1 Kings 19:19-21: “So Elisha returned to his oxen and slaughtered them. He used the wood from
the plow to build a fire to roast their flesh. He passed around the meat to the townspeople,
and they all ate. Then he went with Elijah as his assistant.”

Elijah’s ministry does not end with the call of Elisha who became Elijah’s attendant and student. Instead, as
with Elijah and Elisha, The spiritual mentoring process continues for several years, as with Elijah becoming the
mentor of Elisha, and later passing on his mantle upon his departure for Heaven. Mentoring others is one of the
most important ministries any of us can have, especially leaders; but mentoring should not be limited to
publically recognized leaders. On April 9, 2016, Servant/Leaders representing thousands of men and women
called to “pass the mantle” and disciple God’s people received mantles, gavels and stones representing God’s
call and commission to “go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel.”
