The Veterinary Nursing consultancy is presenting a unique CPR training event. The training is focused upon providing
every member of the veterinary team the skills and knowledge to feel confident in assisting in patient resuscitation.
The course is structured to provide the theory behind the techniques used during CPR as well as...
• Organising and assisting with equipment / how to use during CPR
• Development of a “Crash cart / box” with supplies for venous access /airway management and drug therapy
• Identifying the at risk patients
• Understanding coding systems
• Team management: define your role
• The principles of basic life support: Airway, Breathing and Circulation
• Advanced life support: extending the scope of CPR beyond ABC
• The Veterinary Nurse’s role in drug therapy: understanding drug therapy
• Defibrillation: why?
• Monitoring during cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• Return of spontaneous circulation: what next?
• Team assessment: success or failure / trauma debrief
The theory is then put to the test in a relaxed and interactive way! With full hands on
practical CPR training on state-of-the-art advanced tailor-made Veterinary ‘critical
care’ canine and feline manikins direct from the USA. Rescue Critters - Critical Jerry
(Canine) and Rescue Critter - Critical Fluffy (Feline)
Each manikin has been specially designed for veterinary emergency room
training. They have a realistic larynx, epiglottis, trachea and oesophagus
that enable intubation, along with working lungs and an artificial pulse. The
manikins allow for full thoracic compressions and venepuncture, and also
provide a variety of heart and lung sounds for auscultation of the critical
patient.
The theoretical and practical course
will be completed in three hours and has
been designed to allow delegates to choose either
the morning session - 10am - 1pm or the afternoon
session 2pm - 5pm. Refreshments will be provided. Due to the
practical nature of the course delegate numbers are limited.
CPR course notes and a certificate of attendance will be provided.
The course is being held at The Mortimer Arms, Romsey Road, Ower,
Hampshire SO51 6AF.
