December 2015
Assisted Living - Employee of the Month
The resident council was
excited to be able to select
Sherry for “Employee of the
Month.” She has worn many
hats in our community and
now, as you can see, a chef’s
hat. The residents love seeing
her personal touch with the designs she makes with the
garnishments. Thank you, Sherry, for all you do.
Happy Holidays From the Desk of
Debbie Wilson, Executive Director
A year and half ago, I came to work at Pacific
View and my husband and I joined the Bandon
Community. In May my grandma, who was 94,
joined us here in our memory care. I have never
lived by my grandmother, and what a treat it
has been. My parents joined my husband and
me in August of this year, moving from Salt
Lake City, Utah. I can’t thank Pacific View staff,
residents and families for the open arms and
support they have given me. Pacific View on
December 1st will be 2 years old, and we can’t
thank Season’s Management for all the
wonderful support and beautiful new things
they have supported us in getting here in the last
year. When you have a happy, fun and learning
environment, your home will always feel like
home. The holidays are such a wonderful time,
so please come and join us for all the wonderful
opportunities we have going in December.
Thank you again and Happy Holidays!

TRUE STORY
Where do I begin ... Over the
past few months, there have
been several changes, and who
likes changes? Well, I will tell
you the residents like the
changes and the staff likes the
changes.
Sometimes it takes a little
while to fit all the pieces
together to get a team running
smoothly. And when that
happens, not only does it run
smoothly, but it can then get
creative and it starts being fun
and this amazing transformation
affects the residents and fellow
staff members.
The food has improved to the
point where you hear residents
talking about it and they have
smiles on their faces. The fun
edible decorations that show up
on the plates have been such
a treat.
Now, we don’t want to leave
out the fun that is in the dining
room these days. Over the
Halloween week, the dining staff
dressed up every day to add
some fun to the week.
We just want to say hats off to
the entire kitchen team for all
you do—for how far you have
come—and we can’t wait to see
what new exciting things happen
in the months to come.
We are going to be having a
fun Christmas Party on
December 17th from 2:00 4:00. Please feel free to invite
your family to join us for this
day of fun.
We will be having
refreshments: Sparkling
beverages and yummy
Christmas goodies. If you would
like to add to the goodies, please
get with Lorinda or just bring
your favorite treat.
Robin (The Elf) O’Neill will
be here to add some fun and
craziness to the happenings. If
you would like to add a special
ornament to the tree, please feel
free to do so on this day.
We will be taking fun
Christmas pictures—singles,
groups or family. Come help
Lorinda build the fireplace again
for your Christmas pictures.
The Veterans here at Pacific View were
invited to our local VFW for a BBQ on
Veterans Day. The VFW greeted and
treated the residents so awesomely.
Several vets came around and talked
about the wars and thanked each other for
their service. It was such a great day.
Halloween was a spooktacular success.
There were twice as many goblins as last
year. Robin & John came to entertain the
visitors and residents with spooky & fun
music. The kitchen made treats for the
grown-ups as well.
DECORATING CONTEST
Lunch & Prize for Winner
We will be having a
decorating contest throughout
the community. You can do
something yourself or get
together with a group to add
some Christmas spirit. Lorinda
has a list of the areas that can be
decorated for the contest.

Happy Holidays! Welcome to
December. I am so glad that the
festivities for Thanksgiving went
well and thank you to all who
came and celebrated with us
here at the community. We have
been decorating the community
and are doing a contest with the
residents and staff for best
decorated area. This is always a
fun event.
Merry Christmas to everyone
and travel safely during the
holiday season.
Leslie Davis MC Admin.
Decorate your own wrapping
paper with a few household
supplies. Cover a rolling pin
with waxed paper and secure it
with packing tape. With a glue
gun, attach foam shapes to the
pin. You can find pre-cut shapes
at craft stores or cut your own
out of craft foam. With a brush,
paint over the shapes with the
color of your choice. Spread out
the paper you are going to use
for wrapping—craft paper,
grocery sacks, or even
newspaper—and roll the pin
over it to create your design.
