Spring/Summer 2016
News from The Ear Trust & The Yorkshire Auditory Implant Service
Message from Jane ….
Hello!
I hope you’ve all managed to get through a very wet winter without too many
problems. Thank goodness Spring is just around the corner!
We are experiencing a few changes in the Team. Annie Wooley, Audiologist, has joined us so a big welcome to her.
Natasha Fitt, Clinical Scientist, returns from maternity leave in March so we’ll be very happy to see her but hope she
isn’t too tired after sorting out two young children before setting off for Bradford in a morning! Nicola Royle is
expecting her first baby so she will be starting her maternity leave in April. We wish her all the very best
and look forward to seeing baby Royle in the not too
distant future. Elspeth, who retired last year, has been in touch and you will be happy to know
that she is thoroughly enjoying her new found freedom. She sends her best wishes to everyone.
We are always trying to improve and develop our Service so you may notice some changes in
the way we provide support in 2016….if you do please let us know what you think. Thank you
for letting us know about your achievements. I really enjoy receiving emails and letters about
what you have been up to.
Please keep them coming in.
Very best wishes,
Jane

Do you want to meet other people who use
Cochlear Implants?
Cochlear implant (CI) user groups allow you to share ideas
and get tips about how to get the most out of your implant
through talking to others over a coffee and biscuit.
The groups provide a chance to meet people who are further
down their cochlear implant journeys, people who have only
recently been switched on and
people under assessment for a
cochlear implant.
YAIS now runs CI user groups
for adult recipients and their
families and friends in Hull,
Barnsley, Bradford and Ilkley
every 3 months. One of our
audiological technicians (Andy or Shazia) will be at the Hull,
Bradford and Barnsley Groups and will be available to check
that your cochlear implant equipment is working optimally. If
you need any help with maintaining your Implant (e.g. changing microphone covers) they will be able to give you assistance.
If you would like to be added to the invitation list for any of
these groups please contact Lynne Tapper or Jillian
Ridgwell at YAIS 01274 364853
