Naramata Water Advisory Committee
NWAC plans future developments of the Community
Water System in conjunction with the Regional District of
Okanagan Similkameen. NWAC liaises with the
community regarding issues pertaining to the water

Naramata Parks & Recreation Commission
Parks & Rec oversees community parks and runs a

Naramata Fire & Rescue
The NFD provides public fire prevention education,
structural and interface firefighting, first medical
response, emergency marine response/rescue, motor vehicle accident response/rescue, regular member training
and equipment maintenance. “If you’re 19 years or older,
and willing to serve your community as a firefighter, then
we are looking for you. If you have the time to dedicate
to your community we’d love to have you.”

Naramata & Electoral Area E APC
The Advisory Planning Commission considers proposed
land use bylaws or permits that are referred to it by the
RDOS board or area director.
Meetings of the APC are open to the public and if the
commission is considering an amendment to a plan,
bylaw, or permit, the applicant is entitled to attend the
meeting and to be heard.
APCs are advisory and they
do not have any direct approval, ownership, or authority
over matters that are referred to it.
Electoral Area E’s APC usually meets the second Monday
of the month at the OAP Hall, Ritchie and Third Street,
beside the library. Contact RDOS Director.

COMMUNITY GROUPS
Naramata School Parent Advisory Council
PAC supports, encourages and improves the quality
of students’ education and experiences by involving
parents and guardians in planning and volunteering at
parent sponsored events; encouraging and facilitating
parent/guardian support for school and classroom based
activities throughout the school year; and securing
funding for special equipment, supplies, or special
projects to enhance the quality of the students’
experiences at our school. Please contact the school at

Naramata Playschool
The Playschool offers arts and crafts, free play, movement
and music to children aged 3-5. For more, please call

Naramata OAP
The OAP Friendship Club is an active organization for
those aged 50+ in Naramata. There are two social get
togethers each month and one always includes a
dinner. Some of our members meet at the hall at Ritchie
and Third Street each weekday morning for a coffee and

would like to join us or if you require more information.
Naramata Community Market
June to September, Wednesdays, 3:30 to 6:30 PM at Wharf
Park. Local food, artisans and sometimes live music add

This group is active in upgrading the public moorage

Naramata Friends of the Library
We encourage literacy and reading enjoyment through
use of the library and similar resources, and are committed to the ongoing enhancement and use of the local
Library. We meet once a month to discuss projects and

used books at the August Faire. We welcome new

projects and local bursaries.

Naramata Seniors Housing Society
We operate non-profit housing for seniors. Volunteers are
always welcome.
Naramata Community Fund Society
The NCFS is active in several areas: assistance for
residents with temporary financial hardship, including
the ‘Blackwell property tax levy’; high school bursaries
and scholarships; coordination of the May Day Soap Box
Derby; staging the Farm Workers Recognition Dinner, etc.
Donations are always welcome and, as a registered

Naramata Community Garden Society
The community garden is a co-operative venture between
the community, School District 67 and the Naramata
Elementary School. The Society administers the site and
with generous donations of time, labour and materials, a
fenced area, raised beds, picnic tables and a garden shed
arose in a barren space that had been a former graveled
roadway. Local residents are invited to join and to work
a garden plot. Four beds are designated for use by the

Naramata Community Church Women’s Group
Monthly meetings of women for the purpose of
fellowship, learning and the planning and
implementation of fundraising activities. Regular
fundraisers include a Spring and a Christmas Tea and
marmalade made by the NCCWG Marmaladies. Monthly
meetings are held at the Naramata Community Church
Hall. We welcome new members who wish to make a
contribution to the Naramata community. It is not necessary to be an active member of the Church.
Naramata Community Church
Naramata Community Church is a shared ministry of the
Anglican and United Churches. Worship each Sunday at
10:00 a.m. The minister and community is available for
Weddings, Baptisms and Funerals. We enjoy welcoming
the community to events through the year such as
various church dinners, dances, yard sale, Christmas
events, etc. Our beautiful church hall is available for

Naramata Arts Studio
Displays of our work can be found in the Naramata
Heritage Inn & Spa, the Naramata Library and Lang
Vineyards. We take part in the Naramata August Faire,
setting up tents of original artwork by our members.
As well, in conjunction with the Fall Wine Festival, we
hold our Exhibition and Sale at Naramata Community
Church. Group members meet weekly to paint and create
at the Naramata Elementary School from September to
June. During the summer months, we meet and plein aire
paint out-of-doors. We encourage anyone who enjoys

Naramata Community Choir
Established in 1962 by Carol McGibney, NCC is an
auditioned, mixed voice choir of about 50 singers.
Weekly rehearsals September through May generally, in
Naramata and Penticton, and a number of performances,
including the annual Christmas program in partnership
with the Naramata Community Church held at Naramata
Centre in December. Come to our events and enjoy some
wonderful choral music in a wide range of styles. Want

Forums for Discussion
The NCA holds Community Symposia and
Townhall Meetings from time to time. The
past three symposia have been a great way
to profile all the active community groups in Naramata in an open
house format. Townhall meetings called by the NCA have been
important forums for dialogue on pertinent Naramata issues.

For 24 years, the NCA’s creek
committee has offered Naramata the opportunity to protect

maintenance of the Naramata Creek kokanee spawning beds, its
