands on labs, students will review dosage calculations, drug classifications, the “top 200 drugs”, I.V. flow rates, sterile compounding, dose conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parental nutrition (TPN), dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement. Clinical Medical Assistant Program $2,599 (includes books) Instructor: TBA Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday March 3 - June 2 6:00 - 9:30 pm 140 hours + 160 Clinical hours This program is intended for students who want to prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in healthcare. This program will train students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes among other things preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Students will review important topics including phlebotomy, pharmacology, the proper use and administration of medications, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology including proper lead placements, a professional workplace behavior, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare. This program includes 140 hours of classroom lecture and hands on labs and a clinical externship opportunity at a local healthcare provider. To be eligible for the clinical rotation, students must successfully complete the 140 hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements. Note: Upon successful completion of this program, students would be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination. Dental Assistant Program $1,399 (includes books) Instructor: TBA Ask out the Certification test you can take! Mondays and Wednesdays March 16 - May 11 6:00 - 9:30 pm 60 hours + 40 Clinical Hours The 60 hour Dental Assisting Program prepares students for entry level positions in one of the fastest growing health care positions – Dental Assisting. The purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice. This course covers the following key areas and topics – Administrative Aspects include: the history of dentistry and dental assisting; introduction to the dental office; the legal aspects of dentistry; policies and guidelines. Clinical Aspects include: introduction to oral anatomy; dental operatory; dental equipment, introduction to tooth structure; primary and permanent teeth; the oral cavity and related structures; proper patient positioning; dental hand-pieces; sterilization; and other areas. In addition to entry-level administrative jobs, this course is ideal for students interested in pursuing a future formal Dental Hygienist program. Phlebotomy Technician Program $1,799 (includes books) Instructor: TBA Mondays and Wednesdays March 2 - June 3 6:00 - 9:30 pm 90 hours This 90 hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Note: There is no outside externship rotation included with this program. Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) $900 (includes tuition, book & clinical hours) The Certified Nurse Aide program is a 10 week course, which includes 8 weeks of class work and 16 hours of clinical work at a medical care facility. Students learn basic health care procedures including pulse rates, taking temperatures, respiration, blood pressure, and patient care. This program will prepare students to take the State test. Two Classes Wed/Thurs March 18 - May 14 4:30 - 8:30 pm Tuesday March 31 - June 9 3:30 - 9:00 pm American Heart CPR & First Aid Instructor: Pat Beauchamp $60, 5:30 -8:30 pm Classes scheduled based on enrollment This CPR class is an American Heart Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers & Heartsaver First Aid training, including AED training. This class will cover adult, infant, and child CPR/AED, and first aid. Learn to identify when CPR is necessary, how to administer it, the CAB's of emergency care, and practice on the CPR mannequin. Medical Billing Instructor: Deb Sherman $225 + books Tuesdays, March 31 - June 9 5:30 - 9:30 pm; (10 weeks) Understanding Health Insurance and the guide to billing and reimbursement is all covered in this 10 week course. The objectives are to introduce information about major insurance programs, provide basic knowledge of national diagnosis and procedure coding systems, and simplify the process of completing claims. Students should have had or be taking a coding class or had prior coding experience prior to taking this class. ICD-10 Medical Coding Instructor: Deb Sherman $225 + books Mondays, March 30 - June 8 5:30 - 9:30 pm; (10 weeks) ICD-10 is expected to be implemented soon. Learn how to code with the latest methods. Deb has taken the American Health Information Management Train- the-Trainer and became a Certified ICD-10 trainer. This class will teach ICD-10 Diagnosis coding used in both hospital and physician offices. National Certification is available for students completing the Billing and Coding courses. Medical Terminology Instructor: Deb Sherman $225 + books Wednesdays 5:30 - 9:30 pm; (10 weeks) April 1 - June 10 This class is designed to teach students easy ways to apply prefixes, learn how to correctly pronounce medical terms, and remember roots and suffixes. Students will learn how the parts of the terms combine to form medical terms. This is a great beginner class for medical students. Coding and Billing Online Internship Instructor: Deb Sherman $345 (includes text book & program) Classes starting as needed This online internship offers students an opportunity to put into practice the skills they have learned in their coding and billing classes. This is a self-paced program where students can gain experience with coding and billing in an office simulation. This will be a great way to show prospective employers that students have had experience. Call for complete details on the program. Mahjong Want to learn what Mahjong is all about? Reserve your seat at a one night introduction presentation of Mahjong Basics. Mahjong Introduction Instructor: Simone Lawrence Cost: FREE Wednesday, March 11: 4:30 - 6:00 pm OR Thursday, March 19: 5:30 - 7:00 pm Many of you may have heard of Mahjong with the online Mahjong solitaire games. The game of Mahjong is quite different. It is a game of both skill and luck that originated in China many centuries ago and was brought to the West in the 1920's. American mahjong utilizes racks, jokers, "Hands and Rules" score cards and has several distinct gameplay mechanics. Mahjong is always played with four players seated around a table. Tiles are shuffled, die are cast, and rituals involving the allocation of tiles and then the exchange of tiles begin. The first person to match a hand of 14 tiles and thus "call mahjong" ends the game, whereupon tiles are scored and a winner is declared. Mahjong Basics $30; Start Date - TBD (4 weeks) 4:30 - 6:00 pm or 6:00 - 7:30 pm Join the class and have fun learning this exciting game. Bring your friends and have your own team! Certified Welding Instructor Dennis Paschke $1900; 120 hrs Two Class Options Mon - Thurs; 3:30-6:30 pm (10 weeks) March 23 - June 4 ALSO Mon - Thurs; 6:30-9:30 pm (10 weeks) March 23 - June 4 Our certified welding class prepares students to become certified in one area in both vertical and overhead positions. Students prepare to take an in-house certification following standards and guidelines from the American Welding Society. Certification is available in either Mig, Tig or Arc Welding. 90% attendance is required for certification. It is strongly recommended that students have some prior experience in welding or have taken the Welding Basics class prior to taking the certification class. Automotive: Electrical State of MI-Certification Preparation Instructor: Joe Price $500 Mondays, 5:00 - 9:00 pm April 13 - May 11 (5 weeks) Students will learn basic electrical concepts and be exposed to starting and charging system operation as well as diagnosis and repair. This is a fast -paced course with a lot of information covered in a short term. After 5 weeks, students will be prepared to take and pass the State Certification test in Electrical. Computers for Beginners Instructor: Pam Smith Bring CD or USB flash drive to save your data and practice for all classes. Also, bring your laptop to class if you have one but not necessary $12 each Wednesdays May 6 Learning to use Windows 8 6:00 - 8:00 pm Students will learn how to access programs, create and organizing files, move files by dragging and dropping, and how to save your work. May 13 Learning to use Windows part 1 - Understanding your equipment Students will start with the basic components of a computer, mouse, keyboard and its functions and simple shortcuts. Computer terms and terminology relating to software and applications. Learn the difference between files and folders. Create, name and save files and learn to cut and paste text. Lots of tips and tricks and hidden features to make computing tasks seem effortless. May 20 Learning to use Windows part 2 - Create to access Continuation of basic Windows. Students will learn how to access programs, create and organize files, move files by dragging and dropping, learn how and where to save you work and how to find it again. Save and save as files explained. Tips and shortcuts that can be applied to every day computing. May 27 Learning to use Windows part 3 - Maintain with confidence Quick review of basics to get all up to speed. Students will learn the basics of maintaining their computer. Where to go for information about your computer. The importance and necessity of regular updates and anti-virus programs. We will explore system backup and cleanup tools and discover how removing old programs, cleaning off your desk top and deleting old e-mails can speed up your computer. Tips and tricks to make your computer run cooler and smoother. QuickBooks Pro 2014 Instructor: Meagan Green $175+$90(book) Wednesdays, 5:30-8:30 pm March 18 - May 27 (10 weeks) Learn to work with customer/vendor transactions, create a set of books for a company, deal with physical and selling inventory, use QuickBooks for payroll, do their banking with QuickBooks, and much more. This course is a self-paced approach. (140 day student software included). Students will have the option of taking a Certification Exam to become a “Certified QuickBooks User” for a small additional cost. Getting Paid to Talk Making Money with Your Voice-An Introduction to Professional Voice-overs 6:30-9:00 pm Thursday, May 14 $20 Have you ever been told that you have a great voice? This exciting class will explore numerous aspects of voice over work for television, film, radio, audio books, documentaries and the internet in your area. This will cover all the basics, including how to prepare the all-important demo, how to be successful and earn great income in this exciting field, Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and to hear examples of demos recorded by professional voice actors. Class participants will even have a chance to record a commercial script under the direction of our Voicecoaches.com producer! This class is informative, lots of fun, and a great first step for anyone with an interest in voice acting professionally. Register early! Space is limited.
