Meeting opened at 10:07 by Chair, Matt Barringer
Introductions around the room
Review of January 2016 minutes.
Motion to accept by Sam Gonzalez.
Seconded by Roger Richards.
Craig Miller, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services, spoke about City & County ordinances
regarding run-off, storm drains, discharge, and violations. Containment, storage, and disposal is an
issue. You can empty into a private pit that is contained and allow the discharge to dry. For areas
over an acre you need a permit from the State of North Carolina. There are rental companies that
.
supply containers for the discharge Storm Water Services would rather avoid issuing citations and
violations and would prefer compliance. Enforcement could include fines up to $5,000.00 per day.
Craig will send an email which is a draft he would like the group to review. (email sent)

TWC = 56 damages

BRS = 1 damage
o 22 hours of idle time waiting on locators
o Keep a track record of your down time
When you hit a line that was marked incorrectly, USIC will send out an investigator.
Working too close together causes confusion. Let’s verify who we are by possibly using
car magnets or some other type of verification to tell who’s who.
The APP will show you who is out there working & what they are doing. Or get the ticket
#, call it in & find out who is working near you.
Homeowners – what are some of the things you’ve seen them do that will get them into
trouble?
o Putting up their own fences
o Landscaping
Let’s try to figure out a way to resolve our issues regarding locates, down time & cut
lines instead of just talking about it.
Everyone needs to be accountable for their facilities
Tickets are up in every county except one
