UAV’s,!in!conjunction!with!LIDAR!sensors,!allows!SkyTech!to!fill!the!gap!which!exists!between!
traditional! groundUbased! survey! methods! and! Helicopter/Aircraft! aerial! surveys.! This! includes!

CASE(STUDY:(RECENT(PIPELINE(EXPANSION(PROJECT(

In!a!recent!pipeline!expansion!project!Skytech!Solutions!Ltd.!was!subcontracted!to!collect!LIDAR!
data!and!high!resolution!imagery!for!surface!feature!inventory!during!preliminary!engineering.!!
Advanced!vehicle!mounted!LIDAR!equipment!was!used!to!complete!terrestrial!data!collection,!
and! Unmanned! Aerial! System! (UAV/UAS)! mounted! LIDAR! was! used! to! collect! the! Aerial!
portions!of!the!project.!!In!conjunction!with!a!LIDAR!post!processing!vendor!that!specializes!in!
artificial!intelligence!(AI)!based!automatic!feature!extraction!technology!and!visualization!tools,!
the!data!was!used!to!create!a!GIS!database!of!all!above!ground!features!and!bareUearth!DEM!
models.!!
During!the!project,!the!use!of!UAV!mounted!LIDAR!and!vehicle!mounted!LIDAR!proved!to!be!a!
significantly!more!efficient!alternative!to!traditional!land!surveying!methods.!!By!increasing!the!
speed!at!which!the!data!was!collected,!as!well!as!providing!the!accuracy!inherent!to!LIDAR,!the!
client!was!able!to!make!decisions!faster.!!Additionally,!the!baseline!dataset!allowed!the!client!to!
defer!actual!field!survey!until!later!in!the!project,!or!selectively!as!required!throughout.!!
