2012 Annual Report Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Dear Friends of the Museum, I have the distinct pleasure of presenting the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History’s 2012 Annual Report. The 2012 year was a time of significant transition for the Museum – long serving Executive Director Karl Hutterer retired at yearend and I was honored to be asked by the Board to accept this position and the opportunity to steer the Museum into its second century. In my first months here, I have had the occasion to meet many of you, the Museum’s friends and supporters, whose generosity advances our mission both at our Mission Canyon Campus and at the Ty Warner Sea Center. I have been struck, time and again, by your and the community’s deep commitment to the Museum. Each year, this institution educates and engages thousands of local residents and out of town visitors alike – inspiring each and every one of us learn to live more lightly and respectfully on this fragile planet we share as home.
