*Per 100 million miles with 2006 estimated.
**In millions with 2007 mileage estimated. Mileage estimated from 1997-2001 was calculated using gasoline consumption; starting in 2002, annual vehicle
miles of travel will be based on vehicle count using a program developed by the Virginia Department of Transportation's Traffic Monitoring System.
***Determined using medical examiner data in addition to police reports.

determined using available medical examiner’s data as well as the
police report. The term “alcohol-related” does not imply that drinking
was the direct cause of the traffic crash.
*This includes the category of all drivers and all pedestrians killed or injured in
crashes (alcohol-related or non-alcohol-related).
