volleyball teams compete every year for the
title of ­European Champion. The multiple
day events are generally held from May to
August, with the Final attracting an
­audience of over 75,000.

Spirit of the sport and the competition
With two teams of two players each, beach volleyball is a fast and
exciting game, played outside on a sand court. Originating in
Southern California (USA), beach volleyball has achieved worldwide
popularity. In Europe, it receives high levels of media coverage with
the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV) Beach Volleyball
European Championships events taking place every year.
The 2015 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championships will
consist of at least three Masters events and one Final. Men’s and
women’s teams from all across Europe will compete for the title of
European Champion. Each event is several days long and regularly
attracts large crowds of onsite spectators.

included Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy,
Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, and

Background Appeal
In addition to distributing the international
media rights for the CEV Beach Volleyball
European Championships, Infront Sports &
Media also distributes media rights for CEV
Beach Volleyball Continental Cup Finals in
2016 and 2020 – the decisive qualifying
­competitions for the Olympic Games in the
respective years. Since 1993, the company
has handled the marketing of the worldwide
multimedia rights of the biennial CEV
European Championships and has a long
term agreement through to 2021.
The TV production is composed of at least
five cameras for the Masters and up to
eight cameras for the Final. The total
matches produced include at least eight per
tournament per gender, including
­quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.
Beach volleyball gained popularity in
Europe in the 1930s, and has been an
Olympic sport since 1996. During the last
Olympic Games, beach volleyball was one of
the most popular sports and continues to
gain in appeal.

broadcast in collaboration with the chosen
networks in each host country.
