THE BODIES OF THE SUBTLE REALM
Everything around us, what we touch,
see and even
what we can’t
see is made up
of particles of
matter. All of
the matter in
our
universe
can
be
measured by
vibrational
frequencies.
Nothing rests,
everywhere
you
look,
everything
moves,
all
things vibrate,
from the tiniest atom to the largest
galaxy and everything in-between them.
Everything in this world has its own
unique vibrational pattern, whether it is
solid, liquid, or gas.
The third dimension, where we
exist, has been referred to as lower
frequency vibrations.
When things
vibrate slowly, such as our physical
body or an object, we don’t hear any
noise. As these vibrations increase, the
noise gets louder and louder and we
begin to somehow hear a low-pitched
sound just as if we were listening to the
ascending notes of a piano.
The
interesting thing here is that as these
vibrations continue to increase to higher
frequencies, we may not be able to
hear the sound again. The reason for
this is that this sound is capable of
traveling beyond what is referred to as
our audible sound spectrum.
An easier way to understand this
concept is to think of the visible light
spectrum. We are limited to seeing the
colors of the rainbow within this
spectrum. Right? Well this is because
each visible color is comprised of a
range of wavelengths that appear to us
as bands of color. When we see this
spectrum, we notice the colors red,
orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and
violet. Violet then vibrates higher into
what’s referred to as ultraviolet where
we no longer have the ability to see the
color with our naked eyes.
Did you know that the human
eye actually sees only less than 10% of
the total electromagnetic spectrum?
Just as various sounds and colors have
their own vibrations, our thoughts,
emotions,
and
desires
transmit
vibrations and waves into the universe.
Our mental, emotional and spiritual
states have a profound influence on
energies around us. We could say that
our body is the point of focus where
matter
and
non-matter
exist
simultaneously. We could also perhaps
say that we do not live exclusively in the
world of space or in the world of time.
It’s as if our physical body and our soul
allows the merging of these multiple
aspects of creation in one location.
Therefore, it is very important to
pay close attention to our thoughts,
emotions, feelings and words. These
vibrations, which we generate, not only
affect us, but also impact the people
around us. Our thoughts, feelings,
emotions and words are a very powerful
part of the continual process of our
creation. They are constantly affecting
and shaping our more delicate bodies in
the subtle realm.
If we can begin to understand
the
relationships
among
these
dimensions, then perhaps we can enjoy
a healthier, happier and more creative
way of life. This is when we can begin
relating to each other with compassion,

possibilities, hope, joy and loving
kindness and in harmony with the "real
life." Each one of us and our clients
have the power to choose positive
thoughts and behaviors that will help us
all evolve to the higher vibrational
frequencies. Unfortunately, we all have
such incredibly busy lifestyles and we
are so consumed by the world and are
totally unaware of our soul abilities and
the fact that there is more to us than
just this physical realm.
Our subtle bodies extend beyond
the physical body in layers. The layers
closest to the body vibrate at lower
frequencies and those farther away
from the body vibrate at higher
frequencies. All are interconnected
force fields influencing each other. As
you move outward away from the
physical body, the subtle bodies
become progressively lighter and more
delicate, layer-by-layer.
The first layer beyond the
physical body is called the corporeal or
etheric body. We also often tend to
refer to it as the template or mold for
our physical body. It is formed prior to
the formation of the embryo. Then the
physical body forms on the basis of this
pattern. Its main function is to condense
the sun's energy in the solar plexus
receptors and storage area. This first
level of the auric field is the origin of the
body's electrical current.
The second body is called the
celestial or astral body. This body is
tenderer, and is situated over the
etheric body. Feelings and emotions
are expressed in this second level of
the auric field. When individuals are
feeling positive and good about
themselves, bright, clear, colors are
evident. Negative or self-destructive
feelings however, emanate

The third body is called the
rational or causal body. This level of the
auric field is correlated with mental
activity. It is more delicate, luminous
and transparent than the celestial body.
Revelation and inspiration originate
from this body. You may hear this level
referred to as the intentional or
compassionate body, representing our
relationships. This includes how we
relate to everything, people, plants,
animals, inanimate objects, the earth,
the sun, the moon, the stars and the
universe.
The fourth body is the luminous
body, sometimes called the fire halo.
This body is responsible for the
ascension of the rational soul to the
spiritual world. It allows the soul to be
expressed in the physical body and
experience the feelings of spiritual love,
joy, and oneness with existence. The
average auric field of an active person
ranges from 5 to 8 feet in diameter.
The four layers I briefly
described above are a simplified
version of the human energy field.
There are many layers of this energy
field, which become subtler and
therefore difficult to see and will be
detailed below. Our aura regulates the
flow of energy and guards us against
unhealthy energies. Our subtle bodies
should be balanced on an ongoing
basis in order to maintain good health,
spiritual growth and total well-being.

Basic Seven Chakras
One of the basic tenets of new age is that each human body has seven Chakras energy locations that can be blocked, healed, and even seen by some. Chakras are a
core belief of yoga, and have been incorporated into many different new age practices.
The Chakra system was first developed in India in the Middle Ages. The word "Chakra"
is a Sanskrit word, meaning wheel. The major Chakras are located along the spinal
column of the body - starting at your perineum and going up to the top of your head at
your crown. Each Chakra is traditionally represented by a different color of the rainbow
- starting with red at the bottom up to violet on the crown. Each Chakra location
represents different emotions and feelings. Ideally all the Chakras should be balanced,
open and spinning at a similar rate to each other. Most of us however have some
Chakras, which are overactive, and others that are closed down or under active.
First Chakra - Root Chakra – Red
The root Chakra is the Chakra located at your perineum, at the bottom of your spine.
The root Chakra is represented by the first color of the rainbow - red. If your root
Chakra is healthy, it governs your basic instincts for survival. It controls your ability to
maintain a home, to earn money to pay the bills, to have enough for your physical
needs. If this Chakra is unhealthy, it can cause you to be greedy, feel needy, or
unappreciative of what you do have. It can cause you to neglect the steps necessary to
maintain your environment. To help strengthen your root Chakra, focus on the color
red, which is found in ruby and garnet gemstones. Visualize a red flower opening. If
the problem is that you are too open at the root Chakra, and are suffering issues of
greed or domination in relationships, then it is time to balance the root Chakra. See the
red flower gently closing.

Second Chakra - Sacral Chakra – Orange
The second Chakra is the sacral Chakra, represented by the color orange. The word
sacral relates both to the back of your pelvis, as well as meaning "sacred". Looking at
the front of a person, the sacral Chakra would be located at around the bellybutton.
The sacral Chakra governs the creative and emotion related energies. If your sacral
Chakra is in balance, then you find yourself on an even keel when you relate to people.
You find yourself able to pursue your creative hobbies, to write, paint, sing or dance. If
your sacral Chakra is out of balance, this could cause you to have roller coasters of
emotions - perhaps being too obsessive about someone, or perhaps falling into deep
despair over issues that really are not that bad. It could cause you to have problems
feeling creative - writing that paper, thinking up new ideas to solve issues in your life.
Visualize an orange flower at the sacral opening its petals. This will help you find ways
to express your emotions more fully, and tap into your inner creativity. If the problem is
that your sacral Chakra is too open - that your emotions are swinging wildly out of
control, that you are so hyper that you do not have time to focus on any of your ideas
imagine the orange flower gently closing its petals.
Third Chakra - Solar Plexus Chakra - Yellow
The third Chakra is that of the solar plexus. This is located below your ribs near your
stomach. Interestingly, with the word "solar" in this Chakra's name, its color is yellow.
In essence your solar plexus is a group of nerves that has a very 'radiating' appearance
to it, which is why it got its name. This Chakra is in control of your energies and
activities. It controls the things you choose to do and why you choose to do them. If
your solar plexus Chakra is healthy, you will make wise decisions in your life, choose to
work on projects that are worth your time and feel content with the results you achieve.
If you are having problems with your solar plexus Chakra, you could make bad
judgment calls or head down paths, which are clearly bad for you. You could also
become a workaholic, pouring far too much time and attention into a given part of your
life.
If the problem is that you are not finding the right paths or applying yourself properly to
a chosen path, it's time to find some honey calcite, topaz or amber. The solar plexus is
like a powerhouse, if you focus on the area you should feel its warmth radiating out.
Imagine a beautiful yellow flower opening its petals wide here. If the issue is that this
Chakra is over energized compared to the others and you are over working or trying to
go ahead too fast then gently close the yellow petalled flower. Take time to be patient
and seek the correct balance.

Fourth Chakra - Heart Chakra – Green
The heart Chakra is the fourth Chakra, and is represented by the color green. In some
people who have developed the ability to be unconditionally loving, the heart Chakra
becomes a rosy pink. This is the Chakra of love, romance, relationships and
communication. If your heart Chakra is healthy, you will both be able to empathize with
others as well as accept love and friendship into your own life. You will have good
friends who you get along with, and will be able to form loving relationships. You will
also be compassionate towards yourself. If your heart Chakra is unhealthy, you will
have trouble maintaining friendships and finding love. It might be that you feel lonely or
are hard on yourself. It might also be that you are obsessive and domineering, or
closed off, 'cold hearted'. To help open your heart Chakra, try working with green
stones such as jade or aventurine. To be kinder and more loving towards yourself try
rose quartz or mangano calcite. See a beautiful pink flower opening at your heart. Rose
and geranium essential oil can help here. This will help draw friendship and romance
into your world. If the problem is that you are jealous or possessive it's time to cool
things down. Interestingly, because this is the central Chakra, you also use green to
bring it down as well - your aim here is to focus more on the love, and less on the
control. You need to learn to trust. You may sometimes feel too sensitive. At these
times visualize the pink flower gently closing for a while, but don't leave it closed, it is
important we all learn to work from the heart.
Fifth Chakra - Throat Chakra – Blue
The fifth Chakra, of the throat, is the primary focus of communication and action.
Represented by blue, this Chakra helps ensure you are heard and that you can speak
your truth. If you have a healthy fifth Chakra, you are able to communicate easily with
friends and family - with those you work and interact with. You're even able to give talks
in front of an audience. If you're having trouble with your fifth Chakra, you might be shy
or intimidated by these situations and feel unable to say what you really mean. You
might also be too talkative - boisterous or overbearing in situations where you should
listen more. If you want to strengthen your throat Chakra, try blue lace agate or
turquoise. Visualize a sky blue flower at your throat unfolding its petals. This will help
you express yourself better and be more self-assured. If the problem is that you are
too talkative or overbearing, it's time to tone things down. Balance is important between
the Chakras and this would suggest your throat Chakra is overactive compared to the
others. Imagine a blue flower softly closing its petals.

Sixth Chakra - Brow Chakra – Purple
The sixth Chakra is the brow Chakra, also called the Chakra of the third eye. The color
assigned to this Chakra is indigo, or purple. This is the Chakra of intuition, of thought
and of spirituality. If you have a healthy sixth Chakra, you are at peace with yourself,
and are able to study and investigate issues of spirituality. You will also be able to
develop your psychic awareness. If, on the other hand, your sixth Chakra is unhealthy
or closed, it could cause you to jump from idea to idea with little focus. It could also
cause you to cling to a single idea without any ability to even consider or discuss any
other idea- hence 'close minded'.
If your aim is to open and clear your sixth Chakra, try working with amethyst or lapis
lazuli. Focus on the spot just above and between your two physical eyes. You may get
a glimpse of your third eye, usually very beautiful, looking right back at you. Even if you
don't see it you may become aware of it. You may imagine a deep blue flower gently
opening its petals wide. If the issue is that you that you are overwhelmed with psychic
information and it is interfering in your everyday life you may ask the Chakra to gently
close. Either visualize the third eyelid closing or petals of a blue flower folding softly
inwards.
Seventh Chakra - Crown Chakra – Violet
The seventh and final Chakra is the crown Chakra, represented by the color violet. It is
sometimes also represented by white. This Chakra controls wisdom and true
understanding. When the seventh Chakra is healthy, it allows you to plan your life and
handle the daily trials and tribulations that life throws at you. You will feel your link with
the Divine and with the rest of creation. When your seventh Chakra is unhealthy, it
leads to unwise decisions, unhappiness, and a sense of indecision. You will feel alone
and separate. If your aim is to open your seventh Chakra, then you should start with
amethyst or quartz. Meditation is a key to developing the crown Chakra. Visualize a
beautiful flower at your crown with hundreds of petals gently opening. This will help you
find wisdom and a sense of universal connection. If the problem is that your seventh
Chakra is too open, and you are finding it hard to cope with the hustle and bustle of
everyday living then imagine the same flower gently closing the petals over to protect
the Chakra.

THE AURA
The word aura means atmosphere or light, and is an appropriate enough term to use,
given the nature of this phenomenon. It is usually defined as a sort of multidimensional energy field, made up of the emanations of each of the subtle bodies. The
aura can be considered a series or composite of subtle bodies. Each of these subtle
bodies is also a specific psychic energy field or aura containing thought-forms, ideas,
emotions, desires, blocks, fixations, attached entities, and various other things that
might happen to be floating around in your psyche. But because each aura is at a
different "vibratory" level, it only contains things that pertain to its own particular nature.
Blue Aura
Blues are some of the most loving, nurturing and supportive personalities of the colors.
They live from their heart and emotions. Their purpose for being on the planet is to give
love, to teach love and to learn that they are loved. Their priorities are love, relationships,
and spirituality. Blues are traditionally teachers, counselors, and nurses---basically the
loving, nurturers and caretakers on the planet. Blues are constantly helping others.
People are always turning to Blues for comfort and counsel because Blues will always
be there for them. Blues are the most emotional personalities in the aura spectrum.
Blues cry when they are happy, hurt, angry, sad, or for no apparent reason at all.
Crystal Aura
Crystal is a rare color. Crystals have clear auras and are known as the “aura chameleons.”
Like chameleons, their auras will change colors to match those of the people they are
connecting with at the time. They then take on the characteristics, behavior patterns,

emotions and thoughts of that color. However, the Crystals’ inconsistencies can also
confuse people. One minute Crystals think and behave like Greens. A short while later, they
can act like Blues. The more they connect and bond with others, the more their personalities
change.
Because Crystals tend to absorb the colors of other people’s auras, people can, at times, feel
an energy drain when they are in the presence of Crystals. In power, Crystals can be a clear
conduit or channel for healing energy. While healing, balanced Crystals are able to keep
their thoughts and emotions out of the way, making the healing more pure. Crystals do not
always understand their healing abilities. These rare souls are often physically fragile and
delicate. Because of their unusual sensitivity, they can only heal one person at a time.
They then need to go to a peaceful place to cleanse their aura. Working with too many
people can short-circuit their system.
Green Aura
Greens are some of the most powerful and intelligent people in the aura spectrum.
Greens are extremely bright. They process information and ideas quickly. They do not
like dealing with all the steps and details in between. Greens are some of the most
powerful. A project that is too detailed is tedious and boring for Greens. Greens are
very drawn to money, power, and business. These quick-thinkers are very organized
and efficient. Greens recognize patterns and discover solutions very quickly. When
Greens are in their power, they can accomplish anything, to achieve them. Greens are
“movers and shakers” when it comes to taking action. They are also typically the

workaholics on the planet. Greens are highly competitive and enjoy
challenges.
Gambling is common for Greens. Being strong-willed, these powerful personalities are
determined to have their own way, which they usually feel is the right way.
Indigo Aura
Indigo is the most recent aura color to arrive on the planet. Indigos are ushering in a new
energy, a new consciousness, and a new age of peace and harmony. Whereas Violets
feel driven to help save the planet, to educate the masses, and to improve life here,
Indigos are here to live as examples of a new higher awareness. At this writing, most of
the Indigos are children, although there are a few Indigos who came as forerunners
years ago. The words used to describe Indigos include honest, aware, highly intuitive,
psychic, independent, fearless, strong-willed, and sensitive.

Indigos are old souls who know who they are and where they’ve come from. Parents
also report that these children can read their minds and seem to have amazing psychic
abilities. Parents are often at a loss as to how to raise these amazing little beings. An
unusual characteristic of Indigos is that they frequently appear androgynous. It is often
difficult to tell if Indigos are male or female, homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, or
asexual.
Lavender Aura
Fantasy, enchantment, dreams, myths, spiritual beings, angels, fairies are all concepts
which fill the Lavenders’ mind. Lavenders tend to live in a fantasy world. They prefer to
spend their time out of their bodies, where life is pretty and enchanting. Lavenders
prefer imaginary pictures of the world, seeing butterflies, flowers and wood nymphs
rather than dirt, concrete and large cities. Physical reality seems cold and harsh to them.
These sensitive creatures are fragile and frail, and their physical appearance is often
weak and pale. Lavenders’ skin is often alabaster white because they don’t like being
outdoors, unless it is to be gently surrounded by beautiful flowers and gardens. These
child-like personalities are sensitive and simple.
The Lavenders behavior tends to frustrate others who may expect them to be

dependable and responsible. Lavenders have no understanding of what it means to hold
a responsible job or to earn money. Lavenders even have a difficult time relating to or
connecting with the concepts of time, space and physical matter.
Magenta Aura
Magentas are rare and not commonly found on the planet these days. Magentas are the
nonconformists in the aura spectrum. They are usually seen as bizarre loners. They see
life from a different and unusual perspective. They follow the beat of their own
drummers. Magentas love to shock people, to shake them from their ordinary, humdrum
existence. For example, Magentas will walk down the street donning wild clothes and
purple Mohawk haircuts. Other people don’t usually have the nerve or the desire to live
the lifestyle of the Magentas. Because of their outrageous behavior, Magentas prefer to
live in large, crowded cities where they don’t stand out as much and aren’t pressured to
conform. These free spirits aren’t usually concerned about what others think, but in large
cities they are more apt to have the freedom to express themselves.

Orange Aura
Oranges are the thrill-seekers and daredevils of the aura spectrum. They love the
challenge and excitement of physical danger. They love to challenge their environment
and go beyond any accepted physical limits. Oranges put their lives on the line just to
feel alive; the stakes must actually be life and death for Oranges to feel a sense of
accomplishment and satisfaction. They love the adrenaline rush of excitement in the
face of danger. For Oranges, thrills, cunning skill, and excitement are the essentials in
life. Everything else is just passive existence.
Red Aura
Reds are physical and sexual. They love expressing themselves through their sensuality
and their physical bodies. They live their lives in the here-and-now with zest, strength,
courage and self-confidence. Reds love to live in physical reality, to manipulate their
environment. Reality must be tangible to them. They must be able to see, touch, hear,
taste and smell it. Reds are not abstract thinkers. A wall is a wall and there is no need
for further discussion or speculation. Reality is literal, not ethereal or complicated. Reds
require proof that something exists. It must have a concrete and tangible substance.
Reds remind us that we have bodies, that we are matter flesh and blood. These robust
personalities enjoy the physical aspect of life. They don’t try to see life as an illusion or
try to escape from it into a fantasy world.
Violet Aura
Violets are the inspirational visionaries, leaders and teachers who are here to help save
the planet. Most Violets feel drawn to educate the masses, to inspire higher ideals, to
improve the quality of life on the planet, or to help save people, animals and the
environment. All Violets have an inner sense that they are here to do something
important, that their destiny is greater than that of the average person. Most Violets have
felt this way since childhood. As children, many Violets imagined becoming famous, or
traveling the planet, possibly joining humanitarian causes such the Peace Corp. Many of
these charismatic personalities take on roles as leaders and teachers, while other
Violets prefer to reach people through music, film or other art form. Inner forces seem to
push Violets to move into action, to fulfill their life purpose. Violets know they are here to
do something significant. However, they aren’t always sure what that something is or
how to accomplish it.

Many Violets were taught as children that their dreams and aspirations were unrealistic,
so they have lost touch with their original visions. It’s important for Violets to reconnect
with their life purpose and vision, and to take action. Otherwise they will always feel
unfulfilled. They will always sense something is missing from their lives. Violets need to
learn to slow down long enough to listen to their inner voice and to connect with their
higher vision.
Yellow Aura
Yellows are the most fun-loving, free-spirited, energetic, and childlike personalities in the
aura spectrum. Yellows are wonderful, sensitive, optimistic beings, whose life purpose is
to bring joy to people, to have fun, and to help heal the planet. Yellows can either be
very shy and sensitive, or they can be the life of the party. These playful characters have
a great sense of humor. They love to laugh and to make others laugh. Yellows believe
life is to be enjoyed. They like to live life freely and spontaneously. With a perpetual
smile on their face, they remind people to not take themselves or their problems too
seriously. Yellows would prefer not to work at all, unless their work was fun, playful, or
creative. They love nature, and often have concerns for the survival of wildlife and the
environment. Cities they are more apt to have the freedom to express themselves.

reason I am using this model and not similiar ones like the five koshas of Vedanta,
seven principles of Blavatsky, seven bodies of Adyar Theosophy, seven or nine level
self of Steiner, etc, is because Barbara Brennan presents, in my opinion, the most
detailed coverage that is free of religious or mytho-symbolic overburden and
intellectual rigidity, and at the same time does not confuse the various planes (it is
accepted that it is only the formative/etheric body that we are considering here). This
is not to say that it is the only option, or even necessarily the best possible one. But it
is at least a good starting point. It is hoped that eventually with enough such
paradigms and exemplars it might (and I stress might) be possible to construct a
universal esoteric science comparable to (and embracing) the methodological science
of materialism. Or at least to make a tentative beginning.

The Etheric Body (First Layer)
"The etheric body (from "ether" the state between energy and matter) is composed of
tiny energy lines "like a sparkling web of light beams" similar to the lines on a television
screen. It has the same structure as the physical body including all the anatomical
parts and all the organs.
The etheric body consists of a definite structure of lines of force, or energy matrix,
upon which the physical matter of the body tissues is shaped and anchored. The
physical tissues exist as such only because of the vital field behind them; that is, the
field is prior to, not a result of, the physical body. This relationship has been supported
in the observations of plant growth by Dr. John Pierrakos and myself. Through the use
of High Sense Perception, we observed that an energy field matrix in the shape of a
leaf is projected by the plant prior to the growth of a leaf, and then the leaf grows into
that already existing form.
The web-like structure of the etheric body is in constant motion. To clairvoyant vision,
sparks of bluish-white light move along its energy lines throughout the entire dense
physical body. The etheric body extends from one quarter to two inches beyond the
physical body and pulsates about 15-20 cycles per minute.
The color of the etheric body varies from light blue to gray. The light blue color has
been connected to a finer form than the gray. That is, a more sensitive person with a
sensitive body will tend to have a bluish first layer whereas a more athletic, robust type
of person will tend to have a more grayish etheric body. All the Chakras of this layer
are the same color as the body. That is, they will also range between blue to gray in
color. The Chakras look like vortices made of a net of light, just like the rest of the
etheric body. One can perceive all the organs of the physical body, but they are formed
of this scintillating bluish light. As in the leaf's energy system, this etheric structure sets
up the matrix for the cells to grow; i.e., the cells of the body grow along the lines of
energy of the etheric matrix, and that matrix is there before the cells grow. If one were
to isolate the etheric body and look only at it, it would look like a man or woman made
of bluish lines of light in constant scintillation, rather like Spiderman.
By observing the shoulder of someone in dim light against a plain white or plain black
or dark blue background, you may be able to see the pulsations of this etheric body.
The pulsation rises, say at the shoulder, and then makes its way down the arm, like a
wave. If you look more closely, there appears to be a blank space between the
shoulder and the blue hazy light; then there is a layer of brighter blue haze that slowly
fades as it extends from the body. But be aware that as soon as you see it, it will be
gone, because it moves so fast. It will have pulsated down the arm by the time you
take a second look to check yourself out. Try again. You will catch the next pulsation."

The Emotional Body (Second Layer)
The second auric body, or next finer after the etheric body, is generally called the
emotional body, and is associated with feelings. It roughly follows the outline of the
physical body. Its structure is much more fluid than the etheric and does not duplicate
the physical body. Rather, it appears to be colored clouds of fine substance in
continual fluid motion. It extends one to three inches from the body.
This body interpenetrates the denser bodies that it surrounds. Its colors vary from
brilliant clear hues to dark muddy ones, depending on the clarity or confusion of the
feeling or energy that produces them. Clear and highly energized feelings such as
love, excitement, joy or anger are bright and clear; those feelings that are confused are
dark and muddy. As these feelings become energized through personal interaction,
body psychotherapy, etc., the colors separate out into their primary hue and brighten.
This body contains all the colors of the rainbow. Each Chakra looks like a vortex of a
different color and follows the colors of the rainbow.
In general, the body appears to be blobs of color moving within the matrix of the
etheric field and also extending beyond it a bit. At times a person may throw off color
blobs of energy into the air around him. This is especially observable when someone is
releasing feelings in a therapy session.

The Mental Body (Third Layer)
"The third aura body is the mental body. This body extends beyond the emotional and
is composed of still finer substances, all of which are associated with thoughts and
mental processes. This body usually appears as a bright yellow light radiating about
the head and shoulders and extending around the whole body. It expands and
becomes brighter when its owner is concentrating on mental processes. It extends
from three to eight inches (7.5 to 20 cm) from the body
The mental body is also a structured body. It contains the structure of our ideas. This
body is mostly yellow. Within this field can be seen thought forms. They appear to be
blobs of varying brightness and form. These thought forms have additional colors
superimposed on them, actually emanating from the emotional level. The color
represents the person's emotion that is connected to the thought form. The clearer and
more well-formed the idea, the clearer and more well-formed is the thought form
associated with that idea. We enhance these thought forms by focusing on the

thoughts they represent. Habitual thoughts become very powerful well-formed forces
that then affect our lives.
This body has been the hardest for me to observe. This may be partly caused by the
fact that human beings are really just beginning to develop the mental body and are
just beginning to use their intellects in clear ways. For that reason we are very
conscious of mental activity and consider ourselves an analytical society.

The Astral Level (Fourth Layer)
"The astral body is amorphous and is composed of clouds of color more beautiful than
those of the emotional body. The astral body tends to have the same set of colors, but
they are usually infused with the rose light of love. It extends out about one half to one
foot (15 to 30 cm) from the body. The Chakra are the same octave of colors as the
rainbow of the emotional body, but each is infused with the rose light of love. The
heart Chakra of a loving person is full of rose light on the astral level.
When people fall in love, beautiful arcs of rose light can be seen between their hearts,
and a beautiful rose color is added to the normal golden pulsations I observe in the
pituitary gland. When people form relationships with each other, they grow cords out of
the Chakras that connect them. These cords exist on many levels of the auric field in
addition to the astral. The longer and deeper the relationship, the more cords and the
stronger they are. When relationships end, those cords are torn, sometimes causing a
great deal of pain. The period of "getting over" a relationship is usually a period of
disconnecting those cords on the lower levels of the field and rerooting them within the
self.
A great deal of interaction takes place between people on the astral level. Great blobs
of color of various forms whisk across the room between people. Some of it is pleasant
and some not so pleasant. You can feel the difference. You may feel uneasy about
someone across the room that is apparently not even aware of your presence;
however on another level a lot is happening. I have seen people standing next to each
other in a group pretending not to notice each other, when on the energy level there is
a whole communication taking place with lots of energy forms moving between them.
You have no doubt experienced this yourself, especially between men and women. It
is not just body language; there is an actual energetic phenomenon that can be
perceived. For example, when a man or woman fantasize about making love with
someone, say in a bar or at a party, there is an actual testing in the energy fields to
see if the fields are synchronous and if the people are compatible."

The Etheric Template Body (Fifth Layer)
"I call the fifth layer of the aura the etheric template because it contains all the forms
that exist on the physical plane in a blue-print or template form. That is, it looks rather
like the negative of a photograph. It is the template form for the etheric layer, which as
was already stated, is the template form for the physical body. The etheric layer of the
energy field derives its structure from the etheric template layer. It is the blueprint or
the perfect form for the etheric layer to take. It extends from about one and one half to
two feet (45 to 60 cm) from the bodu. In disease, when the etheric layer becomes
disfigured, etheric template work is needed to provide the support for the etheric layer
in its original template form. It is the level at which sound creates matter. It is at this
level that sounding in healing is the most effective. To my clairvoyant sight, these
forms appear as clear or transparent lines on a cobalt blue background, much like an
architect's blueprint, only this blueprint exists in another dimension. It is as if a form is
made by completely filling in the background space, and the empty space left creates
the form.
The etheric template is the template for the etheric body, which then forms the grid
structure (structured energy field) upon which the physical body grows. Thus, the
etheric template level of the universal energy field contains all the shapes and forms
that exist on the physical plane, except on the template level. These exist in negative
space, creating an empty space in which the etheric grid structure grows and upon
which all physical manifestation exists.

The Celestial Body (Sixth Layer)
"The sixth level is the emotional level of the spiritual plane, called the celestial body. It
extends about two to two and a half feet (60 to 75 cm) from the body. It is the level
through which we experience spiritual ecstasy. We can reach it through meditation
and many forms of transformation work. When we reach the point of "being", where
we know our connection with all the universe, when we see the light and love in
everything that exists, when we are immersed in the light and feel we are of it and it is
us and feel that we are one with God, then we have raised our consciousness to the
sixth level of the aura.
Unconditional love flows when there is a connection between the open heart Chakra
and the open celestial Chakra. In this connection, we combine the love of humanity,
our basic human love for our fellow humans in the flesh, with the spiritual ecstasy
found in the spiritual love that goes beyond the physical reality to all the realms of
existence. Combining these two creates the experience of unconditional love.

The celestial body appears to me in beautiful shimmering light, composed mostly of
pastel colors. This light has a gold-silver shine and opalescent quality, like mother of
pearl sequins. Its form is less defined than the etheric template level in that it simply
appears to be composed of light that radiates out from the body like the glow around a
candle. Within this glow are also brighter, stronger beams of light.

The Ketheric Template or Causal Body (Seventh Layer)
"The seventh level is the mental level of the spiritual plane called the ketheric template.
It extends from about two and one half to three and one half feet (75 to 105 cm) from
the body. When we bring our consciousness to the seventh level of the aura, we know
that we are one with the Creator. The outer form is the egg shape of the aura body and
contains all the auric bodies associated with the present incarnation an individual is
undergoing. This body, too, is a highly structured template. It appears to my vision as
composed of tiny threads of gold-silver light of very strong durability that hold the
whole form of the aura together. It contains a golden grid structure of the physical body
and all the Chakras.
When "tuning" into the frequency level of the seventh layer, I perceive beautiful golden
shimmering light that is pulsating so fast that I use the term "shimmering!' It looks like
thousands of golden threads. The golden egg form extends out beyond the body some
three to three and a half feet depending on the person with the smaller tip beneath the
feet and the larger end about three feet above the head. It can expand even more, if
the person is very energetic. The outer edge actually looks like an eggshell to me; it
appears to have a thickness of about a quarter to a half-inch (6 to 13 mm). This outer
part of the seventh layer is very strong and resilient, resistant to penetration and
protects the field just as an eggshell protects the chick. All the Chakras and body forms
appear to be made of golden light on this level. This is the strongest, most resilient
level of the auric field.
It could be likened to a standing light wave of intricate shape and form vibrating at an
extremely high rate. One can almost hear a sound when looking at it. I'm sure a sound
could be heard if one meditated on such a picture. The golden template level also
contains the main power current that runs up and down the spine and is the main
power current that nourishes the whole body. As this golden power current pulsates up
and down the spine, it carries energies through the roots of each Chakra and connects
the energies that are taken in through each Chakra.
The main vertical power current induces other currents at right angles to it to form
golden streamers that extend directly outward from the body. These in turn induce
other currents that circle around the field, so that the entire auric field and all the levels
below it are surrounded and held within this basket-like network. This network shows

the power of the golden light, the divine mind that holds the whole field together in its
entirety and its integrity.
In addition, in the ketheric template level are also the past life bands within the
eggshell. These are colored bands of light which completely encircle the aura and can
be found anywhere on the eggshell surface. The band found near the head-neck area
is usually the band containing the past life that you are working to clear in your present
life circumstance. Jack Schwarz speaks of these bands and how to tell their meaning
by their color. The ketheric level is the last auric level in the spiritual plane. It contains
the life plan and is the last level directly related to this incarnation. Beyond this level is
the cosmic plane, the plane that cannot be experienced from the limiting viewpoint of
only one incarnation.

The Cosmic Plane
"The two levels above the seventh that I am able to see at this point are the eighth and
ninth levels. They are each associated with the eighth and ninth Chakras located
above the head. Each level appears to be crystalline and composed of very fine high
vibrations. The eighth and ninth levels seem to follow the general pattern of alternating
between substance (eighth level) and form (ninth level) in that the eighth appears
mostly a fluid substance and the ninth appears to be a crystalline template of
everything below it. I have not found references to these levels in the literature,
although they may be there. I know very little about these levels, except for certain
very powerful healing practices that I have been taught by my guides." [And discussed

If it is bright and extended widely around you, this means that you are feeling happy,
optimistic and good about life.
If it is dark and narrow, this could mean that you are depressed, ill, listless or afraid.
If it is even on all sides, this means that you are well balanced and consistent

which energy can be expressed in a certain set of actions, attitudes and emotions. The
Chakra are a map of the soul, which you must move along for healing to happen.
