FREESTYLE COMPARISON
Analysis Comparison
Q UICKIE FREESTYLE M11 & F11
I N VA CARE M71/M19 PRIDE
Good
Has all wheel suspension that smooths out surface bumps and shocks when climbing obstacles.
This provides a more comfortable ride for the enduser. Additionally, the Quickie Freestyle allows
adjustment or tuning of the suspension system to
the user's unique requirements.
Poor
The Invacare M71 and M91 have no drive
wheel suspension at all. There is a tension
spring designed to allow the rear caster assembly to pivot, but this provides no real shock
absorbsion for the user.
Fair
The front anti-tips do have a spring on them,
but the drive wheels on both the 1113 and
1121 have minimal shock absorption. No
adjustment is provided on the Pride suspension system.
6 W heel Design
Good
6-wheel constant contact system (4 casters and
2 drive wheels) increase the stability of the base
when descending down declines and overcoming
obstacles. Also provides added stability when
ingressing and egressing from the chair.
Good
The M71/M91 also use a 6-wheel constant contact system to much the same effect as the
Quickie Freestyle.
Poor
The Pride 1113 and the 1121 both use front
anti-tips that are positioned off of the ground.
These devices allow the chair (and user) to
pitch forward when descending an incline or
decelerating.
Center Drive
W heel
Good
Location of the drive wheel is in alignment with
the central axis of the user. This ensures that the
turning center of the chair is aligned with the natural turning center of the user. This makes operation of the chair natural and intuitive for the user.
Good
Both the M71 and M91 use a similar center
wheel design as the Quickie Freestyle.
Poor
Both the Pride 1113 and the 1121 utilize a front
bias to the drive wheel location. This move
the turning center of the chair more forward
than the central axis of the user. This means
that the user will experience significant translation when executing turns. This makes operation of the chair less intuitive and natural.
Shrouds
Good
The Quickie Freestyle uses easy mounting colored shrouds that can be replaced and interchanged very quickly and no tools required. In
fact, each base comes with all four colored
shrouds, removing the necessity of having to
choose the color of the chair at the time of order.
Poor
The Invacare M71 and M91 ships with a single
colored shroud that is difficult to remove when
serivce is required.
Fair
The Pride 1113 and 1121 ship with single colored shrouds. However, the shrouds are relatively easy to remove once the shroud has
been removed.
Good
The P&G VSI integral controller provides 5 distinct drive profiles or 5 distinct speed levels.
Power seat actuation can be done though the
VSI. Also provides a 10 segment battery display.
Poor
The Invacare RII standard controller provides
only a single drive profile and one tri-colored
LED for battery level display
Good
The on-board battery charger used on the Quickie
Freestyle has a convenient plug location, one the
user can access while seated in the chair.
Additionally, the 8 A on-board charger on the F11
provides full charge from depletion in 8 hours.
Poor
The charger location is less easily accessed by
the user and the 5 A on-board charger will not
charge as quickly as the 8 A Freestyle charger.
Poor
Location of the plug for the on-board charger
is at the rear of the chair making access by
the user while seated in the chair difficult.
Additionally, the 5 A charger used on the 1121
will not charge batteries as quickly as the 8A
charger used on the F11
Good
The M11 allows for a larger 40Ahr battery rather
than the standard U1 battery providing 25% more
range than competitive products. The F11
accommodates Gp24 batteries instead of the
standard 22NF, again providing increased range.
Poor
The M71 will only accommodate U1 battery size
while the M91 will only accommodate the 22NF
battery size.
Poor
The 1113 will only accommodate U1 battery
size while the 1121 will only accommodate
the 22NF battery size.
Good
Provided as standard is the high-back comfort
seat complete with user recline adjustment and
head rest.
Fair
Standard with the low back seat.
Fair
Standard with the low back seat and no user
recline adjustment.
HA Arm rests
Good
Provides an easily adjustable (by the user) means
of adjusting the height of the armrest - similar to
an office style seat.
Poor
Tube in tube style height adjustment that
requires tools to adjust the height.
Poor
Tube in tube style height adjustment that
requires tools to adjust the height.
S e at to
Floor Heights
Good
The lowest seat to floor height measurements
available on this type of product in the market.
Also the largest range of seat heights available.
Poor
2"" - 2.5"" higher seat to floor heights on the
M71 than on the Freestyle and with a
smaller range of adjustment.
Poor
2"" - 2.5"" higher seat to floor heights on the
Jazzy than on the Freestyle.
