When I go o u t s i d e to play I say to m y s e l f "Spring is c o m i n g " .
I can tell because t h e r e are f l o w e r s coining up, but not q u i t e .
Lambs skip a b o u t w i t h joy, w i t h t h e i r tails wiggling about with

Z G r e l d a C r a s c a l l , aged 9 y e a r s .
Spring is coming. SHOW is going. The wind comes. Snowdrops are
b u d d i n g ; d a f f o d i l s , p r i m r o s e s and t u l i p s are coming . The lambs

dogs to see the laii'bs; lambs are f u r r y , w i t h deep blue eyes.
The dor runs a b o u t in the g r e e n i rass. The f l o w e r s are c o m i n g

PETTI'.VARB H A I, I. FI' T AT T CES
The Pettiward Hall is a valuable community asset a.nd is well
used by a number of -village orr anisations and individuals who
pay hiring fees aocordinp to a scale which is revised from
time to time. The Pettiward Hall Management Committee at the
time of setting the rates, always take into account the importance of supporting village activities. Consequently they attempt
to select rates which will not cause financial embarrassment
to the organisations or individuals. This policy moans that
the hirin,'- fees collected during the year are about f?00 lees
than the Hall's running expenses. The defecit must be made up
from fund raising activities, and demonstrates the importance
of supporting the efforts of a relatively small proup of
dedicated people who rofularly organise events, please recognise
their efforts in keeping the Hall available to us by supporting
them at future events.
The Committee has been pursuing a policy of improvements to the
Hall to make it more attractive. These are funded by sources
independent of the day-to-day finances. The money for the
improvements comes froa two prants. The first provided by the
Parish Council who levy a parish rate specifically for this
purpose. Part of this ;'Vant t o e s to repaying a loan negotiated
with the national Association of Villaf e Halls. The second was
a "one-off frant from I/'id Suffolk District Council.
Already two toilets have been provided and the Hall redecorated.
Work is currently taking place on a bar and serving area and
piano are in 5iand to provide curtains for the sta; e and access
from the I.'ain Ilall to the lower room. V/hilct the main items
have been carried out professionally, we have been fortunate
in receiving assistance from the Probation Service and
individuals in the parish which has enabled us to stretch
our limited resources.
