2016 Projects
OUR MISSION
The Leawood Foundation funds cultural and educational amenities in our
community that might not otherwise be funded with tax dollars.
When children with disabilities are left out because of their challenges, it hurts. Imagine the
" boost
in confidence when they can participate on a playground and experience the same joy as
all of our other children. An accessible playground is a gift that is filled with this joy. "

PROMOTE INCLUSIVENESS & SAFETY
Build "Play for All"
This is the Leawood Foundation’s 2015/2016 major focus:
Build an inclusive, state of the art play area for children of all abilities in
City Park. A truly inclusive and embracing play experience encompasses
individual play elements as well as the overall playground environmental
design. It will address the developmental needs of the whole child
by intentionally providing opportunities for Physical, Cognitive,
Communicative, Social/Emotional, and Sensory Development. Also,
accessible playgrounds are vital for kids and youth with disabilities, to enable
multi-generational interaction and play. It is essential for families to have the
opportunity to play and recreate together.
DONATION GOAL $200,000
The Leawood Foundation will match the first
$25,000 in donations to this project.
BEAUTIFY PARKS/PUBLIC AREAS
Enhance "LEAWOOF" Dog Park
Provide the new Dog Park adjacent to City Park with sheltered seating
areas for Leawood's canines and their masters.
DONATION GOAL $10,000
COMPLETED PROJECTS
Gezer Park Fire Pit, Havdalah Garden, and Play Area;
Ironwoods Park Benches and Prairie Lessons Sculpture;
Historic Oxford One-Room Schoolhouse relocation.
