know coming back to the church may not have been easy for you, but we are glad you are here.
MEMBERSHIP HAS ITS BENEFITS!
Becoming a member of the St. Therese Parish brings you into a family of Families, a network of loving individuals called together
with a divine purpose—becoming Saints. By registering, you are giving us the gift of knowing you, understanding your needs and
helping establish you into a group within St. Therese that will best fit what you are looking for. Come to the Parish Office or visit
the Information Desk in the Social Room for a registration packet. If you are new to the area, please stop into the Parish Office and
introduce yourself. We look forward to getting to know you!
THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME — October 24—30, 2016
From deacon dave:
THANK YOU, St. Therese Parish!
I am so grateful to God and you for the
love and support you gave me – and Kathy –
particularly over these last 6 months while serving you
as temporary administrator of the Parish. As an
Administrator for the State of Michigan for 32 years, a
budget specialist for another 10 years and Deacon
with you for 32 years, it seemed right for me to step in
and help bridge the time that Fr. John was away. With
your prayers and willingness to step in yourselves to do
valuable service, you all made my job as easy as it
could have been. Thank you!
I am so very grateful to God for our Parish
leadership team: Pat Droste, Sue Benjamin, Bianca
Murray, Neil Danby, Dean Jong and Ramona
Aguinaga. They themselves operated at a level
above and beyond, keeping their own areas in your
service while helping me do what I had to do. Each of
them command all our thanks and respect.
I welcome Fr. John back to St. Therese Parish. Each of
us and all of us can help him reenter this Parish, full of
hope that he will remain healthy as our Pastor.
I thank God for the continuing opportunities
he gives me here at St. Therese Parish to form Disciples
of Jesus Christ who are eager to live his model of love,
mercy, service and justice for and among the most
vulnerable among us.
Called by Name
More than 30 of us from St. Therese joined almost 2,000
others at the second of three Diocesan Assemblies.
While continuing our efforts to become a more:
 Welcoming Parish
 Intercessionally-Praying Parish
 Jesus-Encountering Parish
 Personally-Relational (to Jesus) Parish
we pick up another mission - to invite back to our
community those around us, family, neighbors and
friends who no longer, but once did, practice our Faith.
More than 30 of us from St. Therese Parish are
enlivened with prayer and enabled with new ideas to
now call each of YOU by name, the other 1,450
souls of St. Therese Parish, in the mission of leading
back others by your own joy in growing in the
discipleship of Jesus Christ. Welcome to the “fishing”
trip.

Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizens
It is important for our society to continue to combat any
unjust discrimination, whether based on race, religion, sex,
ethnicity, disabling condition or age, as these are grave
injustices and affronts to human dignity. Where the effects
of past discrimination persist, society has the obligation to
take positive steps to overcome the legacy of injustice,
including vigorous action to remove barriers to education,
protect voting rights, support good policing in our
communities and ensure equal employment for women
and minorities.
The Parish Social Ministries Commission is thinking an indoor
Just Neighbors picnic at Hildebrandt Park tentatively
on Saturday morning, November 12. Would you please
pencil that in on you calendars?
