The Seattle to Portland Classic 2016

GWTA acts as escorts throughout the STP route to assist bicyclists as needed.
This event is a money maker for Washington State GWTA, plus each Chapter
receives a percentage based on participation. Our route starts at the beginning
at the University of Washington, takes the first leg to REI in Renton. Then, on
Sunday, we move to Castle Rock. Camping is available at the Castle Rock
High school, and motels are nearby. BOOK YOUR MOTEL ROOM NOW as
the bicyclists are also using this as a midway point. Saturday starts at 4:30 am
until about 11:00 am. Sunday starts at 6:00 am until about noon. You can volunteer for Saturday only, or both days. Contact Darlene and Chuck at 360-6581311 ([email protected]) or Carl and Kathy at 206-930-4990/206-9404990 ([email protected]/[email protected]) for more info.

The Emperor’s New Notes

Well, are we tried of the rain yet? I sure am! Just a little trivia: From December 1, 2015 to the
end of February 2016, we set an all-time record rain fall of 23 ½ inches!!
Our Chapter visitation to other chapters seems to be paying off. We are getting quite a few
Wing Washington registrations from each visitation. Sunday, February 28th, Carl and Kathy
will be heading up to Burlington to GWTA Chapter S meeting. They would love some company! Thanks so much to those that have been making those visits and getting folks to sign up
for our fund raiser.
At our next general meeting, March 5th, we will be passing the hat one more time and asking
for cash donations for the NW Wings Drill Team Auction. We will be presenting them with the cash prize that
evening.
On Saturday, March 12th, Mike M. and I will be going to the GWTA State Officers Meeting in Leavenworth. If
you have any concerns or questions you would like us to bring up, please email us before the 12th.
Tuesday, March 15th, is our semi-monthly planning meeting at 6:00 pm. I would like to encourage you to try
and make the meeting to give your input into the direction we take our great chapter.
Saturday, March 19th, is the only Green Freeze this year. We will be meeting up at the Park n Ride on 128th,
west of I-5 at 8:15 and departing at 8:30 am sharp. On 2 or 3 wheels if the weather is nice, and if the weather is not so nice, 4 wheels. Registration starts at 9:00 am. We’ll get down there around 9:30. This has always
been such a fun time!

Rootin’ and Tootin’ Chapter C Shootin’
West Coast Armory loves Chapter C, and we love them! It was a fun evening of target shooting on February 12 with roughly a dozen Chapter C members trying their hand at hitting their marks. Who had the
owie...again...Mike M. pinched his finger for the second year in a row, and drew blood. Thank goodness he
has supervision 24/7!

Minutes—Ch C Planning Meeting January 16, 2016
Attending: Mike Green, Mike Migliore, Mark & Brenda Waterman, Mike & Deanna Waters, Carl & Kathy Leon, Lane & Shelley Roehl, Jerry Weltner Mike Leibold
Meeting called to order @ 5:58 pm
A motion was made and seconded to approve the November 2015 minutes. All were in favor.
The donation from the 2015 Wing Washington net proceeds will be made at the September 2016 Ride for
Kids event.
Treasury changeover still needs to happen with Carl, Mike G. & Mike M. Carl will coordinate the changeover, which was set to occur on January 22 at the Mill Creek branch of Union Bank.
No treasurer’s report was submitted, but there is a $72 shortfall that needs to be researched.
The website domain name expires at the end of January and the cost is $13.39 per year. There was approval for standard authorization to pay for this without chapter discussion. A motion was made and seconded to approve paying for 3 years of domain name membership at one time. All were in favor.
Wing Washington: A committee will be formed. Mike G. will ask for volunteers at the February General
Meeting. Help is heeded with prizes, banquet coordination, publicity, and site selection volunteers. Kathy
will be the point person for registration and Carl for creation of the site list. Chapter visitations are going
well, and more visits will be publicized for February and March.
Mike and Deanna will provide two options for members to choose from at the general meetings for our every-other-month dinner rides. The time of the dinner will change to 6:00 pm.
Shelley needs newsletter articles by January 27 for the February Blue Crew News. The newsletter will report on past Chapter events, and provide a broad overview of future events. The C-Notes will provide updates about events on the short-term horizon.
Carl volunteered to continue updating the Chapter directory. Thank you Carl. He asked that Mike G. forward
to him any rosters sent by State.
Mike M. will call members who need to renew their GWTA memberships.
Carl is looking for the final Treasurer’s Policy that was discussed in 2015. Carl will circulate the draft, and
ask for changes, then we will discuss at our next Planning Meeting.
Mike G. will call to make sure the NW Wings are holding an auction in March. If so, we will pass the hat in
February and March asking for donations.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn at 7:12 pm. All were in favor.
