Senior Projects
Seniors have received the guidelines for both
a project and portfolio that is required for
graduation. The Performance Based Senior
Project is a presentation of the PB Senior
Portfolio. The graduation portfolio is comprised of
three folios (Career Readiness, Democratic Citizenship and Skills for
Lifelong Learning). The portfolio is to be on display March 22nd at the
Performance Night Out. The senior project is scheduled for
presentation on April 27th. In collaboration with their teachers and PAC
advisors, students are working towards these deadlines to fulfill this
obligation.

My experience at Lima Senior so far has been
challenging but also rewarding in many ways. There
are many students who want to learn and demonstrate
their learning, and my job has been to create an
atmosphere that will help them do that.

PORTFOLIO • ADVOCACY • COMMUNITY
Performance Base School PAC classes have been active the first half
of the year.
The students have been visited by guest speakers and have shown
great involvement with our numerous fund-raisers over the holiday season. Here are
some of our most memorable moments in 2005.
tKaren Grothaus from Spherion visited the juniors and seniors in September to talk
about readiness for the workforce. She gave great advice on job interviewing and
proper dress to help our students in the future.
tDesmond Bufford from University of Findlay talked to the students about “respect”.
Mr. Bufford teaches courses on African American cultures at the university and is the
Director of the Office of Diversity populations.
Dodge ball game for
Hurricane Katrina
Karen Grothaus of
Spherion
tMr. Dennis Ward from the Red Cross visited after
Hurricane Katrina and expressed how the students can help. One of the
activities the students were involved in was a dodge ball game against
the teachers. Miss Hampton’s PAC class organized the event by
charging students $2.00 per student to be able to participate in the
activity. The money that was raised from the dodge ball game went
together with the money drive being held throughout all of Lima Senior.
The amount of money that the students raised exceeded over $1,457
for the hurricane Katrina victims.
tMichael Shepherd, owner of Michaelangelo’s Pizza of Kenton,
demonstrated his championship pizza crust tossing skills in December.
He is one of 6 people on the 5 time World Pizza Tossing Championship Team which has been to Italy,
appeared on the Tonight Show, Food Network, and CNN just to name a few. He emphasized to the
students the need to practice and have the attitude that you never give up. He had students come
down and try some of the juggling of the pizza. He showed the students where perseverance can
help you achieve anything. Great fun!
tThe Holiday Season always shows the students at their giving high. Miss
Penn and Mrs. Baumgarte’s PAC led the way with a food drive. Miss
Hampton’s class organized a Performance Based Talent Show. Students
auditioned after school and then students paid $2.00 to miss their afternoon
classes to be able to watch the excellent talent of our students. The money
raised at the talent went to the Toys for Tots. Mrs. Bader’s junior Graphic
Communications class designed and printed their own coloring book for the
Lima Community Health Center. Way to go!

The PLAN for your future
By Jon Carver
I would like to go out to the people regarding the
PLAN TEST that sophomores took this October. It
is that of the students who scored well on the
Plan test or received between an 21-25 on the
ACT (as predicted by plan test results) 100% of
them passed all 5 parts of their OGT tests in
March. This makes the PLAN TEST a good
“indicator” of how well some students will do not
only the ACT, but also the Ohio Graduation Tests
in the spring. For the students that did not do well
on the Plan test you are encouraged to focus on
your studies and attend tutorial if needed.

OGT TESTS: March 13-17
Teachers available for Tutorial
All of the teachers are available for additional
assistance for any student during tutorial time
after school. Core subject teachers have practice
tests available for students to prepare themselves
for the upcoming tests. Teachers invite all
students to attend and expand their knowledge in
that subject area.
