‘Tree’mendous
Headteacher’s Letter
Decorations!
Congratulations to the Fulbrook pupils who entered two
local Christmas Tree Decoration Competitions. Lucy Cox,
6JB, won the Woburn Sands
first prize and was asked to
switch on the Christmas Lights!
All the Fulbrook entries can be
seen hanging in the window of
the ‘Sweet Pea’ shop in the
High Street. Other Fulbrook
pupils entered the Aspley
Guise competition and their
decorations were hung on the
tree in ‘The Anchor’ Pub’s garden. Well done to Emma Jenkins, 6AMc, Millie Lavis, 6EM
and William Andrews, 5AB,
who were among the top prize
winners. Each will receive a
voucher for the Ice Rink at
Frosts Garden Centre, who
kindly donated the prizes.

Sands’ High Street.
Dear Parents,
What a fantastic term we have
all had here at Fulbrook! My impression is that this has been
the best term in the last seven
years that I have been Headteacher.
The children’s attitude, effort
and behaviour has been outstanding. The staff have really
enjoyed this term. It’s been hard
work moving to a six-period day
but it has been very successful.
Looking through the school diary
I am amazed by how many activities and experiences beyond
the school curriculum the children have been involved in. As I
write this I am watching the
dress rehearsal of one of four
end of term productions we are
staging. I hope your son or
daughter enjoyed taking part in
these. My thanks to all the staff
for organising these events and
to all the parents for supporting
them.
I am pleased to welcome to Fulbrook four new members of
staff: Mr Stevenson and Mrs
Jamieson as new LSAs, Mrs
Masters, specialist additional
intervention tutor and Miss Parsons, KS2 Science tutor and
new form tutor of 6JB. We also
say thank you to Mrs Butter for
teaching Science and Maths this
term. We appreciate your hard
work.
On behalf of the staff and governors, may I wish everyone a
Happy Christmas and an enjoyable New Year. I look forward to
welcoming the children back for
the new term on Wednesday,
4th January 2012.

Christmas Card
Competition
Congratulations to the winners
of the Christmas card competition (below): Moyo Adebayo
5JP, Chanelle France 6JB,
Hattie Rowland 5JP, Megan
Scott Hughes 6JB and Katie
Westlake-Triton 6CS .
Each child received a present
from the Editor of Christian
News, Angela Price, in assembly and have had their design
printed on the cover of the
Christmas edition of the magazine. Also well done and thank
you to Lucy Cox, 6JB, for allowing your card featuring Fulbrook to be used as our school
Christmas card this year.
Payments to School
Homework Club
Homework Club runs in the
Library on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday lunch-time
from 1pm. Please use our
resources to complete your
homework tasks or you may
read during this period.
Homework Club is busier
during the colder months so
please remember to book
your place with Miss Brewster at break-time. You’ll find
her in the Library Office.
Thank you.
School Lunches
The cost for next half-term is
£ 56.00 (28 days at £2).
Please enclose your payment in an envelope that is
clearly marked with your
child’s details. All cheques
are payable to ‘Eden Foodservice’ with your cheque
card details on the reverse,
to include: cheque guarantee number, valid from & expiry dates, pupil’s name,
form and home address.
Places Available
Despite being a school in
which pupils are happy and
achieve their personal best, it
is often a battle for Fulbrook to
keep its classrooms full. We
currently have places available
to take children into each year
and we would appreciate your
help in promoting the school.
Enclosed with this newsletter
are two leaflets. Please take
them to work or hand them to
someone who you know may
benefit from an education here.
Thank you for your support.
More and more families are
using the ParentMail PlusPay payment system and
we hope that you feel the
initial challenge of logging
on has proved worthwhile.
Please be advised that there
are two main ‘stumbling’ areas to overcome to log on
successfully and without
complication!

Immaculate
Reception
The new Reception desk is suitably
decorated for Christmas.
If first impressions are truly
lasting ones, then hopefully
our new reception area will
impress our pupils and visitors coming into school. We
are pleased that the PTA
have helped us to cover part
of the cost for this area and
also contributed a larger
sum for a major project being undertaken in the Library. Here we have created
a new ‘small-group’ learning
and meeting room and redesigned the shelving and
computer facilities within the
Library. A new suspended
ceiling and light fittings are
almost complete. Thank you
again to our dedicated PTA
team for their hard work and
the free time they all give to
provide funding for such
projects. Pupils for years to
come will benefit from these
changes.
The Library has a new ceiling
fitted and an additional wall created by the ‘mini’ classroom as
work continues.
KS3 Enrichment News
(Oh No It Isn’t!)
Our KS3 pupils in Years
7 and 8 have completed
their first full term of our
new ‘Enrichment’ programme and the results
and feedback have been
full of positivity from pupils and staff. The Drama
Group, ably assisted by
Mr Smith and Mrs Goodwin, put on a witty, musically-based, ‘Fulbrook X
Factor’ Panto.
Mrs Ward’s ‘Master Chefs’
held a Christmas Tree Biscuit Decoration competition at the end of term
which Mr Cardwell was
keen to judge! Each pupil
entered their best decoration into the competition
and congratulations go to
Sophie Grummit, 7GR for
her marshmallow, snowman and gold-balled,
de co ra ted
Ch ristma s
stocking biscuit. We are
sure that it will taste as
good as it looks, Sophie.
Well done! In addition,
some pupils experienced
skiing at the ‘Snowdome’
in Milton Keynes and others have enjoyed Art, GerThe singing, dancing panto charac- man Language learning

ties. Next term the activities will rotate to allow as
many pupils as possible to
experience these additional enrichment experiences.
The whole school enjoyed participating and
singing along to the
show. The judges took on
the personas of Louis,
Simon, Gary and Kelly
(did no one fancy being
Tulisa?) and the Fulbrook
versions were certainly
more fearsome than
those we see on a Saturday night show! Forget
‘Little Mix’, our performers are the real winners.
Congratulations to all for
a super production.

decoration as the winner from the
fine selection below.
Close Shave Ends
With No Injuries!
It’s always good to try a new
look but ‘Fulbrook’s Fellows’
happily shaved off their
moustaches during a memorable assembly last week. Mr
Cardwell bravely allowed
Kobby Eshun to start off proceedings by letting the Year
5 pupil shave off his moustache! We are pleased to
confirm that no Headteachers were injured during this
assembly!

A Christmas Thought….
Kobby Eshun, 5JP, gleefully tackles a
very hairy situation—particularly for a
nervous looking Mr Cardwell!
We did notice that Mr Durno
shaved his moustache off
and into a recycling bin—
could he be planning a new
‘Wayne Rooney Look’ for the
New Year? A magnificent
£353 was donated during the
month and all proceeds have
been sent to the ‘Movember’
charities. Thank you to the
pupils who entered the ‘Find
the Moustache’ competition
and for helping the school to
raise this total.
Every year at Christmas our
school is filled with excitement
and special activities as we all
prepare to spend Christmas
and New Year at home. For
some families however, Christmas may have changed, with
the loss of a Mum, Dad, Brother
or Sister in recent times or with
the change brought on by a
family’s separation. Recently,
Lynda Clark, Headteacher at
Ridgmont, died; she will have
been known by many families
and pupils here. This Christmas
you may wish to choose a light
or special decoration on your
own Christmas tree at home
and have a moment to think of
our extended ’Fulbrook Family’
as we send them all our love.
Thank you.
‘SuperStill’
Well done chaps—fine moustaches.
Not sure why Mr Wareham’s there? (!)
Achievement
Zach Still, 6CS, and his family
raised £500 for Diabetes UK
when they were sponsored to
walk over as many London
Thames bridges as possible in
a day. They walked a very long
way and achieved 12 in total!

Sporting News
This half term has seen some
brilliant sporting action! Fulbrook have been crowned
Partnership Champions in
Years 5 and 6 for Sportshall
Athletics and Table Tennis.
The Year 7 and 8 boys have
also won their Table Tennis
Competition. Congratulations
to all the pupils that have represented the school so far this
year.
In addition, House Matches are
well underway this year. Football has been the duel of
choice and the battle between
the houses has well and truly
begun. Ninety seven pupils
have taken part in the interhouse competition to date—a
staggering number I’m sure
you’ll agree. With three wins,
Sapphire currently lead, with
Ruby and Emerald joint second
having won two each.
