Vacation and the use of Sick Leave
As the holiday season is upon us, this is a friendly reminder
on vacation and the use of sick leave. Florida statute is very
clear that sick leave can only be used for illness. When
taking vacation leave you must use vacation days. Vacation
leave is to be submitted to your supervisor for approval prior
to taking your leave for vacation. Employees do receive 6
personal days and those are to be used for exactly what the
phrase states “personal days”. If you do not have sufficient
vacation time you cannot use sick leave to cover your
vacation.
