OUR DEVELOPMENT
Domis is a family enterprise formed in 1981
on land owned by the Kuzmanovic family – whose
third generation is currently running the
business – in the vicinity of Cacak in central
Serbia. Setting out as a small craft business,
Domis has now grown into a fully-fledged
company with hundreds of employees. It employs
dozens of experts qualified to provide full
technical support to every customer, from the
design stage to the installation of each product.

OUR QUALITY
The motto we cherish in our work is: for all
weather and for all times. All our products
are distinguishable by their superb quality.
The materials we use are natural and the
technologies we apply ensure durability and
resistance to all weather conditions. We offer
our customers ample choice of elements, with
high-quality design and a wide range of colours.
OUR CUSTOMER RELATIONS
Good customer relations are a priority for our
company. We are always open to all forms of
cooperation and compromise. The only thing we
make no compromises on is quality.
OUR SUCCESS
In the 28 years of our company’s operations,
we have manufactured more than 300,000
windows and doors. Of course, our success is
not measured by data and figures alone; it is
confirmed by our satisfied customers in Serbia,
Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania,
FYR Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia, Russia, Ukraine,
Greece, Cyprus, Poland, Norway, Spain, Austria…

KEY USES OF FACADE JOINERY
Protects the interior and the
exterior of your home and adds a
pleasant touch:
the life of paints and varnishes on
your walls and furniture – another
benefit for your home budget.
Natural light is something we
can never have too much of: it is
irreplaceable. Everyone is familiar
with the importance of natural
light and its soothing effect on the
human eye. To make the premises
where we spend time as pleasant
as possible, we need sufficient
natural lighting, and this can be
achieved by making a smart choice
of windows for our home. If glassed
surfaces are large, there will be
more natural light in a room, thus
reducing the need for artificial
lighting. Having fewer light bulbs
on will be beneficial both for your
budget and your mood.
Finally, exterior appearance
should not be disregarded: welldesigned joinery boosts the image
of a building. A proper layout and
appearance of windows and doors
will give a house the much-needed
dynamic nature and enrich the
aesthetic experience. Also, beautiful
windows will add elegance to the
interior and make your stay in it that
bit more pleasant.
Much as natural light is good, UV
rays can be harmful. We have all
read about this countless times. A
good window will ensure controlled
inflow of UV rays into a room.
Lower inflow of UV rays will extend
6
In addition, joinery made of quality
and durable material will retain its
original appearance for many years.
Comfort and safety of premises:
Living in an urban environment is
associated with a multitude of noise
sources, which are likely to cause
stress and thus impact our daily lives
and working ability. One of the vital
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
purposes of windows and doors is to
provide noise protection.
Apart from noise, it is also wise to
keep out potential burglars. Once
again, doors and windows are
indispensable. Burglary protection is
ensured by safety glasses and metal
reinforcements.
To protect against injuries as a result
of glass breakage, you can install
special glass which leaves no sharp
edges if broken and does not fall out
of the window frame.
Energy savings:
The loss of energy which escapes
irrecoverably through a shut
window and the energy lost during
airing accounts for more than 50%
of total energy loss in a building.
Quality joinery is invaluable for
energy savings. The right choice
of a product best suited to the
conditions to which a building is
exposed will depend on the climate
zone and the orientation of the
building. Apart from glass, the
frame also contributes to energy
savings; it must be well sealed, with
a thermal brake in its profile and
with a low heat transfer coefficient.
Environment protection:
In this day and age, when
environment protection is becoming
imperative, the choice of materials
for construction is a crucial factor.
As with other materials, windows
and doors should preferably be
environment-friendly. It is also
necessary to cut the consumption
of fossil fuels, which are often
used for heating, so as to reduce
environmental impact.
Through its inevitable development,
humanity is affecting the
environment. Construction, just like
any other human activity, needs to
serve our needs without damaging
the nature.
Sustainable construction
implies the following:
▪ Use of environment-friendly
building materials;
▪ Energy efficiency of buildings;
▪ Waste management during
the production and installation
of building materials.
Domis is committed
to environment
protection.
Environmental concerns
Energy efficiency
Our care for the environment
begins with the selection of
materials we use in production.
We use only natural and
environmentally safe materials. The
prevailing material is wood, as the
traditional choice for windows and
doors. Burning of wood releases no
harmful gases. Surface protection
is done exclusively with environmentfriendly paint.
Wood has the highest thermal
insulation level of all materials used
in the production of windows. In
addition, our professional advice
will help each customer choose
a product best suited to provide
energy efficiency to their building.
During the production process,
waste is disposed in compliance
with all applicable environmental
regulations, without harmful effects
on the environment.
Our products comply with standards for energy-efficient buildings
and passive houses.
Rest assured: by buying our
products, you will contribute to
protecting our environment, the
ultimate goal of the modern world.
Energy efficiency has become a
major parameter to be taken into
account in construction. We strive
to keep abreast of the demands of
modern construction. Our joinery is
fully in line with the latest standards
and can be built in low-energy houses
and passive houses.
Both the production process and
the installation of joinery receive
our full dedication and attention.
Our workers install our products
with a high level of quality and
professionalism.
Did you know that energy you consume in a house with
standard insulation...
... can heat 3 to 4 energy-efficient houses, or...
... 7 to 8
passive houses?

OUR PRODUCTS
Our products are the ideal choice for
customers who want an attractive and
comfortable home.
The two elements we pay most attention to
are the design and functionality of our joinery.
Without a beautiful and functional product
we cannot reach our ultimate goal – satisfied
customers. We pride ourselves in knowing we
have achieved top results and reached our goal
in both of these segments.
8
Design
Constructions
Design is certainly something the customer
should consider when choosing joinery. As
joinery will take up huge spaces of all premises,
the appearance of windows and doors should
not be disregarded. Our products are carefully
produced and characterised by superlative
design. We will always make an effort to listen
to a customer’s desires and offer optimum
design solutions.
Wood
In spite of the increasing use of metal and
artificial materials, wood traditionally remains
the best choice for façade joinery. In addition to
its natural insulating properties and attractive
appearance, wooden frames provide ample
opportunities for processing and modification.
In modern construction works, this timeless
material is treated with adequate protection
and thus the issue of durability commonly
associated with wooden joinery has become a
thing of the past. However, due to aggressive
atmospheric influences, regular maintenance
cannot be completely avoided.
Functionality
Beautifully designed joinery will be of little use if
it is not functional. It needs to provide protection
from external influences, to let in a sufficient
quantity of natural light and protect the
premises from unnecessary energy loss.
Wood is also a material that enables aesthetic
creativity. Different technological processes can be
applied to make wood look both rustic and modern.
Wood – Aluminium
The combination of wood and aluminium
ensures additional protection of wood
components from atmospheric influences.
An outer aluminium layer makes such joinery
virtually indestructible. This is also a way to
keep the beauty and warmth of the interior
that only wood can provide, while at the
same time adjusting the aluminium to the
exterior of a building through processing. The
construction allows variations of the interior
appearance of joinery in a building, while the
exterior remains unchanged.
Such construction is ideal for those who are
concerned about the weather and maintenance
costs, but are not willing to forgo the natural
beauty of wooden joinery.

We are constantly broadening and upgrading
our long experience in wood processing with
new technologies. Our specific combination of
experience and modern technologies results in
supreme quality of our products.
Wooden profiles are stabilised:
▪▪Wood is dried to an appropriate
level of humidity
▪▪Knots, resin canals and other
irregularities are removed
Careful protection of all surfaces on wooden
profiles prevents external influences on the
wood and effectively delays deterioration.
Coating is done in two layers, according to
the requisite technology, with inter-stage
grinding. Paints are environment-friendly,
degradable in water and elastic, which
prevents the paint coat from cracking when
the wood expands and contracts at different
ambient air temperatures.
Wood is a material that allows and even inspires
creativity. Our fifteen years of experience
and innovative ideas enable us to match the
requirements of diverse architectural and

Fir / juniper
An exceptionally hard wood, yellowish-white to brown in colour.
The texture of oak wood is coarse, its pattern is straight but
irregular and its annual rings are clearly visible because the
early tree has large pores. Oak is highly resistant to mechanical
pressure, optimally resistant to mildew and insects
and very durable.
This is a soft wood with a shiny colour, ranging from yellowish-white
to brownish-grey, with clearly visible rings. It contains resin canals
and deforms easily, which is why profiles made of this wood are
lamelled. This ensures optimum resistance to bending and twisting.

RAL PLASTICIZATION
A wood of medium hardness, deep purple to light red in colour.
The redder this wood is, the heavier and harder it is. Numerous
oval pores are visible. Okoume is a homogenous, stable wood with
exceptional mechanical properties. Of all light deciduous trees,
mahogany has the highest resistance to insects and rotting and
is exceptionally resistant to atmospheric influences.

GLASS
The optimum choice of glass is determined primarily by climate conditions, as
well as by the orientation of a building and the purpose of premises. The following
can be achieved by choosing an optimal type of glass to close façade openings:
Heat loss control, expressed as the heat transfer
coefficient (Ug). The lowest heat transfer coefficient is
achieved with low-emission glasses, which are protected
during processing by a low-emission coating placed on
the surfaces inside the thermo pack. All bodies in a room
emit heat and low-emission coatings prevent uncontrolled
outflow of heat outside the room. This effect can be
increased by injecting an inert gas, which conducts less
heat than air, between two panes.
Heat transmission control. The property of glass called the
solar factor (SF) enables the control of excess heat passing
through a glass into a room.
UV transmission control, expressed as the UV coefficient.
A low UV coefficient is important for preserving the colours
of the interior; their control will ensure they are protected
from changes.

SPECIAL TYPES OF GLASS
Self-cleaning glass. A glass with a special coating which is
activated under the influence of UV rays. Dirt on the glass
is decomposed into organic and inorganic parts which do
not stick to the glass. With every rainfall, the decomposed
particles of dirt are washed off the glass.
Light transmission control, expressed as the light
transmission coefficient (LT), is the quantity of natural
illumination in a building.
CH A R AC T E RI S T I C S O F G L A S S
MARK
Sound proofing, expressed as the sound reduction index
(Rw). Sound proofing is achieved with asymmetrical panes in
the thermo pack. Higher sound proofing level can be reached
with multi-layer, laminate panes, and the best sound proofing
can be obtained with lamelled acoustic panes.
Health and Safety. Special types of glass can be used to
protect against injuries in case of breakage. The type of glass
determines its behaviour in the event of breakage:
A - When broken, standard glass leaves large and sharp
chunks and the risk of injuries is very high;
B – Laminate, multi-layer glass includes minimum two layers
of classic glass held together by an adhesive PVB foil, which
prevents the glass from falling apart and leaving bits with
sharp edges if broken;
C – Tempered glass breaks into tiny shreds and the risk of
injuries is drastically lower.
The aesthetic role of glass. We also stock specially
designed types of glass which add a finishing touch to the
overall aesthetics of a product. We supply sand-blasted,
reflecting or satin glass or custom-made glass, in a wide
range of colours.

FACADE
STANDARD FACADE
The façade raster is constructed is composed of
55mm wide horizontal and vertical elements. It can
be made of aluminium alone or of wood-aluminium.
We take great pride in being one of the very few
manufacturers of wood-aluminium façades. The
supporting construction is made of wooden lamelled
or aluminium profiles, visible on the inside, with depth
varying depending on façade characteristics. Folding
external laths are aluminium-made in both cases.
Diverse opening modes (tilt & turn, slide, folding...)
can be achieved by installing one of the systems from
our product range.

WOODEN AERATED FACADE
Made of full wood (larch, mahogany, oak), superficially protected from
atmospheric influences. If our maintenance instructions are followed to
the letter, this product can retain its original appearance for a long time.
The substructure is made of aluminium and is capable of containing the
expanding and contracting of wood due to changing temperatures. The
substructure and the thermal insulation are placed similarly as in other
aerated facades, so wood can be replaced with another material.
Owing to our top wood-processing skills, this façade offers the quality of
interior design on the exterior of your building.

THE EYES OF OUR HOUSE – THE PAST,
THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE
The Past: Windows as we know them date back thousands of years. It
is believed that the first windows were made out of the sheer need for
more convenient airing of rooms. A quick glance through history books
reveals there wooden windows were mentioned as early as in the ages
of the Corinthians, Romans and ancient Greeks. Initially, they were simply
openings in the walls. Later on, different materials were used to close
those openings, including animal hide, paper, wood etc. Over the ages,
windows have come to be seen also as a decorative element of a house,
as opposed to simple airing holes. The first glassed windows can be traced
to the Middle Ages and were probably first made in France. It is presumed
that the art of stained-glass windows was spread by Venetian masters.
However, it was only in the industrial revolution times that glass became an
indispensable element of every window.
The Present: Today, windows are made from a wide range of materials.
We use high-efficiency panes, optimised to suit the climate conditions
of the area. They protect us from cold, from the Sun, from UV rays,
burglaries and potential injuries. There are even self-cleaning panes and
panes with translucency and reflection qualities that change under the
influence of sunrays – intelligent window panes of sorts, if you will.

The Future: And what does future have in store for us? Indeed, will
we even have to open a window? Will windows be made of some sort
of plasma material which you can walk right through, or will openings
on houses be opened and shut by different air streams, with the same
function as the windows as we know them?
Whatever lies ahead, Domis will persevere on its path of investment in
new ideas, new technologies, new associates with innovative spirit, who
will follow our founding vision which drove us to embark on this journey all
