my formation to serve as
a Catholic Priest I was sent
to this community for a
year of pastoral service.

by Archbishop Gomez
to continue the journey
toward the priesthood and
to be ordained as a Transitional Deacon on August
13, 2016 at 9:00am in the Cathedral of Our Lady
of the Angels in Los Angeles. Please join me and
eight of my classmates at this beautiful, spirit filled
celebration. I will serve my first Mass at St. Andrew
as a deacon on Sunday, August 21 at the 9:30am
Mass.

Pre-K program will encompass a variety of
readiness experiences to foster and promote

I am overwhelmed by the amount of support and generosity
you have shown our youth ministry program this past
weekend. The second collection we hosted was in support
of our upcoming City of Saints Conference. We are sending
13 girls to UCLA to share in a weekend of liturgy, music,
and sainthood. The total cost we needed to cover the
registration, food and housing for the weekend was $2,400.
We not only met our goal but we surpassed it and brought
in close to $3,800! We plan on investing the additional
funds to support the Life Teen component of our program.
The amount of love and support this second collection has
shown is so inspiring as the leader of this ministry. I am
passionate about our teens and the importance of their
involvement with the Church. Our teens are the future
leaders of our community, our ministry’s and our Church.
Their journey with Christ is personal but when done in a
community that supports the many opportunities to deepen
that relationship is truly special. I thank you all for seeing the
importance of investing in our youth and reaffirming their
place in the Church and in our home of St. Andrew.
Thank you and I look forward to sharing with all of you the
fruits of this wonderful experience.

Religious Education News
Registration applications for our 2016-2017 First Communion classes are now
available online and at the Pastoral Center.
Tuition: First Year $85 • Second Year $110
Rates include bilingual class book, bilingual prayer book, all class supplies and
end of year retreat with no additional sacramental fees. We are also accepting
applications for any interested catechist volunteers.
BE A LIGHT IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD. COME JOIN US!!!
Over 350 students, 1st through 8th, will sign up this fall to learn more about
Jesus and the Catholic faith. You can help them learn and grow by becoming
a catechist for First Communion Faith Formation. With classes offered Saturday
mornings and Monday and Tuesday evenings, you are almost sure to find a time
that fits your schedule. As you nurture the faith of our young, you will learn and
grow as well. Classes begin September 10th.

Ya empezaron las inscripciones para el Año
Escolar 2016-2017
Ahora estamos aceptando alumnos para el año escolar
2016-2017. La escuela Católica de San Andres se
complace en ofrecer el lugar perfecto para los niños de
3 y 4 años de edad para crecer, jugar, reír y aprender.
Nuestro programa de Pre-Kinder abarcará una variedad de
experiencias de preparación para fomentar y promover el
desarrollo social, emocional, espiritual, físico e intelectual
de los niños pequeños.

City of Saints
Estimados Feligreses,
Estoy muy emocionada por la cantidad de apoyo
y la generosidad que le han mostrado a nuestro
ministerio juvenil este fin de semana pasado. La
segunda colecta que tuvimos fue en apoyo a
nuestra próxima Conferencia de City of Saints.
Estaremos enviando 13 niñas a UCLA para
compartir un fin de semana de liturgia, música
y de santidad. El costo total que necesitábamos
para cubrir el registro, la alimentación y la
vivienda para el fin de semana era un total de
$2,400. No sólo logramos nuestra meta, pero
la superamos y recaudamos $3,800! Estamos
pensando en invertir los fondos adicionales
en apoyar a nuestro componente Life Teen de
nuestro programa de Confirmación.
La cantidad de amor y apoyo que nos brindaron
en esta segunda colecta ha sido inspiradora
para mi siendo la líder de este ministerio. Soy
muy entusiasmada cuando se trata de nuestros
adolescentes y la importancia de su participación
en la Iglesia. Nuestros adolescentes son los
futuros líderes de nuestra comunidad, nuestro
ministerio y de nuestra Iglesia. Su viaje con
Cristo es personal, pero cuando se hace a
través de una comunidad que los apoya y les
dan muchas oportunidades para profundizar
esa relación, es verdaderamente especial.
Muchas gracias a todos por ver la importancia
de invertir en nuestra juventud y dándoles un
lugar en la Iglesia y en nuestra casa, San Andrés.
Gracias y espero poder compartir con
todos ustedes los frutos de esta maravillosa
experiencia.

Pastoral.
